One thing that truly pisses me off is when in Monoma/monoshin fanworks they try to justify/explain how he's somehow extremely weak and incapable of fighting, that he's "weaker" than the average male hero student, or that certain characters – like Shinsou – are stronger and better at fighting. It pmo because of how common it is (I can't recall a single mshn fic where there isn't an allusion to this) and how genuinely stupid it is once you use your brain for half a second.

How do y'all think he got to top ten as a close combat fighter if he "can't fight"? Where did this notion come from that he's weaker than the average hero student? He is the average. Literally. And don't get me started on the mnshin/shinsou thing,, these ppl keep insisting on the same bs that their canon stats n common sense disprove.

For context, poetry slams are competitions where the participants recite their own poems in three minutes, with a specific theme in mind. Monoma, to me, is the type to memorize his poem (instead of reading it) and perform it with dramatical gestures that emphasize his words.

He's not just another underground hero, he's on deep cover operations and missions overseas. So, there are probably times when he can't be seen with the scarf, or where he has to resort to combat. But we know he's not a combat hero, and in those cases it's only logical he'd need something to defend himself or others, and even be able to make use of his opponent's weapons.

The dynamic I prefer is indeed Shinsou being the "sub," in the sense of him being the one taken care of –as you well put it– and not the typical fifty shades of gray dynamic. My reasoning for it is exactly that: he's a very independent character, whose work revolves around controlling others, analyzing them, observing. It's a big responsibility that I think he'd want to let go of once he's in the comfort of his own home with the person he trusts and loves.

The bottom has the consent, they have the power to revoke consent, they can tell the Top what feels good or what doesn't feel good, they can control the tempo and pace, they are an active participant right?

Yes! That's true both for a bottom and a sub, and I def think Shinsou likes to keep a bit of his independence. But in the end, I believe he'd want to let go of the reins, yk? As a treat.

I like the vulnerability aspect that you mention, and it goes for both of them, it's just that in Shinsou it shows in that "reprieve of self sufficiency" to be the one taken care of, while in Monoma this vulnerability comes with caring for him. He's still vulnerable even if he's taking the lead.

And I totally agree with your point about Monoma! On the few times I see him written as a top, whether it's with another character or a canon/reader, he's usually the typical "daddy dom" that degrades his partner, but I can't imagine him like that. We see him uplifting and praising those he cares about, trying to bring out the best of them. He wouldn't want to make Shinsou feel weak or below him, quite the opposite, actually. He admires Shinsou,, and he would totally show it.

I think it would make sense that he'd use his authority and decisiveness to make Shinso feel comfortable and safe, while he still has a bit of power (which is what he craves deep down, and Shinso wants him to feel satisfied too).

You described it perfectly ;-; that's exactly what I mean with Monoma being the "dom." And it's not just a safe space for Shinsou, it's also for himself. And you're right Monoma would totally be a gentleman,, I mean that's his whole brand lmao.

Yeah I remember saying I like the idea of him being pretty corny and cringey with dirty talk T-T it's just so funny to think about...

They'd tease each other, Shinsou would probably laugh because of Monoma's dirty talk (I kinda love the idea Shinso gets really giggly for some reason), Shinso would shoot back dirtier (better) remarks at him, they'd one up each other by flustering the other...they are dorks at heart.

Ughh I love that >_< I can totally imagine their teasing back and forth. And Shinsou getting dirtier/better to tease him into a competition ?? so good ;-;

I don't like it either when the top or the more dominant partner somehow knows what their partner likes, w/o bothering to check. I mean, I do think monoshin know what each other generally likes, but it's not really taken for granted. Maybe Shinsou can say what he wants to do and Monoma makes sure they get to that ¿?

Omg yes!! I always saw him as a tennis guy, for some reason, he just has those vibes. Actually, I think he's a pretty sports-y guy. Mainly football – like in the smash! manga –, tennis and mma (he does mma trust).

Not that I dislike the punisher or anything but what the hell was he doing in the movie. Like what was the point of him being there besides messing things up? Was it just for the crossover? I really don't know much about the character, only watched a few episodes 'cause my dad likes the show but I don't remember him like this.
