Christmas season!

My print project is about telling the story of how a brand new pair of shoes make you feel. The story starts out with me looking depressed wearing a wore down beaten pair of shoes with holes in the toe area. This emphasizes the mood of the story and character by showing close up shots of the worn down shoes.  The story continues with pictures of the progression of the search for a pair of nice shoes. Continues with buying and opening the new shoes. It builds up to close up shots of the new shoes and wearing the shoes out with friends to show the lightened mood. 

‘Zapantera Negra’ EXHIBITION Today was an adventurous day for me as a photographer. To be able to learn the history behind the art of the Zapatista and Black Panther was insightful. How they were using art to connect and portray their message. The message was for social change and empowerment of the black people. They were tired and exhausted from the abuse they received over the years what Emory Douglas did with his artwork, he emboldened a movement towards positive social change. I attended Mr. Emory Douglas’s lecture and it was enlightening to hear from someone who has lived through that era and where he got his inspirations from for his artwork. It was an even more intimate experience when I was able to meet and shake his hand at the Art Gallery. He was very down to earth and told me that his art is to enlighten and inform people about issues. As you can see in his artwork, it is empowering the black community by reminding them of icons of the past that went through the same problems. Black lives matter with the iconic black panther and Malcolm X as well. Just a few things that reminds the audience of the deep history and hardships of the social problems from years ago and still go on today. 

FORM - SHAPE. with all the people in the bleachers, you can get a sense of how big the whales are.

Symmetry. Vertical lines - power. soft light.

Motion. with the punching bag in full swing. it’s positioned diagonally which is an impression of movement.

Lines.

Depth of Field. The first photo shows the depth of field focusing on something that’s further in the back. The Kiwi Strawberry Fruit juice cocktail. The second photo shows depth of field focusing on something that’s closer. The sprinkler system.  Both photos shows example of how to use depth of field depending on where you focus.

Dominance - The light draws your attention to the left side of the photo and the right side’s darkness creates a mysterious feel to contrast the left.

Colors - Complimentary colors of orange and blue at sunset in the mountains.

Harmony - blue green and purple colors are neighbors and are soothing to the eyes.
