appearance
Dane stands at 6'4, he has a slouch from bending over the back of his dragon. Tall and broad-shouldered, the warrior is powerfully built with a warrior's frame honed by years of battle. His skin is a rich, warm brown, marked by faint scars from past victories and near defeats. His dark, expressive eyes carry with them the telltale symptoms of the emberborne storm rider, a quiet rage that lay beneath a patient demeanor.
His hair is thick and dark, often left unkempt but with a well-maintained beard that frame his strong jaw. There is something about him - perhaps the measured way he moves or the quiet, contemplative air he carries - that makes him seem both deeply grounded and ever watchful.
His armor is well-worn but maintained with discipline, the sigil of House Toyne subtly displayed upon it - a reminder of his service rather than his name. His rider’s leathers bear the signs of flame and storm, reflecting the power of the dragon he commands.
persona
There is a saying, anger the emberborne and bring a mountain down upon your head. Which was to say that it was difficult to send Dane into a rage, but once pushed to the limit his assault is ruthless.
Dane is a man shaped by war - honed like a blade but tempered by quiet introspection. He carries himself with an unshakable sense of duty, a warrior who fought fiercely for his kingdom and now struggles to find purpose in a time of peace. Beneath his stoic exterior lies a man of deep feeling, though he rarely allows himself to indulge in sentimentality. Dane does not serve out of blind obedience but because he believes in the weight of oaths and the meaning of duty.
Years of war taught him discipline - how to wait, when to act, and when to hold his tongue. He does not rush, nor does he waste effort on things that do not matter. He is not one for grand speeches or unnecessary attention. In social settings, he often withdraws, uncomfortable with praise or the expectations that come with his station.
Having lived through war, he understands the cost of victory. He does not seek glory or recognition, only to do what is necessary. At times, he wonders if he is merely waiting for the next fight, unable to exist without conflict. Born into war, Dane finds peace to be an unfamiliar, almost suffocating thing. Without a battle to fight or a purpose to serve, he feels lost. He trains, he watches, he waits - but for what, he does not know.
He has seen too many friends, comrades, and brothers-in-arms die. He does not form bonds easily, not because he does not care, but because he cares too much. He cannot afford to lose more, so he keeps his heart guarded.
sexual
Dane is not a man who speaks openly about his desires, but he knows himself well. His attraction is deeply emotional as much as it is physical - he does not easily allow himself to be vulnerable, but when he does, it is with complete trust.
Dane is slow to open up, not because he fears judgment, but because he has lost too much. He does not enter relationships lightly. Once he allows someone into his life, he is steadfast, devoted, and unwavering in his affection.
He is not one who usually engages in casual flings or meaningless encounters. While Dane can appreciate beauty and physicality, he craves connection. He is drawn to those who understand the weight he carries, those who can see beyond the warrior and into the man. Dane values trust and surrender. Dane is capable of taking control when the moment calls for it, but at his core, he finds comfort in relinquishing control to someone he trusts. As someone who has spent his life fighting, there is something grounding in allowing himself to be held, cherished, and cared for in return.
Dane fears that he is too much of a soldier to be a lover - that he was forged for war, not for the kind of tenderness he secretly desires. He worries that, in the end, he will always be waiting for the next battle, that his hands - so used to wielding a sword - may never learn how to hold something as fragile as love without breaking it.
