Rossi tried to bite back the smirk, he really did, but, in the end, he couldn’t stop it from molding the dimples into his face. He wrapped both hands around a lukewarm coffee cup and took a sip. “Of course, I am. What else would I be talking about, kid? It’s not like your dad and I are in a long-term, committed relationship.” The silence that followed was nothing short of satisfying. He wanted to intimidate her. And - maybe - temporarily scar her. Anything that stopped her from going out and getting into trouble was a win in his book.

Hi !!! I tend to use all 3 in a criminal minds’ setting. If I wrote sherlock/the following more, I’d prob use them in those fandoms as well. Otherwise, I’m game to toss them anywhere they fit. xD

"I said get out of here!"

A crime scene was a crime scene, no matter the location. This one just happened to be smack dab in the middle of an abandoned building. The lady who had called it in had been investigating ghosts with a group of her friends, when she’d felt something hit her on the forehead. An hour later, Zachary found himself standing in a crowded room with no weapon, a body, and a hell of a lot of blood.

He stared at the dripping letters on the wall. This is what you wanted. There was something so ominous about a phrase like that, it made him feel like his organs were ice. What had the victim done to deserve a fate as dreadful as this one? Who was the message for, and had they been the ones meant to stumble upon the body? Zachary snapped a quick photo. Let his camera fall against his chest. When he looked to his right, he caught the eye of a familiar detective and his grumbly partner.

“Detective. Lieutenant. Wish I could say it was nice to see you, but... given the circumstances...” Zach’s words trailed off. Blue eyes moved from the body to the words to the two people working to figure this out as much as he was. “Strange case.”

He wondered if the murder had intended for the body to be found this quickly. Soft brows dipped together as he knelt down to examine a drop of blood he hadn’t noticed before. He looked off to the right. There. On the other side of the room. There was a puddle of blood - conveniently hidden from view - that seemed to be leading to an area behind a pile of boxes. Without another word, he walked away from his two companions, head falling to the side as he got closer. Thump.

An empty box landed in front of his feet.

Zachary froze.

Oh.

Someone screamed. He turned in time to watch an officer fall to the ground, before another figure emerged from an area closer to the front door. The brunette dropped to the ground as the crime scene emerged into one of growing chaos - people were moving so fast, they looked like blurred shapes, and those who were down didn’t seem to be moving at all. He used his hands and feet to push himself back against the wall, yelping in surprise when strong hands lifted him to his feet.

Get out of here! Connor was in his face and - then - he wasn’t. The culprit from behind the boxes had decided to join the fight in the form of attacking his companion from behind. Zachary moved to help (did he have any hand-to-hand-combat training? Absolutely not), and gasped when an elbow whacked his eye with a - crack.

I said get out of here! He heard Connor’s muffled voice rip through the ringing in his head. You’re dead. Another voice called out.

This was why he liked doing most of his work in an office.

“Peachy,” TK mumbled out, though he didn’t move to look at Connor. He continued to toss a tennis ball against the wall, catching it every time it bounced back in his direction. He was having... second thoughts about his job. Again. Every time he thought he was content with rushing into burning buildings, the universe threw a curveball in his direction (in the form of an injury or fight or loss).

“My dad ask you to check up on me?” He did turn this time, hand hovering in the air. They had lost a lot of people during their last call: kids, adults, androids, first-responders. It was natural for Owen to worry about him. Because hey, he was TK, the fuck-up, the addict, the one everyone always needed to walk on eggshells around. “Don’t worry. I’m not gonna off myself. I can put it in writing if you need me to.”

He has a son and a husband. He’s only thirty-eight. It took her a second to realize her breath had been coming out in quick, short gasps. “Emily,” JJ struggled to find the right words. She was the one who had asked their potential victim who he had thought the unsub could be.
