Coco has 20-30 phrases he repeats regularly, some in Spanish, and also sings "Jesus Loves Me". He says many more words (never counted them all). He's 6 years old and I've had him since he was 2 months old. Our house is never too quiet.

Remarkable to me, of all God's creatures, only bird's talk (like humans).  Why not my dogs?

How about using flash cards to learn the themes of the Old Testament books of the Bible?  No! No! No! Not those plain old boring black and white ones you used in school. These are bright, colorful and cleverly illustrated.

For example: the one for the book of Habakkuk has a guy with a backpack  standing on top of a tower peering into the distance. The tower has wristwatches wrapped around it. It's a "watch-tower"…Get it? Watchtower is the key word for the book. The backpack has "HA" written on it. It's a "HA-backpack" to remind you of Habakkuk…Clever, right? 

Each card has a flip-side with major points to remember for that book and an explanation for connecting the elements of the illustration.

There's even an app for that! I have the flash cards app downloaded onto my smart phone and can review them anywhere, anytime. Great for kids! Great for me too!

Just go to this website, click on the "Resources" tab and scroll to "Teaching Tools". It will take you right to the "OT39" Flash Cards. They're an inexpensive, fun way to learn more about God's word.

Your Mother is always with you...She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street. She's the smell of bleach in your freshly laundered socks. She's the cool hand on your brow when you're not well. Your Mother lives inside your laughter. She's crystallized in every tear drop. She's the place you came from, your first home; and she's the map you follow with every step you take. She is your first love, your first heartbreak, and nothing on earth can separate you. Not time, not space...not even death!

My extraordinary mother passed from this life into a far better one over 22 years ago. I miss her...

She was the quintessential homemaker, a phenomenal cook, an ingratiating hostess. She could create anything (at least I thought she could), entertained like no one else, and decorated a home like something out of a magazine. She could read you like a book and melt you with her smile. And, she was immensely discerning, sagacious. 

The verse above reminds me, she is always with me.

If your mother has passed on, perhaps this verse will bring you comfort as well. If you are blessed to still have your mother around, I trust you will treasure her like any other precious jewel.
