Moving around the kitchen in his drunken bliss, Damon had the music on loud as he catered to his craving. Pancakes. Sure, it was night time, but he had slept till afternoon and proceeded to top up the alcohol running through his blood. Anything to dull down the emotions. Damon knew Rowan wouldn’t be home, but he expected Gavin at some point, given that he had left Bambi, who was currently in the corner of the kitchen looking at him as if he was totally bonkers. The Salvatore had just plated up the pancakes as he caught sight of Gavin in the doorway. “Hey kid, want some? They look good, but I’m not sure if that’s syrup or bourbon I’ve poured over them. Still...” he shrugged, speaking loud enough for him to hear as he pushed the plate in his direction.

“Wait, I’m sorry, was that supposed to scare me?” She couldn’t help the laugh that fell from her lips. “You got it all wrong, Damon. No one warned you about me.” Her eyes glowed for a moment as she paused her words. He was right though. No one warned her how damn infuriating he was or how hot he was… wait what? Hayley mentally kicked herself for that thought and regained her focus. “I am the Queen of the wolves, but first and foremost, I’m Hope’s mother. She cares about your daughter so I do too. If that means I’m in your way then too damn bad.” The dark haired hybrid watched him a moment and sighed. “I’m sorry for bringing up Elena. You were right. I’d be just as pissed if someone brought up Jackson.” She shook her head. “Look, spite me all you want, but don’t hurt Rowan because of it.”
“You wouldn’t want me to scare you Hayley, so don’t tempt me” he snarled, only inching his face a little closer to hers when her eyes glowed. “Right, the she wolf turned Queen, I’m shaking in my boots” he gasped mockingly before rolling his eyes, leaning back to collect his drink as she babbled on. “Please, you’re a fluffy little bunny compared to the people I’ve been up against, you don’t intimidate me so don’t embarrass yourself.” Damon took a swig at his drink. “Maybe you should keep your nose out of my business then. Consult with my kid all you want, but don’t come at me with your morals and your speeches about how hard it can be to be a parent. You have no influence in my life, I barely listen to the people who do have that influence so why in the hell would I listen to you? Save your breath. I came here to get drunk and have a good time, so if you’re going to keep giving me earache just warn me now so I can leave. You’ve used up my limited patience and I’m a bit of an ass when I’m cranky. Ask anyone.”
“You’re ridiculou-” she started before he grabbed her arm and pulled her back, tensing up quicker than she should have when it came to her father, but her father was also Damon Salvatore. And a drunk Damon Salvatore? She was a little scared. The words that flew out of his mouth, though, were unexpected. Her jaw dropped, she felt tears run to her cheeks. “Please… please don’t…” she said, whimpering at the sensitive subject.
“Please, please don’t...” he repeated, clearly mocking her. His eyes narrowed towards her sad face and he let go of her arm, slouching his arms by his sides. “You can call me all the names under the sun, kid, it doesn’t change the fact you screwed up way before I did. Day and night I was there for you and you still turned to drugs, so don’t turn the waterworks on and expect me to apologize for your mistakes when I won’t even apologize for mine. Just like you lack respect, I lack sympathy...”

“Well, first of all, you could be sober for once and pull your head out of your ass.” She huffed rolling her eyes at him. Hayley was certainly beginning to see why Klaus didn’t get along with him. “No wonder she doesn’t listen to you.” The hybrid sighed running her fingers through her hair. “Rowan needs her father now more than ever. Your daughter needs her parents and since her mother unfortunately can’t be here, it’s up to you to step up.” Hayley paused and shook her head. “You want to fix it? Be there for your daughter. Hold her during her episodes. Hug her when she needs comfort. Tear the town apart trying to find a cure for this stupid curse she’s under. That’s what a father does, Damon.” She snapped resisting the urge to hit Damon. “I mean, I’d bring her mother back just to kick your ass for slacking, but I don’t have that kind of power at the moment.
Damon was almost done tolerating her sticking her nose into his family business, so when she dared to mention Elena, the Salvatore could barely contain the rage in him. “Ok listen here, you don’t know me, you have no right telling me what to do with my family. If I’m messing up then that’s my damn problem, not yours, I don’t want your pep talks on how to be a father to my kids.” Damon growled as he got off his seat. “You also have no right to mention their mother, who do you think you are? You might rule the wolves, but last time I check I’m not one, so falling at your feet and obeying isn’t going to happen and clearly, nobody warned you about me, see, the fact you’ve inserted yourself into my business and told me how to handle it, only makes me want to do the complete opposite just to spite you. Messed up, right? Well that’s me, messy. Not to mention impulsive and easily ticked off. Stay out of my way, Queenie, we’re done here” he snarled, grabbing his jacket as he turned to leave.
“Actually warped?”, Rowan scoffed. “Yeah because seeing dead people and all of this supernatural shit isn’t making me crazy? I hope you know that although I know that I know it’s supernatural, they still sent me home with a bottle of pills and want to see me again in three weeks,” she said, before pushing past him and out the door, whispering a gentle but angry, “Go fuck yourself,” as she passed.
”But I thought you were a big girl now? Big enough to get a hideous tattoo, big enough to go to a party despite being grounded, so I assumed you would be big enough to handle a few spooks here and there. My bad” he scoffed. Damon didn’t want to argue with her, so he was going to just leave, but when he heard her curse at him, his instincts took over and he caught her arm as she tried to pass, turning her around to face him. He almost cracked.. almost pulled her into his arms, but he was stubborn - just as she was. “Don’t forget to pack your pills, I have no doubt you’ll take them religiously, pill popping is your specialty after all, isn’t it, Rolo?”

Hayley shook her head and smiled. “I don’t blame you for not wanting her around him. Pretty much why I kept him away from her while she was staying with us. He’d never harm her though. At least I don’t think he would. Not worth the tantrum from Hell that Hope would throw.” Her shoulders shrugged at that. “God, she sounds like me. I never listened at that age either.” A soft chuckle slipped past her lips. “Seriously? She’s not nuts. She’s a sweet kid. Supernatural, huh? Well now that I can understand.” She understood it more than most people could. Downing a shot, Hayley sighed running her fingers through her dark hair. “I wouldn’t be surprised if Hope was already trying to find a way to help Rowan. We’ll both help in any way that we can. Look, she may not listen to you, but that’s normal teenager behavior. You’ve done a good job raising her. Being a teen isn’t easy for any girl and having to deal with something supernatural on top of it makes it a whole hell of a lot worse. At least she has family and friends supporting her. She won’t… she won’t end up half as messed up as I did, you know?”
“So my kids safety relies on two teenagers never falling out - because that never happens now does it?” he looked towards her slightly amused. Honestly, he wouldn’t put it past the hybrid to harm anybody, despite the connections they had, but he believed Rowan wouldn’t be stupid enough to piss him off. “Yeah? Well if you’d like to explain it to me that’d be just great because I have no idea how to fix it” he scoffed. Damon scrunched his face up and turned to look at her as she made her passing comments, making it quite clear they were unappreciated. “Right, because I had no idea teenagers were anything other than little angels. - You know what, I have. I have done a good job, probably... Maybe.. Until right now anyway, but that’s my business. So my kid won’t be as messed in the head as you are. Well that’s just aces, all my worries have floated away. Thank you” he mocked in a typical Damon fashion.
Rowan turned quickly, surprised to hear her father’s voice. “I haven’t… It’s been weeks and you’re just now deciding to show up? Where the hell were you when I was in the hospital? But I mean, you clearly know about that. Some support definitely would have been nice though, you know, when they were doping me up on anti-psychotics,” she scoffed, shoving her clothes into her bag even faster. “Just leave me alone. I’m going back to Aunt Care’s. At least she doesn’t reek of over-intoxication and a poor parenting job….”
“Well at least you know you’re not actually warped, I’d say that’s a small plus, wouldn’t you?” he rolled his eyes. Mentioning that he had actually visited her while she was sleeping wouldn’t help matters now. Honestly, he wasn’t going to argue his innocence either. Partly because he was the opposite of it, and partly because he was so sick of the drama. “Right’eo, you’re the boss, kid.” Damon swirled around on his spot and swayed his way out her room and along the corridor. Talking to her when she was mad was like talking to a brick wall, so why even try? Respect was out the window at this point anyway, so why not be the newly formed disappointment she had seen him become? It saddend him, of course it did - but turning pain into sarcasm and detached behavior was something Damon did best. He knew it, his brother knew it, everyone but his children knew it. They never saw that side of him and once upon a time, he actually let himself believe for just a moment that, they never would. That’s what made it all sting that little more. “Make sure you don’t forget your toothbrush” he called out mockingly.

Rowan walked into her home, taking a deep breath. She hadn’t walked through the doors in a long time due to her leaving on such terrible terms. The sun had begun to set and she had hoped that her father would be out. When she didn’t see his car right away, she made her way in, promising Caroline that she’d be back out in a moment. She made her way into her room, grabbed her duffel bag from under the bed before beginning to shove her clothes and pyjamas into it. She didn’t expect to hear a door open and close. “Aunt Care, just give me a few more minutes - you don’t have to check on me all the time, you know. I’m fine,” she called out as she continued to pack her bag.
[ @damon-salvctore ]
Puffing out a breath as he finally reached the house, Damon swayed his way down the path, sighing when he found the door to be open. Drunken eyes and a drink in hand despite the fact it wasn’t even noon, he listened out for who was home. Releasing it was Rowan, he breathed in a deep breath and made his way towards her room. Liquid courage was a beautifully dangerous thing. The vampire rolled his eyes, hoping Caroline wouldn’t make an appearance too. “Fine? Cool, ‘at least you’re not.. you know... crazy” he whispered the last word mockingly as he pulled a face.

Sighing into his drink, he eyed her with absent eyes and shrugged his shoulders as he finished the last sip. “Queen of the wolves, guess it was about time we crossed paths.” Damon placed his glass down and leaned against the bar. “I knew where my daughter was, thanks. If I had it my way she would be nowhere near any Mikaelson’s but who am I to tell a teenager what to do?” Damon raised his brow, flagging the barman to get him another. “So what, you sought me out just to inform me about my own child? Well gee, thanks for that, but you wasted your time.”
Knocking back her drink, Hayley rolled her eyes in annoyance. “Watch it, Salvatore. That’s my family you’re talking about.” She paused to look at him. “Seriously? You’re her father. It’s your job to tell her what to do. Although I’d highly suggest not ruining her friendship with Hope. My daughter is shockingly a good kid considering she’s half Mikaelson.” The brunette pointed out before sighing softly. “Not at all. I just… I know Rowan went to the hospital. Obviously they aren’t going to tell me anything because I’m not family and I’m not about to set a bad example for Hope by compelling a nurse. Okay, maybe I would if it came to it, but out of respect, I thought I would just ask you first. Is Rowan okay?”
“Then you should know better than anyone my comment is more than deserved” he raised a brow and looked towards her. The more she spoke, the more a scoff threatened to erupt from his lips. “Okay, not that it’s any of your business, but I have no intention of ruining anything for her. It’s not your daughter I don’t want her around, it’s Klaus. Now you can’t blame me for not being overjoyed that she’s within biting distance of him but as you can see, I’m not doing anything about it. I can tell Rowan what to do, Hayley, but getting her to actually listen is a completely different matter” he frowned further, growing more irritated with the brunette as the seconds went on. “Is she okay?” Damon snorted, shotting back his drink. “They think she’s nuts. They can’t help her because her issues aren’t medical, they’re supernatural. So no, she’s actually not okay, but she’s not in hospital anymore.” Damon shrugged. Rowan wasn’t aware Damon had been checking in on her. It pained him to know that she probably thought he didn’t care, but care was the exact reason he was avoiding her. The vampire wouldn’t admit it, but he was scared to look her in the eyes, fearing if he did, he wouldn’t see his daughter anymore, but a stranger staring back.

Damon chuckled but didn’t say anything. Surely she hadn’t blocked that much of her life off? It would come to her soon enough, he was sure. When the silence filled the air, his smirk widened in amusement at her thoughtful expression. “Penny in the air…” he mumbled. The vampire remembered it clearly now, what he had done to her and why. How he just left her there in-front of the bar and walked away. He was betting she wouldn’t be all that happy once the pieces connected together. It did tickle him how she had tried to suppress the memory of it though, as if that would help her at all. Damon hummed lowly and looked down at the hands that pressed against his chest. He could have easily pushed them off, but he didn’t.
Honestly he wasn’t all that bothered what she was going to do, so when she snapped and pushed him backwards, he just went with it, letting himself stumble and fall down. “… Penny drops.” Damon concluded his earlier comment, a soft laughter erupting from his throat as he leaned back on his elbows and looked up at her. “Me, yes. I turned you” he released a long breath, bringing the bottle to his lips and finishing it off before tossing it to the side. “So what now, Wonderland? Fight to the death? Kiss and make up? Ball’s in your court.”
Aleksandra hadn’t ever felt rage like she had in those moments. She had the ability to get angry, had the ability to lash out. Although she liked to think of herself as a calm person. She went with the flow, did things without thinking and then accepted the consequences. She didn’t feel rage. Not until that moment. She didn’t know if it was because of her finally remembering who turned her, or the fact that she’d met the person beforehand and was stupid enough to follow him outside that night. Perhaps it was simply because he had the nerve to take her life into his hands; stopping time for her. Letting her stay the same age. Not giving her any choice and then leaving her when it was all said and done. Whatever the case might have been didn’t matter because her mind went blank. The more she looked at him, the more irritated she got.
She scoffed when she heard the sound of his voice. She wasn’t dumb enough to think that he felt even the slightest bit of remorse for what he did. The Damon she met long ago didn’t and this one didn’t either. Not only did his face stay the same, so did his personality. In the blink of an eye she was crouching next to where he landed on the ground. Her hand tangled in his hair as she turned his head so she could look at him more closely.. Briefly wondering why he would allow her to do such a thing. They both knew he could force her away from him. “I just want to know why?” She replied; her voice even and cold. “Is there a reason? Or was I just the unfortunate soul to catch your wrath at the time?”
Sitting himself up as she drew near to him, his eyes subconsciously avoided hers as he continued to replay the events of that night. Damon knew she didn’t deserve what he did to her. But what could he do about it now? What’s done is done. As she took a grip in his hair, he frowned and followed her movements, looking towards her just as she was requesting. The look on her face was one of anger, but not just that - hurt and confusion also. Though it had been decades, he was betting that what she was asking him had been playing on her mind for quite some time. “Why what?” Damon smirked, almost like he was taunting her. The elder vampire was more than capable of pushing her away, but for some reason he didn’t. Instead, he just sat comfortably, his shoulders slouching in a drunken defeat. “You got in my way, Alex” he began, breathing out a sigh through his nose.
“I didn’t have any humanity. Didn’t want any either, so when I heard people talking about the reason I switched it off, I felt a pang of guilt. Turned that guilt into anger and I left to go tear something apart. -- You followed me.” Damon looked towards her, his features almost soft. Lately he had been going off the rails, but given that his humanity was still on, the more calm and genuine side of him was rearing it’s un-wanted head the more he continued to look at her. He owed her an explanation. An apology too, but the latter was more than likely not going to happen. “You were convenient, or as you put it, an unfortunate soul. I didn’t care about you and I needed a quick fix to stop any humanity from flooding in, so I used you to help myself. I killed you because I could and I turned you for my own sick amusement. Left you there because I didn’t have any intentions of staying to help you out.” Damon licked his lower lip, shrugging his shoulders once more. “That’s it. That’s the truth."
But he is mine!

“Oh… great. Thanks, uncle Damon.” Trenton smiled, getting into his uncle’s car. “Do I do that? get scared?” He asked as he clicked his seatbelt on. “I didn’t realize I did. It’s just my dad always tells me to be careful around you… even Rowan is often scared of making you mad, though I don’t understand how when she typically makes you mad in the first place.” Trenton continued to gaze out the window until his uncle’s latest request. “But…isn’t that illegal?“
“Yeah, what’s up with that? He’s the ripper of the family and I’m the one you need to be careful around? Hypocrite” he scoffed in amusement, setting the car into gear. At the mention of Rowan being scared of him, his lips pursed and he decided it best not to comment on that matter. “What’s illegal these days? Technically you should still be playing on swings and learning how to throw a ball so what harm will a beer do? I won’t tell if you don’t” he glanced towards him with a smirk, pulling out a bloodbag from the glove box. “Do you mind? Needs must.”

“The woman whose been housing your daughter.” The brunette hybrid deadpanned as she leaned against the bar. “But you can call me Hayley.” Her hazel eyes took in his appearance for a moment before she shook her head. “I just thought you’d appreciate knowing she’s been somewhere safe all this time. At least, as safe as one can be in the Mikaelson home.” Her shoulders shrugged as she ordered herself a drink.
Sighing into his drink, he eyed her with absent eyes and shrugged his shoulders as he finished the last sip. “Queen of the wolves, guess it was about time we crossed paths.” Damon placed his glass down and leaned against the bar. “I knew where my daughter was, thanks. Narrowing her eyes into thin slits as she always did when she sensed her uncle’s lies, “Mmhm,” she hummed, not bothering to suppress the skeptic look from across her face. “Right.” Sticking out her lower lip into a slight pout at her uncle’s rebut, she crossed her arms over her chest. “I only came in here because I saw you through the window, Uncle D!” she quickly justified herself. Shooting a glance towards the host’s direction, she shrugged her shoulders modestly before turning back to face her uncle. “They always let me in, though. Guess I must look of age, huh?” she wiggled her brows playfully before propping her elbow against the counter top. Allowing a dramatic sigh to leave her lips, “Daddy’s still out of town so I think I should be good, so as long as my favorite uncle of mine doesn’t tell him,” she added in a sweet tone. Before she could continue further, an elder gentleman sat directly beside her, causing herself to tense up as she inadvertently began scooting closer towards Damon on instinct.
Damon wiggled his brows, chuckling at her face. She really was like a mini Caroline, the only difference was - Roxy knew when to let it go and stop pushing. “Yeah yeah, is that the story you’re sticking with?” he teased, scoffing in amusement at her next comment. “Or maybe they’re waiting for the day you try to order alcohol so they can I.D. you.” Damon smiled, turning to take another sip of his drink. “Not a word will pass my lips, baby-Care, promise.” The vampire turned his head to give her a grin, but frowned at the uncomfortable look in her eyes. He looked between her and the male and when she scooted towards him, he leaned forward. “Hey buddy, go sit somewhere else.” Damon gave a tight smile, compelling the man into doing as he was told. His attention turned back towards his niece and he couldn’t help but show the confusion on his face. “What was with the shiftiness, Rox? He do something to you?”
