Hello Changeling Backers! We're officially in the FINAL DAYS of this kickstarter campaign. It's been a tremendous success so far, and there's still more to go! I'm expecting the campaign to get even more exciting as we approach the end. With that in mind, I wanted touch on some of the basics to make sure that everyone has got all of their information in order. For New & Recent Backers: While every update has been fascinating and insightful (if I do say so myself...), there are a few key updates that you may want to read to gain full knowledge of this campaign.Update # 18 dealt with Reward Tiers, and is your best starting point for figuring out which Backer Reward Level to choose to help support this project.Update #19 covered Add-Ons, the second step in calculating your Total Pledge Level (Reward Tier + Shipping + Add-Ons) that'll give you all of the rewards you're looking for.Update #17 has all 4 parts of the Changeling: The Lost second edition manuscript preview. That's right - the complete rules for the game are available to you when you pledge your support to this project. We'll all be waiting a bit for the finished product (after art and layout), but we're able to start playing the game NOW!With those important topics covered, there are a few final areas to discuss. Over the next few days, I'll post updates covering: Stretch Goals (today's topic) Being an Ambassador What Happens Next STRETCH GOALSAs the campaign progresses and more and more backers join in, we're able to add "stretch goals" which are additional rewards automatically added to certain pledge levels as a thank you.With two exceptions (detailed further down), all Stretch Goal rewards will become part of your final rewards allocation if you have pledged to a Reward Tier that includes the Changeling: The Lost 2nd Edition Core Book PDF (that's all Reward Tiers of $25 or greater). Looking at the current list of Stretch Goals achieved, that means - in addition to the rewards listed as part of your Reward Tier - you will receive: CHANGELING: THE LOST fiction anthology featuring seasonal-themed novellas CHANGELING: THE LOST Rules Companion - a PDF supplement with additional rules, suggestions, guidelines and discussion on key topics for the second edition of this game and setting. CHANGELING: THE LOST themed d10 dice for the OnyxDice app (available for both android and iOs ) CHANGELING: THE LOST Jumpstart kit, with a rules and a setting overview, as well as pre-generated characters and a complete introductory scenario to help launch your new chronicle Two Exceptions: Stretch Goals that will be rewarded based on Reward Tier or via Add-OnARCADIAN MEMORIES - Only backers who have pledged to a reward tier that contains the Arcadian Memories digital PDF bundle will receive the first-edition titles included in the bundle. Reward Pledge levels including the Arcadian Memories bundle are: Warrior of the Silent Arrow ($10) Defender of the Silent Arrow ($35) Sentinel of the Silent Arrow ($60) Disciple of the Antler Crown ($80) Otherwise the only way to receive this bundle is to include it as an Add-On to your total pledge level (see Update #19, which details how to increase your total pledge level).KITH & KIN - Only backers receiving a physical, printed version of the CHANGELING: THE LOST 2ND EDITION CORE BOOK HARDCOVER (that's all reward tiers of $50 or greater) will receive this PDF supplement detailing additional rules, guidelines, discussion and examples of kith and related topics for the Changeling setting.Otherwise the only way to receive this bundle is to include it as an Add-On to your total pledge level (see Update #19, which details how to increase your total pledge level).SO: Double check your Reward Tier (see Update #18 for more information on Reward Tiers). If you're getting a PDF, you're getting most of the additional stretch goal rewards. If you're getting the Arcadian Memories bundle, you'll receive all PDF titles that have been added to that bundle. If you're receiving a hardcover copy of the rules as a reward, you'll receive the Kith and Kin PDF supplement. If you are not automatically receiving the Arcadian Memories bundle or Kith & Kin supplement, you may add it as an Add-On to your total pledge level (see Update #19).In addition to providing bonus rewards, the stretch goals are also making these rewards - and actually the core book - bigger and better.One of our earliest achieved Stretch Goals was to increase the art budget for the CHANGELING: THE LOST second edition core rules, so that we can feature even more evocative art in the main project.The ARCADIAN MEMORIES PDF bundle started with 7 titles from the first edition of the Changeling: The Lost game line. It's now up to 10 PDFs and sure to climb higher before we reach the conclusion of the campaign.The Changeling: The Lost Companion PDF has had three sections added, covering Entitlements, Freeholds, and Courts! Further stretch goals may add more sections still.The Kith & Kin PDF supplement has also been expanded, by three Regalia-themed sections so far (covering Crown, Jewels, and Mirror). An addition for the Shield Regalia is on the horizon, with Steed and Sword expansions as upcoming stretch goals that we'll hopefully see.ACHIEVING STRETCH GOALSThe key to crowdfunding is to have as many backers as possible contributing to help fund the project. The pledge of each additional backer reduces the per backer share of the costs of the project and allows for the funding of further stretch goals. example with imaginary numbers:That is to say, if there are 100 backers pledging toward a project that costs $1,000 to create, each of the 100 backers must cover a $10 cost. Imagine that each backer therefore pledges $10 to make this happen - the project is funded and can be made!But, if there are 200 backers in this scenario, each backer now only needs to cover $5 of the total cost. Now, the creators can use the extra funds from those $10 pledge to expand the project, or create additional rewards or other offerings.(Keep in mind that, as backer numbers increase, some of these additional funds will be used to cover growing operational costs such as shipping and warehousing, as well as manufacturing more of the project, which will also increase proportionally. So it's not as straightforward as "double the number of backers" = "double the funds available" but more like "more backers" = "some more funds available".)As we gain backers, we re-invest any available portion back into the project and community and add further rewards as a thank-you for your supporting pledge. So, the best way to get the most out of your pledge is to invite more backers to join! And every backer who joins in as we approach the end is not only able to enjoy the additional rewards already added by the early fans and backers, but also help reward those early backers by expanding everyone's stretch goal rewards!So, as every update concludes: let's keep the enthusiasm rolling!
