Summary: Eijun had been the one to put him back to his feet, knowing what to say at the right moment. Furuya doesn’t talk a lot but he speaks with his actions. He always knows what to do to put Haruichi at ease. Sometimes it’s a well-placed touch of the hand. Other times it’s bringing him something to snack on when he’s been busy.

Ryousuke’s arm wraps around his shoulders and pulls him close. “It’s okay to cry,” he says.

Just a day after we came back from the invitational, Yakushi had their match in the semifinals. I’d been looking forward to watch it in the stadium, but after spending more time in the Koshien bullpen than actually pitching, I wasn’t sure if I could have taken it to sit in the stands, watching the mound from even further away. Now we were back in Tokyo, anyway.

While we still had our own games to worry about, there wasn’t much time for me to pay attention to Yakushi’s. I managed to watch at least some of their game against Ikuei, but other than that, I only knew what Todoroki told me and what the papers wrote. In some ways, it was almost like we were back in the fall tournament. Just on a grander scale. There had even been a possibility that we’d see each other in the finals again. Well, until we lost.

I was running when their match entered the seventh inning with Yakushi leading 5 to 2. While the radio broadcast definitely wasn’t like being there and watching the game myself, I at least didn’t feel as restless as I did when I followed the first few innings on TV…
