Daisy Waddles. Twenty two. Broadcast Journalism graduate, intern at the local news station, and Youtuber.
Here's my advice. Have a little faith, and if that doesn't work, have a lot of mimosas.
Tito snorted. âPlease, he has five friends tops.â Upon gaining entrance, he opened the first door he saw. Only to find a rather boring coat closet. Huffing, he started bending down to check under the sofa before realizing, of course, Donald couldnât fit under the sofa. âWhere are you hiding him, Dais? I know heâs top notch, but you canât keep him all to yourself.â He took a deep breath to shout for Donald before stopping himself and peering over at Daisy. âAre your parents home?â Check for adults then cause a ruckus. Again, he had manners.
âI was serving this group, at Faginâs, and I met this girl, who I swear is perfect for Donald. Maeve, no Megan? Maybe Morgan? Anyway total deadpan humor and she runs marathons? Like who the fuck runs marathons, Daisy? So they invited me out with them but I just had to get Donald to come because-â A break to breathe interrupted his inebriated rambling as he leveled Daisy with an earnest stare. âTheyâll meet and boom,â his hands mimed an explosion, âsoulmate found, meaning I instantly beat Minka as Donaldâs favorite best friend.â
Disappointed at not immediately spotting his friend but still convinced as to his presence, Tito halted his search in favor of twisting towards Daisy. âSo, what were you and Donald doing? If you lot had a Mario Kart tournament without meâŚâ He shook his head, focus now drifting to his desire to play Mario Kart. Did Daisy even have Mario Kart? She was rich, probably had everything.
~
Daisy closed the door behind them, taking advantage of the fact that Titoâs back was turned toward her by smiling to herself at the thought that yes, Donald was indeed top notch (in spite of how much she complained about him to his face), and she had every intention of keeping him to herself. It almost made her laugh, but she was able to school her expression in time to look at Tito and shake her head in response to whether or not her parents were home.
To her, the entire situation was slowly becoming more amusing than it was stressful, only for her face to fall for a fraction of a second once it was made clear exactly why a drunk Tito had barged into her house searching for his best friend slash her secret boyfriend. It was only a brief moment of insecurity, before she managed to remind herself that this happened all the time, and she knew better than to be bothered by it. More importantly, she knew Donald better than to worry about him running off with someone whose defining characteristic was running marathons. And as soon as that thought landed, Daisy folded her arms across her chest and broke out into a wide grin, unable to resist the temptation to have a little fun with it.
âYeah, she sounds perfect for him,â she replied from the door to the hallway, glancing toward the staircase before looking back at Tito. âGod knows Donald needs someone confident who can keep up with his sardonic wit and isnât afraid of being in charge. But Iâm afraid I canât help you on your quest to find him true love. As you can see, heâs not here.â And by here, she meant the living room.

âYou canât not introduce your best friend to your datesâ he shook his head a little âI mean, how else I am supposed to tell you which ones are worth keeping?â Of course the scenario was one that, so far, had never actually occurred seeing as how eventually heâd wound up making out with them all.Â
-
"That depends,â Daisy started, shaking her head at the bartender when they approached and gestured to the empty glass, as if silently asking if she wanted another. She wouldnât have minded another, but even if she trusted the tipsy version of herself enough to think that she wouldnât accidentally blurt something out that gave away her secret, it was better to be safe than sorry. She already considered it a minor miracle that Gaddiel hadnât yet lucked out and found out about it. âWill you actually let me keep one?â
âWell.â Georgette took one more big sip before setting her glass down with an intentional dramatic clink. âThereâs always plenty of mediocre men throwing themselves at me, as we have discussed previously, but at the moment, itâs someone from Faginâs. I end up there sometimes, picking up Jenny when sheâs hanging out with The Unliked Friend. The scrappiest of those boys that works in the back has gotten rather attached to me. He seems the type to fawn over any beautiful woman he comes across, but he seems particularly fixated on me.â She wouldnât admit, of course, that she enjoyed his attentions more than others, for reasons unfathomable.
-
Daisy continued sipping her wine, her eyebrows travelling further up her forehead for each detail that Georgette let slip; the name of the restaurant, the description of the person in question, the statement that he seemed the type to fawn over any beautiful woman he comes across... It could be a coincidence, of course, but the immediate association was strong enough that she was fairly certain that she knew who her friend was referring to. âAre you talking about Tito?â she asked, an amused smile creeping up on her lips as she leaned forward and placed her wine glass next to Georgetteâs. âOf course he has a thing for you. Honestly, Iâve never met someone who manages to be both a hopeless romantic and a complete fuckboy at the same time. Heâs a nice person, though. All things considered.â Although she would never admit that she thought as much to his face.

BRIEF SUMMARY:Â Itâs Daisyâs graduation day, and throughout the day she finds herself reflecting on the various people in her life who have showed up to support her. (This is partially a reaction to Minnieâs self-para.)
Mornings in the Waddles household were never really chaotic, but on the day of Daisyâs graduation they had definitely been a little more hectic than usual. After her shower, she had gone to her fatherâs study to bring him his coffee and caught him doing his best Daisy impression while on the phone to the caterer for the party that evening, which was mildly troubling but also quite flattering. A part of her wished that they would have let her plan her own graduation party, considering the fact that she planned most of their parties these days, but they had both insisted on doing it themselves. Was she concerned about it? A little bit. But at the end of the day, she trusted her father and she knew that heâd come through for her. He always had.
Her mother, on the other hand, had decided to take all of her nervous energy and pour it into fussing over Daisyâs dress, and her hair, and her make up, and even her shoes, to the point that Daisy was starting to wonder if they would actually be able to make it on time. Normally, she might have gotten a little bit annoyed and insisted that she could take care of it herself, but when she looked over at her mother and caught the worried look on her face, she couldnât help the smile that slowly spread across her own. Because she could recognise it for what it was---a gesture of love.
So she nodded, and let her mother adjust the pins in her hair for the eleventh time. She would let her do it eleven times more if that was what she needed.
---------------
Daisy was able to pay attention during most of the ceremony, but between the speeches and the general pomp and circumstance, she found herself playing with the locket around her neck and letting her mind wander to the one person that she most wanted to see right after she walked across that stage. Of course, she knew that she would get to see Donald afterwards, but it wouldnât be in the way that she really wanted to and she wouldnât be able to greet him in the way that she wished that she could.
If it was up to her, then she would run up and throw her arms around him as soon as she saw him in the crowd. She would kiss him in front of her parents, and she would slip her hand into his and interlace their fingers as they walked out to the car together. She would stand beside him at her graduation party and introduce him to her friends and family, and friends of family, and family of friends. And she would walk out the door with him at the end of the evening to spend the night at his place after seeing off her cousins and hugging her parents goodbye.
And yes, she was aware that not being able to do those things was entirely her own choice, and that if she really wanted him to be there as her boyfriend, she could have asked Donald if he was ready to tell people about them. And perhaps there was a small part of her that wished that they had agreed to tell everybody before her graduation so that he actually could be there in the way that she wanted him to be.
But at the end of the day, it didnât really matter if he was there as her boyfriend, or as a friend of the family. Because she would be happy as long as he was there.
---------------
Even if she knew that it was coming, it almost felt surreal when she heard her name being called out. Her legs moved automatically, taking the stairs up to the stage one by one and then carefully putting one foot in front of the other as she walked across, realising from the butterflies in her stomach that she was a lot more nervous than she thought that she would be. Or at least, she was a lot more nervous until she heard one particular voice that stood out from the general cheering and applause of the crowd.
Because of course Gaddiel would stand up and cheer louder than anyone else there. Because heâs Gaddiel Gladstone, and if it was up to him, which it always was, he wouldnât have it any other way. Hell, even she wouldnât have it any other way. He was a ridiculous person, and she had spent the majority of their friendship rolling her eyes at him and his unreasonable luck while being not-so-secretly amused by it, but that didnât make him any less important to her. He was more than her friend. He was her family, and no matter if he actually became family one day, he was always going to be family to her.
Smiling to herself, she looked out at the crowd and winked. He might not be able to see it, but she figured that itâs what he would have done, anyway.
---------------
After the ceremony, Daisy followed the stream of graduates and guests who were all trying to find each other in the crowd, when she suddenly found herself swept off the ground bridal style and spun around in a circle by someone who she was 99% convinced was Gaddiel (because honestly, who else would it be?). Holding on as best as she could, she laughed delightedly until the fifth or sixth rotation when she narrowly avoided hitting someone with her heels in the flurry.
Donald. It was Donald. Who was walking up next to Scrooge.
She kept laughing as she was set down on the ground, the sound tapering off into an apologetic chuckle as she looked from Scrooge, to Donald, and then back again. (She vaguely noted that Della wasnât there, so she could only assume that she was in Alaska, or Madagascar, or... Somewhere.) Pulling herself together, Daisy put on her politest expression and reached out to shake Scroogeâs hand, thanking him for coming, before turning to Donald and hesitating for a moment before shaking his hand too. She lingered for a little bit, looking him straight in the eyes as a small, almost imperceptible smile tugged at her lips.
And that was when she saw it. A flash of blonde in the corner of her eye, a flash of blonde attached to a petite frame that she could have sworn was Minnie. Or at least someone that she thought was Minnie---she wasnât wearing pink, which threw her off slightly. At first, it looked like the not-pink-wearing maybe-Minnie was on her way over, but then she turned around and disappeared into the crowd.
For a moment, Daisyâs eyebrows furrowed and she wondered if that really was Minnie, and what that meant for them and their friendship. She had sort of assumed that they were going to make up eventually, because it was obvious to her that no matter what had happened or what was said, Minnie was still her best friend. But... If she was being completely honest with herself, their fight had gone on for longer than she thought that it would, and it was starting to worry her. She hadnât thought that it would last longer than a week. Let alone until her graduation.
And that was when Daisy realised that even after they fought, she hadnât even considered what it would feel like if Minnie wasnât at her graduation, because a part of her had still assumed that she would be. And she didnât really know how to feel about that now.
Pushing that thought to the back of her mind, she brought herself back to the present moment and let go of Donaldâs hand before turning to her parents, a big, relieved smile breaking out on her face as they pulled her into a hug.

+ Confident, Sophisticated, Caring
- Vain, Demanding, Ill-tempered
Daisy Waddles was born the only child of a Colombian heiress and an American self-made man. They were incredibly loving parents who doted on her and overindulged her, but also raised her in a family-centric household where even distant relatives were considered to be close knit connections. As a result, she was practically brought up with her extended family, including her many cousins, of whom she is the eldest. In addition to trying to instill good values in her, Daisyâs parents also loved to travel and exposed her to a lot of different cultures growing up, including trips to her motherâs home country every summer. Although she is definitely still a spoiled rich girl, her worldliness has made her a lot less sheltered and more of a realist compared to many of her friends.
As a person, Daisy is outgoing, argumentative, demanding and extremely high maintenance. She cares about appearances, both her own and others, and she can be a nightmare to work with because she expects the best from everyone around her and has a very low tolerance for mistakes and failures. For the most part, she can manage to keep a lid on her anger, but when she does lose her temper, it is incredibly volatile and tempestuous.
She can be both egotistical and vain, and from the outside it often seems like she only cares for herself, having fun with her friends, and various other superficial things in life. But being the eldest of her cousins has also made her quite caring, nurturing and mature when she wants to be, and she is not completely incapable of selfless behaviour. She can act like her family commitments bother her or like she considers them less important than the rest of her life, but deep down she loves her family more than anything in the world, and she would do anything for them; especially her younger cousins, whom she tries very hard to be a good role model for.
                         ~ Connections ~
Minnie Mousington ~ Daisy and Minnie were practically born side by side and have been attached at the hip since. They have always been the kind of inseparable best friends that do everything together and share everything with each other, with Minnie being the friendly optimist to Daisyâs bitchy realist, the Serena to her Blair. Although that generally works for them, the fact that people naturally gravitate toward Minnie can sometimes make Daisy feel overshadowed. She doesnât mean to compare herself, but itâs difficult not to when literally everyone else around them does as well.
Donald de Patos ~ From the outside, it might seem like Daisy and Donald donât even like each other. She always seems to have something to complain about or criticise him for, whether itâs his wardrobe or his temper, and they argue about almost everything. Heâs one of the few people who regularly says ânoâ to her and it infuriates her to no end. However, thatâs also what she likes about him the most. He challenges her, and she feels like she becomes a better version of herself when sheâs around him.
Minnie knew Daisy better then anyone so when it came to her fashion and her wardrobe she had this special little talent of seeing something and knowing it just screamed Daisy, besides she wasnât going to hold back because she internally felt like she had to make it up to the other for one, going on this trip without her and two, abandoning her on her first year of college. It wasnât that Minnie didnât want to attend university - she would eventually, but some people needed more time then others to adjust to that period and mindset, after all they had just finished High School and it would be more detrimental to her health to jump right into University without a break first,
But Daisy, Daisy was made for this, she knew she would do amazing at college; âI think I am just thinking about a lot of things like where my life is going, what my life is destined to become, what Iâm suppose to do now that Iâm out of high schoolâ it was such a scary time for not just her but anyone in the same position as her, they had this routine for so many years and now that she had graduated from that part of her life Minnie wasnât sure what to do; âI mean like the fact that the future is so big and so vast scares me and I literally feel like Iâm without options here - even though I know there are options I just feel-⌠weird about everythingâ probably rambling on too long there but she would circle back to Daisy in a minute.
Daisy let her gaze drift from the screen momentarily, still listening to Minnie at the same time as she observed the area around her; taking in the sight of students walking to class, or studying underneath a tree, or simply milling around the quad like she was. On some level, she realised how incredibly fortunate she was to know that she was exactly where she wanted to be, doing exactly what she wanted to do. It hadnât always been an easy or straightforward path and she had worked damn hard to get here but it was worth it in the end. And when she forgot about that, she just had to keep reminding herself of how far she had actually come. At least thatâs what her therapist kept trying to tell her.
Looking back at the screen, she opened her mouth to speak after Minnie had seemingly finished her first thought, before immediately closing it again when her friend suddenly launched into the second one. After she finished that one, Daisy waited just a little bit longer to make sure that she was actually done before replying. âYou shouldnât be so hard on yourself, Minn,â she started, offering the other girl a reassuring smile. âYouâre only eighteen, you donât need to know where your life is going, or what youâre destined to become yet. Youâve got plenty of time to figure all of that out.â Pausing, she reached for her cup of coffee and had another sip before continuing. âBesides, thatâs part of what this trip is for, right? To give yourself time to think about what you want to do?â
âItâs going to happen one way or anotherâ Gaddiel smirked, wondering now if he could convince the man that had been sending him drinks to buy him something to eat too. He really had eaten that eclair too fast. âLucky for you Iâve never had a stupid opinion in my life.â
âNo, I just make stupid decisions in regards to you,â Daisy quipped back with a smirk, her gaze flitting between Gaddiel and the man who was currently treating an actual lottery winner to free drinks. Looking back at him, she downed the rest of her martini before continuing. âRemind me to never introduce you to one of my dates again.â Not that she actually cared anymore, but given the situation she had to at least pretend like she did.
Georgette mirrored Daisyâs toast and matched her sip. âWe can both certainly afford to keep our standards high, literally and figuratively.â She gave a wry smile at her own joke. âSubpar things do tend to find me, though, it seems. And subpar people,â she mused into her glass as she took another drink. One subpar person, in particular. Who was cute but annoying and kind but brash and she was totally out of his league and it would never work.
Daisyâs eyebrows shot up her forehead immediately at her friendâs statement. Granted, the vast majority of the population of Andromeda was subpar in comparison to Georgette Foxworth, but she was definitely still interested in whatever story lay behind that particular statement. âIâm intrigued,â she mused, having another sip of her wine and swirling the liquid around mostly for dramatic effect. âDo you have a particular subpar person in mind?â

There were a lot of things she felt were changing and were shifting in her life, this was the first time in her life that she didnât have an obligation to go or attend a school or have that routine and Minnie didnât know if she loved the freedom or hated it, which she supposed was what this trip was suppose to help her understand. What was it that she wanted to do with her life? What was she suppose to do with her life? Was this all a mistake? Should she have done what Daisy did and just go to Polaris?
There were so many questions and it was honestly making her head hurt, but it was probably a good thing that she had the lovely scenery of Paris to distract her during that, as well as her best friend on a much smaller scale then usual but it definitely helped none the less; âParis is-⌠cold, Itâs nice here though definitely a looker through all the seasons, I am loving some of the fashion pieces here which reminds me-⌠did you want me to pick you up any thing while Iâm here?â knowing that Daisy loved her fashion as much as Minnie did.
âMe personally-.. Iâm in my mind about a couple of things, questioning a lot but I feel like the more I think about the worse it getsâ lifting her tea cup to her lips as she communicated with the other before speaking again; âI mean maybe itâs me right? Maybe Iâm just being silly-⌠unless youâre overthinking things too-⌠how are things back home?â wanting to make sure that she kept in touch with Daisy as much as she could as this could be a real test to their relationship.
Daisy perked up considerably at the mention of fashion from Paris. She had always maintained a meticulous closet, and the thought of adding a few new pieces to it was almost enough to make up for the fact that she was not there to experience Paris herself. âSurprise me, you know what I like,â she replied, sipping her coffee. Of course, she knew that she could have been travelling in Europe with her best friend if she wanted to be, and she would be lying if she said that she hadnât at least considered going at one point. But in the end, working toward a future that she already had big dreams and aspirations for had felt like a better use of her time, and she ultimately didnât regret her decision.
She put her coffee down, balancing her phone against her legs as she tore a small chunk from her muffin and popped it in her mouth, thinking over Minnieâs words. âThings are good, mostly,â Daisy summarised, putting her breakfast away and picking up her phone as she leaned against the trunk. It wasnât technically a lie. Her family was well. Classes were at least a little bit interesting. She had met some cool people and been to a couple of great parties. Did it matter that she was potentially, maybe, possibly just a teensy, tiny bit heartbroken and that she didnât want to talk about it because it was embarrassing as all hell? âAnd youâre probably not being silly. I think itâs normal to start questioning things when youâre away from home. What are you thinking about?â
Alice leaned forward so their elbows rested on the table, a thoughtful look gracing their features. They intended on taking notes, but ended up more distracted by Daisy taking hers and only ended up not writing anything of great importance. Alice was sure that Daisy would keep things organised for them anyway, so it didnât matter too much, but they had to at least look like they were preparing themselves.
âI agree,â Alice replied with a firm nod. âSort of like an informal talk show on TV, I suppose. But less false, and we arenât talking about either of our upcoming roles in an international blockbuster.â Alice would have to remind themselves before beginning not to go off on any tangents, as they tended to do. âHow many talking points, do you think?â Alice asked. âIf weâre talking about narrative it would you be useful to have aâ Well, a narrative. If there arenât enough the likelihood of me going on and on and on might be quite high.â
Daisy let out an amused laughter at Aliceâs words. Knowing them, they were probably making a sincere attempt at a useful analogy as opposed to a sarcastic joke about the spin machine that was Hollywood PR, but because she (as an aspiring journalist) liked making fun of PR, she couldnât help but find it funny either way, âLucky for both of us, being sincere should be the least of our problems,â she replied with a sincere (see!) smile, looking up from the screen. Perhaps sincere was the wrong word to describe herself in general, but she prided herself on being largely honest, and very opinionated. On the other hand, she had met many people in her life who acted incredibly false. Alice was definitely not one of them.
Pushing her laptop to the side, Daisy let out a contemplative hum as she leaned forward to rest her chin in one of her hands, using the other to tap her nails against the table. âDefinitely enough to have a clear beginning, middle, and end,â she concluded with a nod, pulling her laptop toward her again and continuing to take notes. âBut honestly, I wonât mind if we end up going off-topic at any point. I have an editor for a reason.âÂ
âGot that right, sister.â Georgette leaned forward again to fill up each of their glasses generously before grabbing them and holding Daisyâs back out to her. She was more than ready to finish off this bottle, and as many more as this talk session would take. âBeing the bigger person is overrated anyway. If you do it too much the other person gets complacent and starts taking you for granted. If someone canât do that for me at least sometimes, theyâre not worth my time.â
Daisy accepted the refilled glass with an appreciative smile, happy that their drinking and dishing night had become enough of a tradition that they both knew there was no such thing as a glass that was too full of wine. âAmen to that,â she agreed, raising her glass in a toast before helping herself to another generous sip. âBesides, thereâs nothing wrong with having high standards. Life is too short to waste time on subpar services, friends, or partners. There are only so many mistakes I can tolerate from other people before losing it.â
âItâs possible, though wouldnât we want the best place and weâd only know if the first try was the best if I sampled from more placesâ he pointed out, not about to only be able to try food from one place. âFine. Fine I wonât veto Donaldâ
âYou just want more free food, donât you?â Daisy retorted, shaking her head at him (again) before having another sip of her drink. âLucky for you, actually taking your opinion into account is another best friend privilege youâll be able to enjoy now. Although if you have stupid opinions, I still reserve the right to ignore them.â

FLASHBACK PARA: SEPTEMBER 2016 { FACETIME } LOCATION: LATE SUMMER - EARLY AUTUMN IN PARIS
Once high school ended Minnie couldnât see herself going straight to university, which didnât mean she wasnât ever going to go but, she might take some more time getting there considering high school was so full on for her with all the assignments and finals, she just wanted a moment to breathe, clear her mind, take her time and when she felt she was ready then she could go back to doing whatever she wanted to do.Â
Which was completely fine because everyone grows at their own pace and some people - like Daisy - wanted to go to university directly after graduating high school and some just needed that extra moment, there was no right or wrong way to do things but that was why she was currently in Paris, sitting on her balcony with her phone perched up on a tea cup just waiting for Daisy to send her a text message of when everything would be okay to call.
She had to be honest in saying that she was rather nervous to call Daisy since being here because she had never been so apart from her before and it was weird but it was definitely something she felt was good to experience she truly felt like their relationship was something that would stand the test of time so there was nothing that - she felt - she had to worry about;Â âDAISE! HIâ immediately accepting her call request. { @daisygoesliveâ }
A lot of things were changing in Daisyâs life. It was the first time since birth that she was away from Minnie for an extended period of time, and while it had felt strange and difficult at first to be without the person who tended to coax her out of her shell, she was slowly starting to get used to being on her own. Not that she had really been on her own since her high school graduation. Between her secret summer fling (which had ended spectacularly poorly, but since nobody else knew about it, she had decided that she didnât have to think about it), her classes at Polaris, and the friends that she had started making there, it seemed that Daisy had her hands full with new experiences and fresh impressions. From time to time her usual insecurities nagged at the back of her head, but she tried her best not to let them get to her or get in the way of the life that she had slowly started building for herself, by herself.
âHey Minn,â she greeted back, smiling and waving at the screen. Daisy was sitting underneath a tree in the quad, enjoying a fresh cup of coffee and a breakfast muffin after having just gotten out of her morning lecture. âHow are you? Howâs Paris?â
