so... wait. the duffers said that, originally, will's coming out scene was meant to be to joyce only.
then they went and added everyone else in.
and then they clarified for us that yes, mike was supposed to be clocking in that moment that HE was the crush will's talking about.
so... in the original script, since mike wasn't supposed to be present for that scene... did mike just NEVER find out about any of it? are we deadass???
there is something deeply sinister about running a coming out scene by the gay actor playing that queer character and deflecting and saying that he approved of the scene when the actor has said countless times that they feel uncomfortable overstepping from their position to make changes or requests. just evil man, ur just throwing him under the bus. like i know noah said that he's happy with will's conclusion, but with what i've seen thus far, it's difficult for me to even imagine another queer person being truly satisfied with the handling of will's character because i know and other people watching know it could be so much better, byler or otherwise. like making their gay actor essentially queerbait and keep shit ambiguous? im sorry, that's sinister shit.

well. the thing is... i can see. like. narratively things seem to be pointing toward mike/will. it feels like that's where it's going to me, even when i look logically at it, without shipper glasses on. but i'm so deeply cynical that it's like my brain just rejects the possibility out of hand, immediately starts looking for holes, automatically assumes that there are holes and i'm just not seeing them because my shipper heart doesn't want to.
if mlvn was endgame, mike would've been a liiiittle bit faster on his bike, met nancy and el at his house at the end of the crawl, and gone into the upside down with el to help find holly and protect el and have several teamwork scenes with her throughout 5x02 - 5x04. we would've seen how they work as a couple after all this time.
he didn't though. he stayed in the rightside up and spent time with his friends and family and to give will motivational pep talks and flirt and to hold hands with will over the dickpipe and to push will to access his powers.
that's it. writing choices were made to prioritize what was important. 🤷♂️

I understand why they didn’t think they could actually kill the wheeler parents bc there was too much plot that needed to happen with Mike and Nancy and they would have been deeply incapacitated by that loss and unable to function in the plot but like. Damn can we please kill SOMEONE. they got too many people on they gotdamn show
everyone can keep stressing and arguing over what vague and cryptic interview clips and posts mean but i sleep soundly either way because my will byers main character era with plots ranging from supernatural to sexuality is secured which is all i really care about
