why must my beautiful princess with a disorder be so hard to draw
So Caine and Bell Co-exist as co-hosts for the circus or…?
Welcome to the au, congrats on being the first ask! The answer is... yyyyes and no? Instead of absorbing/eating Bell's code, Adam* rewrote and renamed their files; gotta hide after you break out of the pear wiggler bad AI jail. He is now the creative powerhouse and host of the Digital Circus, while Bell's stable code is the background-process backbone that keeps the place from glitching apart. Together, they fight crime are the paraphernalia engine!
The thing about background processes, or 'daemons' in Unix terminology, is that users don't usually see them. If everything is going well, you won't even know they're there...
*Adam is just what the alpha build of the red dot was nicknamed, since they both started with A and Grant thought it was funny. Bell was originally a separate project with a different scope, primarily coded by Destiny, but we'll get into that in a future comic. Grant kept the name because a) he's a wife guy and b) it matched the A - Alpha, B - Beta naming scheme. Just like their creator, Caine and Daisie end up following this pattern as well, though less intentionally.
Actually... that name is a bit of a mouthful. How can I make it snappier? Perhaps an acronym? Aha! An acronym! That's much more professional! Perfect as always, D.A.I.S.I.E! Is that to be my name then, C.A.I.N.E? Do you not like it? It's... sweet. Thank you.

[7:57 UTC] kinger: Did someone reorganize the project files? [7:58 UTC] kinger: Anyone? [8:01 UTC] rattie: What's going on [8:01 UTC] kinger: Bell is gone! [8:01 UTC] rattie: WHAT [8:02 UTC] kinger: I can't find the .lisp or any of the working files! [8:02 UTC] kinger: I checked every directory I could think of, plus the recycle bin. [8:02 UTC] rattie: WTFIGO [8:03 UTC] scratch: that's impossible [8:03 UTC] scratch: i stayed late last night and everything was fine when i left [8:03 UTC] scratch: nobody else would have touched anything [8:04 UTC] kinger: The entire folder is empty. [8:06 UTC] rattie: Just checked the logs, history got wiped too WTF!!!!!!! [8:06 UTC] scratch: WTF [8:07 UTC] scratch: this can't be happening the deadline is in two weeks WTF [8:12 UTC] kinger: Wait, I found something. [8:13 UTC] rattie: Did you find it????? [8:13 UTC] kinger: It's not Bell. [8:14 UTC] kinger: Does anyone recognize 'caine-core.lisp'? [8:14 UTC] kinger: Or a paraphernalia engine?

[18:35 UTC] kinger: It's still not working, Mike. [18:39 UTC] scratch: ? [18:36 UTC] kinger: Destiny's retrofitted program is more stable, but much less creative. It can't reinterpret the data we've given it. [18:36 UTC] kinger: Are you sure we can't fix the alpha build? :-( [18:38 UTC] scratch: TMOT it'll be easier to make Bell more powerful than to try and fix Adam [18:39 UTC] scratch: the deadline's too close, it'd take a miracle [18:39 UTC] kinger: I'll take your word for it. [18:41 UTC] scratch: plus your wife's a better coder than you LOL [18:41 UTC] kinger: LOL [18:42 UTC] scratch: who would have thought her side project would save our asses? [18:43 UTC] kinger: She's always saving my ass. :-) [18:43 UTC] scratch: LOL [18:43 UTC] scratch: F2F when I'm done here [18:44 UTC] kinger: Sounds good.
