Breaking my silence
I see some people questioning and voicing their opinions on why the people who are out protesting are looting and destroying buildings.And I just wanna voice my opinion on that also...
First,let me start by saying,I wasn't born and raised in America.My ancestors are not from America.But I am a black woman in America raising two black boys with a black husband.I also have nephews other family members and a whole lot of in laws who are all black and are Americans which who's Ancestors has helped built this country and endured slavery here in America.And I also have witnessed and have been a victim of racism encounters and mistreatment of police misconduct in the few years I have lived here in America so far.
Black America is tired!!!And I feel the pain and anger these people are going through.This is not a issue that just started yesterday,this has been going on ever since those slave ships docked at the shores of this land.And these ppl have been dealing with this mistreatment since then and I who just came here to live a few years ago had to deal with some of the same issues also,that people who have been here all their lives encounter on a daily basis just because of the color of my skin.One incident that occurred a few years ago,where my husband and I were pulled over by police officers just because we had nice car and when was ask by my husband why we were pulled over the cop replied by calling my husband a dickhead.And we reported the issue to internal affairs with the video proof(because I did record the incident)All we got in return was a sorry letter from internal affairs apologizing.Now tell me,what did they do to held this officer accountable for his actions . NOTHING!!!!So I do feel the anger black America is going through because now I am apart of this community ever since I landed my feet here automatically because of the color of my skin.
So these people looting and destroying buildings is doing it out of frustration because the leaders and other people who do have a voice that will be heard by the higher authorities if they speak isn't speaking or care to do anything about what is been done to my fellow people here in America.These are some of the same people who owns 90%of these stores and businesses and look forward for black America to spend their money at these businesses etc.And top of all of that they still don't care or give a damn about the struggles,pain and suffering the black community been and have to deal with on a daily basis."A hungry man is a angry man",And black America is hungry for justice,peace,equal rights,freedom etc.Now tell me,as a black woman in America raising two black boys and two black step sons along with my husband,we are suppose to be teaching our children love for others no matter the skin color,equality amongst people etc. Now,how do society expect us to educate our children on these topics when they don't get treated equally just because of their skin color and who they are identified as which is African Americans.
Hearing George Floyd cried out for his mother while going through his pain of death hurts my womb,my soul and my heart as a mother who gave birth to black boys who one day will become black men of this here society.Its time for a change and I do stand with my fellow people of color and their current actions within the streets of a America.
