Dahlia

“That sounds disgusting and I may just vomit.” He covered his mouth before coughing. “There has to be another way. Any other way.”

“Oh, really, I’m not the party type anyways. But uh, no, I don’t think so?”

“Anticlimactic is pretty much exactly the word I would use,” hhe agreed, chuckling. “Mm.. no, you know, I didn’t, but I was also really tied up with that twister tournament Luc and I had going. And the Cluedo fiasco,” he added, “..and dancing with Evans.” He grinned at the other redhead in his life, his eyes lighting up. “no, no, no, that’s exactly what we need, babe. The CBN. Couch, blanket, netflix. Boom.” He wound his arms around her as she adjusted her human shackles, becoming the human blanket he was always meant to be. “ So we’ll grab some drinks, grab the snacks from the dorms, and then when everyone else skitters off to class we can binge watch something, or have a nap, or whatever.” 

         she’ll  smile,  but  it  didn’t  reach  her  eyes  that  now  narrowed.     “     no,  no,  choca.  don’t  presume  it  smart  to  wave  that  hand  at  me,  lest  you  want  to  lose  it.  we  were  both  sitting  here,  i’m  not  going  anywhere,  considering  this  is  a  place  to  study.  since  you  seem  too  invested  in  things  other  than  broadening  your  mind,  which  you  clearly  should  reconsider,  i’d  say  you  should  be  excused.       ”

“I think he needs an exorcist spell…or something to make him less…poltergeist-y.” Her nose crinkled up briefly as she thought. That was one benefit, she supposed, to being Muggleborn. No relatives had a chance to feed her false information about how things operated at the school.

“That’s very… Peeves like.” She managed to say with a smile, returning to her book for a few seconds before adding, “at least you got a story out of it. I can’t get close to Peeves without him attempting to throw eggs at me.”

“Don’t worry. When I was in first year I tried to befriend as many ghosts in the castle as I could. It kinda worked, Myrtle still says hello whenever she sees me. So don’t worry, your secret is completely safe with me.”

“Oh wow. Blessed be, we’re like soul mates.” Dahlia laughed at her own awful joke, but smiled even after the chuckling had subsided. “I still see Myrtle occasionally. She’s a gem. Maybe we should make our own club? The protectors of the dearly departed. But.. hmm I’m not sure Peeves would fit under that.”

“True,” he agreed. “I’m the best husband there is. You’re very lucky to have me and my cute butt.” He tossed a wink back at her as he shifted on the bench so that he could straddle it, making himself more comfortable as he trapped Dahlia in his leg prison of sorts. “Honestly, Dahl, I would say you were edging… You got closer and closer… you’d get right there, so fuckin’ close to spilling something juicy, and then nothing. I don’t know, it was crazy. You avoided your truth-gasm for the better part of the night. Nothing interesting out of you at all, to the disappointment of all, I’m sure.”

“I’m extremely blessed.” Dahlia countered as she lifted the mug of hot tea closer to her. Meanwhile she leaned against James tiredly and she needed to have the contact. “Oh dud. Really? Ugh how anticlimactic. Sorry love. Did we find out anything interesting at the party? Like Quidditch plays?” She smiled and sipped her tea. “Bollocks. Do we really have to go to class today? Or can we just ditch?” One of her hands moved to tighten his leg prison of sorts.

             her  fingers  pinch  the  bridge  of  her  nose, whipping  her  glasses  off  to  drop  them  next  to  her  work.      “     was  there  more  to  this  useless  conversation  or  ??      ”

“Unless you consider finishing a Herbology paper fun, I’d say no.”

“Depends what kind of herb it is.” Dahlia snorted unconventionally, but got ahold of herself. “Sorry you missed out, but then again there’s always going to be party to go to. Have any papers to write tonight?”

Andromeda stopped, “Husband?” her mind wasn’t catching up with her day just yet and she couldn’t remember half of the things she supposed to know before class.

Dahlia nodded, “Yes, James. He’s my husband. He’s  the Potter to my Wood. The Jimjam to my butter. I could keep going.” She snickered and chuckled to herself. “Do you have a headache? I was about to go on the hunt for some herbs to cure mine.”

“No…” Lily said, glancing over in her direction. “But did you actually have tea parties with Peeves?”

Dahlia hummed a bit wondering what sort of grave she was digging herself, since it was Lily after all who spilled the tea about the party. Oh well. “If you count tea parties as him throwing the table at other students saying he was not Martha, then I guess so. There was tea and there was Peeves, for a split second. ” 

“Erm… no idea. All I know is that my head hurts and I want the room to stop spinning.”

“That is a mood Frank. Have you tried drinking egg yolk? My mum used to say that was a good hangover remedy. I’ll try it with you and most certainly not invite Peeves to join us or Headless Nick.”

“Wait, wait, wait. You used to do what now?” Mary’s hands curled around her cup of coffee as the red-head before her groaned. “What would possess you to do that?”

Dahlia lifted her head up in the air, tilting her head back a bit dramatically with a loud sigh. However she chuckled aloud at the length of time she had at least kept this secret. “Tried to be Peeve’s Tea friend. I thought he would make a lovely Martha at the table. But ugh.. my nutter cousin said he was a friendly ghost and he just needed friends.”

“I think there’s lots of people who don’t really remember, or at least it seems that way. I wasn’t there.”

“Bollocks. What did you end up doing last night? Anything fun?”

“Well, you’ve just mentioned it now. Whoops?”

“Damn it. Can you keep a secret?”
