My laptop stopped working and I lost everything on it... including the custom content I was making... But now I have a new laptop that I'm trying to take really good care of so this doesn't happen to me again. 🤦‍♀️

“Compatible skin overlays and skin details”, a little tutorial.

Can’t put standard freckles over the skin overlays? Can’t set up your vampire sim’s dark form the way you want it not sacrificing your overlays? Can’t put an Maxis Match overlay over an alpha-overlay?

Those issues will no longer bother you!

At least if you follow all the instrustions from this post.

I’ve been trying to solve the overlay skintones problem for so long, because sacrificing an overlay for a skin detail and vice versa is a big obstacle to creating characters, but I still couldn’t find anything. And only once I bumped into something close, which still didn’t answer my question, but sent me in the right direction.

Here’s Attila. He’s a vampire. It took me a long time to create his image and pick overlays and skin details. His human form looks real good, isn’t it?

But when I started working on Attila’s dark form, the overlay brought me an unpleasant surprise. Honestly, it wasn’t a surprise to me, because I did know that you can’t put vampire skin details over an overlay, but I tend to forget about that when I start working on the human form.

I like to make specific dark forms. That’s why I do need vampire skin details, but as far as you can see, they don’t appear on Attila.

Not using an overlay is not a good idea because it’s an important part of Attila’s appearance. Let’s just fix that small issue. First of all, find the overlay you need in your “Mods” folder. Then go to The Sims 4 Studio and open “My Projects”. Find and choose your overlay in the new window.

Your overlay will be probably opened in the Studio tub, but you have to go to Warehouse, which means you must see this:

The next step is not necessary, but strongly desirable to make. Sort everything on the left side choosing Cas Part (choose one of the variants excepting Thumbnail) and type SortLayer on the right. Most of the overlays have characteristics like that and even bigger which doesn’t let skin details be seen.

Different details need different numbers, but I suggest you to choose 1900 so you can see every skin detail. Then you have to repeat that all for other CasParts and save the file.

Now, when it has been fixed, Attila’s dark form looks the way it should. You can also put any else overlay over the first one. Have a nice game!

Notice: That only works for skin overlays, not for other skintones.

Inkling & Octoling Eyemasks for The Sims 4

Hello. I have (finally) finished these eyemasks after a few months. I actually completely forgot I was working on them at one point... ._

But here they are now.

Some Inkling and Octoling eyemasks from Splatoon 2, so you can make the freshest squid children to the rawest octo-seniors.

These are SKIN DETAILS, which means they will appear on your Sim at all times. If you don’t want this, I’ve included a face paint version. They also come in a few different skin detail types in case you use a CC skin or want another skin detail on your Sim.

(Don’t ask why the Inkling girl is blue.)

This is the Inkling eyemask. It took me many tries to get it as accurate as possible without distortion. These may look a *tad* distorted on some face shapes, since the Inklings and Octolings have flat nose bridges and big eyes...

This is the female Octoling eyemask. Not to be confused with the enemy Octolings. This also took me a few tries to get as accurate as possible.

This is the male Octoling eyemask. It looks just like the one for the females, minus the eyelash on the bottom. The easiest one I made.
