Throwback today to a time when love was new and courting was the order of the day. I love this episode, it’s probably in my top 3. Mr Bates being a noble bastard, Anna not caring and trying to persuade him that she wanted to be with him, no matter what. 'I love you, Mr Bates...’ says Anna, claiming it isn’t lady like to say so. Then Mr Bates perfect reply, 'You are a lady to me, and I never knew a finer one.' Swoon. O.T.P.

'Will you miss me?' - Series 1 Episode 7

Agh, these two. Anna has told Mr Bates she loves him, Mr Bates has told Anna in ‘his way’ that he loves her too, but she needs to find a better man. They almost shared a kiss, damn whoever interrupted them. I still haven’t forgiven whoever it was. Anna is going away, and asks the man she loves if he is going to miss her. His smile in response is adorable, her asking in the first place is adorable. Then, because he thinks he will be dismissed, he tells her not to miss him, as it will be good practice. We all know Anna found out the truth behind his imprisonment whilst in London, but every time I watch this now I still feel the pain in John’s words, still see in Anna’s eyes how much she just wants him to believe in them.
