Xzavier only laughed a bit more at his words, Well it was a known fact that he himself did adore the idea of being right and most of the time when it came down to itâ he was. âBeing wrong isnât always a bad thing?â he offered kindly enough, his voice in a soft tone now as if to slightly ease the feelings the other might be experiencing. âBeing wrong gives you room to learn. Learn the right answers and see a bit more than you did before.â he offered before closing his book after slipping in a thin piece of paper for a bookmark, he was a bit too cheap to go and actually buy a bookmarkâwhy buy a piece of paper to go inside when you can just make your own? Those were his stubborn thoughts.
âI know Iâm not an actor,â he started speaking, turning some in his seat and lifting his arm to rest his elbow atop of the surface of the desk beside him, his  arm bending at the middle junction so he could rest a fist to his jawline and support his head while leaning into it slightly. âBut, You should likeâ Fall in love with the characterâs right?â he suggested before humming softly. âI think about it like if I was an actor there would be some role types I would wanna play and the first one would be Someone I can relate to, The next would be someone different completely from me, Another would be someone who I can learn something fromâSomeone who I want/ to be like.â He spoke slowly thinking of them as he went along. âSome people think that its best to take an easier route and sometimes thatâs trueâ But definitely taking a chance and doing the harder route is sometimes is more beneficial.â
A deep sigh left him as he rubbed at his eyes gently, feeling kinda tired since it was raining out todayâ the weather was seriously making him feel like he could pass out at any moment. âEven if it hurts when you lose, Eventually youâll see that there was somethingâeven the smallest of things that you could take and learn from it.â he finished now before yawning and scrunching his face before staring off blankly. âThis weather is going to be the end of me.â He murmured softly to himself as he ran his fingers through his own hair.
"Anyway, What Iâm saying is that youâre right. If you keep playing characters that youâve already done, how can you learn more? youâre limiting yourself and your growthâHow will you know how far you can go if you never leave your spot.â he spoke before rolling his hand in a nonchalant fashion, starting to feel embarrassed about the soft sort of advice he was giving the other. "Something like that, at least âŚâ he muttered to make it seem less.
Another snort left him at the otherâs words. âEr, Gaston doesnât believe that women should read or have any knowledge. Iâd never be such a vile person, I like my women smart.â he playfully cooed before letting out a laugh now, his lips curling up now as his eyebrows raised. âGaston was pretty handsome, though, wasnât he? I canât be too negatively impacted I guess with that thought in mind even though we both know Iâm the lesser in looks between the two of us.â he chuckled  softly, knowing that he himself was rather plainâ He alway had no hesitance in calling himself ugly and usually this resulted in people getting in an uproar about it, but he believed it to be true.
daeyeon had listen attentively to what the other had said, nodding his head along the way, but xavâs last comment had struck something. âlesser in looks?â he snorted, rolling his eyes. his head drifted to the side, his cheek resting where his chin had just been. âyouâve got to be kidding me.â although daeyeon usually came off as a little full of himself and overly confident, it was only a facade to cover what he disliked â which was most of him. daeyeon had always struggled with his outer appearance. he would often sit in front of the mirror poking at his puffy cheeks, or at his stomach, and it didnât help that his friends would always make jokes about him, about his cheeks, about his belly. but of course when he was with them, he would laugh at it. he never felt good about his weight. and he always thought he had too many moles, his face was too round, his eyes too turned up at the end, expressed too much, walked too flamboyant.
he pulled his head up again to look at xzavier. âyou think youâre lesser in looks than me? me? iâm already at the bottom of the scale, dude, you canât get any lower. on a scale of one to ten on looking fat and stupid, ten being the worst: iâm at an eleven, and youâre at negative two. people consider you the hottest person in the room, but you donât see it â which, i donât understand because i could have sworn you wear contacts to help you see things? right?â the irritation in daeyeonâs voice was obvious. he quickly turned his head away from xav, his frustration melting down into embarrassment. but he didnât apologize â why would he need to? he thought.
âyou know, maybe thatâs it.â he had thought about it before, about how maybe casting directors saw those things about daeyeon. âmaybe itâs looks. maybe i look too⌠i donât know. gross?â he couldnât put it into words. well, he probably could, he didnât want to hear it come out of his own mouth.
he had thought about why he wasnât getting cast, a lot more than what he said earlier. most of the time it was because of how he looked, and he was working on that! he was losing weight, to be more attractive. although, skipping many meals wasnât the most healthy way to do that⌠but no one needed to know that thatâs what he had been doing. obviously, it was more than just his looks that wasnât getting him cast. he had thought â what if itâs just him? he, as a person. before college, he had sat through a couple lectures that told him about interviews for scholarships, jobs, etc. âbe weary of what you put online, some jobs will search you.â he had thought for so long before realizing that yeah, it probably was him. it was him being so open with himself, his sexuality. posting pictures of him and minghao on instagram, talking about how much he loves him. it was so probable. and how did that make him feel? shitty. he sat in silence as he went back on the thought.
it made daeyeonâs chest fill with anxiety, stealing the breath from his lungs. he choked for a gasp of air before putting his forehead down to rest right on his knees. he wanted to cry. he sniffled a bit, his eyes watering. a moment before, they had just discussed the reason why daeyeon wasnât getting roles. so, why was he here crying now?
âiâm probably reaching, but,â he sniffed. âdo you think itâs me? like, do you think all those casting directors look me up, and see that iâm gay? is that what it is?â he was right, he was reaching. daeyeon knew that he was over-reacting, but he also knew that â yeah, to some extent, it could be true. the country was conservative, it was not america, it was not utah. there were no laws in place either to stop hiring discrimination. âsorry, this is stupid. iâm stupid.â
