i have loved you

Here you can find a lot of the differences with Jorah’scharacter specifically. As for their relationship, the unrequited love is a lotmore noticeable in the books, whereas the show seems to give us a little hopethat she could have feelings for him as well. Book Dany always looks to him asan advisor and friend.

Notable plot differences:

- There is a significant age difference betweenDany and Jorah in the books (roughly 30 years?)

-  Book Jorah kisses Dany on the ship after theyleave Qarth

-  Book Jorah never returns after being dismissedas he does in the show (also I’m pretty sure the greyscale doesn’t happen?)

- In the books, Dany has not yet sailed for Westeros

Ser Jorah smiled sadly. “Why, she looked a bit like you,Daenerys.” He bowed low. “Sleep well, my queen.”

Dany shivered, and pulled the lionskin tight about her. Shelooked like me. It explained much that she had not truly understood. He wantsme, she realized. He loves me as he loved her, not as a knight loves his queenbut as a man loves a woman. She tried to imagine herself in Ser Jorah’s arms,kissing him, pleasuring him, letting him enter her. It was no good. When sheclosed her eyes, his face kept changing into Drogo’s.

Ser Jorah slid his arms around her.

“Oh,” was all Dany had time to say as he pulled her closeand pressed his lips down on hers. He smelled of sweat and salt and leather,and the iron studs on his jerkin dug into her naked breasts as he crushed herhard against him. One hand held her by the shoulder while the other slid downher spine to the small of her back, and her mouth opened for his tongue, thoughshe never told it to. His beard is scratchy, she thought, but his mouth issweet. The Dothraki wore no beards, only long mustaches, and only Khal Drogohad ever kissed her before. He should not be doing this. I am his queen, nothis woman.

It was a long kiss, though how long Dany could not havesaid. When it ended, Ser Jorah let go of her, and she took a quick stepbackward. “You… you should not have…”

“I should not have waited so Iong,” he finished for her. “Ishould have kissed you in Qarth, in Vaes Tolorro. I should have kissed you inthe red waste, every night and every day. You were made to be kissed, often andwell.” His eyes were on her breasts. Dany covered them with her hands, beforeher nipples could betray her. “I… that was not fitting. I am your queen.”

“My queen,” he said, “and the bravest, sweetest, and mostbeautiful woman I have ever seen. Daenerys –“

“Your Grace!”

“Your Grace,” he conceded, “the dragon has three heads,remember? You have wondered at that, ever since you heard it from the warlocksin the House of Dust. It might have been kinder if you’d died there. Dany saidnothing. There was nothing to say.

You did not die in battle, so it must be they still havesome use for you. But I don’t. I will not have you near me. You are banished,ser. “No.” He reached for her. “Daenerys, please, hear me…”

She slapped his hand away. “Do not ever presume to touch meagain, or to speak my name. You have until dawn to collect your things andleave this city. If you’re found in Meereen past break of day, I will haveStrong Belwas twist your head off. I will. Believe that.” She turned her backon him, her skirts swirling. I cannot bear to see his face. “Remove this liarfrom my sight,” she commanded. I must not weep. I must not. If I weep I willforgive him.

Meereen was not her home, and never would be. It was a cityof strange men with strange gods and stranger hair, of slavers wrapped infringed tokars, where grace was earned through whoring, butchery wasart, and dog was a delicacy. Meereen would always be the Harpy’s city, andDaenerys could not be a harpy.

Never, said the grass, in the gruff tones of JorahMormont. You were warned, Your Grace. Let this city be, I said. Your war isin Westeros, I told you.

The voice was no more than a whisper, yet somehow Dany feltthat he was walking just behind her. My bear, she thought, my oldsweet bear, who loved me and betrayed me. She had missed him so.

She wanted to see his ugly face, to wrap her arms around himand press herself against his chest, but she knew that if she turned around SerJorah would be gone. “I am dreaming,” she said. “A waking dream, a walkingdream. I am alone and lost.”

Lost, because you lingered, in a place that you werenever meant to be, murmured Ser Jorah, as softly as the wind. Alone,because you sent me from your side.

“You betrayed me. You informed on me, for gold.”

For home. Home was all I ever wanted. “And me. Youwanted me.” Dany had seen it in his eyes. I did, the grass whispered,sadly. “You kissed me. I never said you could, but you did. You sold me to myenemies, but you meant it when you kissed me.”

I gave you good counsel. Save your spears and swords forthe Seven Kingdoms, I told you. Leave Meereen to the Meereenese and go west, Isaid. You would not listen.

“I had to take Meereen or see my children starve along themarch.” Dany could still see the trail of corpses she had left behind hercrossing the Red Waste. It was not a sight she wished to see again. “I had totake Meereen to feed my people.”

You took Meereen, he told her, yet still youlingered. “To be a queen.”

You are a queen, her bear said. In Westeros. “Itis such a long way,” she complained. “I was tired, Jorah. I was weary of war. I wanted to rest, to laugh, toplant trees and see them grow. I am only a young girl.”

No. You are the blood of the dragon. The whisperingwas growing fainter, as if Ser Jorah were falling farther behind. Dragonsplant no trees. Remember that. Remember who you are, what you were madeto be. Remember your words.

“Fire and Blood,” Daenerys told the swaying grass.
