as  if  lucid  in  the  middle  of  the  day,  mindless,   attention  snapped  back  to  reality,   ----   or  more  specifically,  to  betty  cooper.  shared  gaze,  spider  -  leg  lashes  accented  weary  eyes.    “  i’m   good,   promise.  ”    reassured  at  the  lunch  table,  brims  purse  momentarily.  refusing  to  believe  her  altered  state  was  quite  that  obvious.    “  it’s  just  been  a  hell  of  a  week,  b.  ”    an  understatement,  truly.

per  usual,  veronica  is  crystallized  from  head  to  toe;  elegant  furs  abandoned  on  the  designated  coat  couch.  she  shimmered,  reflecting  in  even  the  dullest,  dimly  -  lit  of  rooms.  heads  turned,  as  if  on  command,  but  this  was  nothing  out  of  the  ordinary.  plastic  cup  in  her  possession,  she  swayed  gently  to  the  music.  the  party  was  in  the  next  town  over;  unaccompanied,  but  that  didn’t  stop  others  from  approaching  her.  blinks,  attention  sought  by  a  warm  body.    “  yes,   ----   but  i  think  i  can  handle  it.  ”    on  edge,  for  good  reason.  trust  isn’t  gained  at  a  house  party.    “  veronica  lodge.  ”

“  trust  you  ?   .  .  .   i  don’t  even  know  you.  ”    audible  scoff  spilled  from  glossed  tiers.  unwilling  to  put  stark  differences  aside,  nor  would  she  consider  placing  any  amount  of  faith  in  him.  adversaries  by  nature,  mere  fact  she  was  not  willing   to  overlook.  genuinely,  was  he  out  of  his  fucking  mind  ?  gaze  unflinched,  sharp  jaw  clenched.  she  was  a  sapphire  in  the  rough,  hardened  exterior  proving  a  more  acrimonous  interior.    “  do  you  want  me  to  be  honest,  jacob  ?  i  wouldn’t  trust  you  if  my  undead  life  depended  on  it.  ”    practically  hissed,  withholding  no  exaggerations.  skeptical  was  an  understatement,  light  in  cinnamon  sapphires  dwindled.
