The day that Kai asked you to marry him was the best day of your life. You had known each other for over 5 years and have been through a lot. But in those five years you've managed to fight for your love.

Today was the day. The day you became a Parker. Kai's passed was no secret to you. He had done horrible things, but all he wanted, was somone who loved him for who he was. And from the moment you first said hello, he knew that you were that person.

"Are you ready?" Caroline asked as she walked in.

"Yes. I think. Um- yes." You stumbled on your words unable to contain the excitement you had.

"Great. You look stunning." She said as a huge grin appeared on her face.

You had on a beautiful white dress that was long sleeved as well as a white flower crown on top of your head. You were perfect.

"Thanks Care." You smiled.

Caroline was one of your best friends. When you told everyone that you and Kai were together, she was the one who truly gave him a chance. She was there through everything, and you were lucky to have her.

"Ok, let's go then." She cheered.

"Is everyone ready? I don't want this to go horribly." You worried

"Everyone is ready. And it is perfect, I promise you." She calmed

"Ok, let's go get married then." You said, your smile bigger than ever.

Once you started walking down the isle you saw him. He was as perfect as ever. In that moment you fell in love with him all over again.

Once Kai saw you all he could think was, you were the definition of stunning. A true princess. And he couldn't wait to slide that ring on your finger.

As soon as your dad let you go you handed your flowers to Caroline {your maid of honor} and quickly reached for Kai's hands. Then, Josette began to speak.

"We are gathered here today to witness these two people, who are not meant to be, get married." She spoke

You and Kai looked at her confused. Was she trying to ruin this? Everyone was confused. As soon as you went to speak she put her finger up to her lips indicating to let her finish.

"Kai and Y/N are not here because they are meant for each other, but because they chose each other. They're love was never meant to be. But they found each other anyway."

"When we were young Kai would dream of the person that would accept him for who he was, and I am deeply ashamed that I wasn't able to be that person. But I am, however, thrilled that Y/N is. Their love is something that I aspire. So, we are here to witness their love grow stronger." Josette cried.

You and Kai were on the verge of tears. It took so long for Jo to understand who Kai really was. And when she did, he forgave her for everything else.

"These two have written some of their own vows. So Kai, would you like to go first?" She asked.

He nodded and turned around to Stefan {his best man} for his vows.

"Y/N Y/L/N, soon to be Parker." He laughed

"All my life I was tortured for something that I couldn't change. I was sent away to a prison world, and even tried to kill myself because I felt so alone. I always read books on romance and love and thought to myself, love isn't real. But, all of that changed when I met you. When I first met you I thought that you would be like everyone else, I thought you would judge me for my past. But, you didn't. You made me realize that I wasn't an abomination. And that I didn't need to change or prove myself to anyone. You loved me for me and that was what I was looking for. And I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with someone who accepts me and loves me for who I am." He cried.

"Jeez." You said wiping your tears away.

"How the hell do I compete with that?" You laughed.

Your family laughed as you turned around and grabbed your vows from Caroline.

"Ok, here I go." You smiled.

"Kai Parker, in all my life I have never met someone as loving and as kind as you. When I met you I had just lost my mother, I felt so completely and utterly broken and felt like I would feel that way forever. I remember walking into Damon's house and seeing you for the first time. Your blue eyes made me feel warmth and safety, something that I didn't think I would ever feel again. Even though I was so lost, I worked up the courage to walk over to you and say hello. Who knew that that hello would lead us to where we are right now? Our whole relationship you've praised me for saving you but truth is, you saved me. And I owe you everything for it. So I promise to love ad cherish you and give you a great time in be- that part can be read later." You laughed

"I promise to be with you through thick and thin and to never neglect you the way your father did. Because no matter what, you are not an abomination." You cried.

After you were done your 5 year old daughter, Olivia walked up and handed Kai and you the rings.

"With this ring I thee wed." Kai spoke as he slipped the ring on your finger.

And you did the same.

"And by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

And as soon as the words left Josettes mouth he grabbed you by the hips, pulled you in, and kissed you with all the love and joy he had in him.

And that was the first day of the rest of your lives together.

You and Kai had gone to kill Joshua that day, the day you lost it all, the day you lost him. It was planned that you would drive to Portland together the night before everything started. And that's what you did.

Kai hated talking about his father especially with you. He didn't want you anywhere near him. But you being you convinced him to let you come and kill that pig. You and Kai had been married for about a year and becoming a Parker meant that you also had they're burdens. Which was fine, you loved him so much that it didn't even matter. He made your life complete.

"Alright, let's go." He said as he walked to the drives side of the car

You got in the passengers seat, buckled up, and prepared for a long ride to Portland.

"Why are you in a bad mood?" You asked

But, three hours into the drive to Portland a black SUV was behind us following us every step of the way.

"He must've know we were coming. Try loosing them." You said

He sped up and lost them. About 20 minutes later they found us again. Only this time they were trying to run us off the road, and they succeeded. The car flipped into a ditch. Before you could process what was happening you passed out. When you woke up Kai was nowhere to be see. You're head throbbed and there was tons of blood. You checked yourself and you seemed to be ok other than the blood dripping from your head and the large gash on you're arm.

"Kai?!" You called out but no one answered.

You stepped out of the car and looked around. You couldn't see him anywhere. You limped further out into the woods and you saw him. Only, it wasn't something you wanted to see. Kai was laying of the ground was a chunk of glass embedded in his chest. His arms were cut up and his head was bleeding. He was loosing blood by the minute. You hurried to him.

"Kai!! Oh no, no no no no. Stay with me baby." You held him in your lap and applied pressure to his wound.

"Kai? Can you hear me baby?" You said tears streaming down your face.

"y/n.." he said struggling to speak.

"Shhh shh hold on for me ok?" You looked for you're phone but couldn't see it anywhere.

"I'll be right back ok? Don't you dare die on me. We've come this far. I can't loose you now." You placed a kiss on his forehead hurried to look for your cell phone.

You crawled into the flipped car and looked for you're phone that you put in the glove compartment. You reached for it and successfully got it out. You rushed back over to Kai and to you're relieve he was still breathing.

"Ok, I'm calling help ok baby?" You whispered

"G-ood b-b-ecuase I th-think im bleeding." He laughed

"Now's not the time Malachi." You said seriously

First, you called 911 then, you called the Salvatores and anyone who could get there in time.

"Helps coming ok?" You said

"Yes, how could I forget? It was the day I realized you would be my future husband." You said still a sobbing mess.

"Y-ou had o-n a b-ueatiful dress. You w-were gorgeous." He smiled tears streaming out of his eyes.

"Don't cry baby." You said as you wiped his tears

"When we get you healed up were gonna go on a bunch of dates. And were gonna have kids, and build a family, and be happy until we grow old and die. Ok?" You sobbed

"S-sounds am-azing." He said

He closed his eyes and finally, he let go. He was gone. Right in front of you're eyes. You screamed and cried and weeped into his body begging him to come back to you.

When damon and stefan got there they were too late. They found you on the ground holding his hand with no expression on you're face. You looked shattered.

"Y/N?" He said

You didn't answer. You were completely stiff. You didn't even acknowledge them.

"I'll get Kai. You get Y/N." Stefan said.

Damon agreed and picked you up. He set you in the car and gave you a blanket and water.

"Do you want some blood? It'll heal you right up." He asked

You didn't answer. So he shut the door and got in the car.

Meanwhile stefan began putting Kai in the trunk. He felt horrible and broken because of what his friend was going through, but mostly, because he knew the reason she was going through it, was because they weren't fast enough.

"I'm so sorry." Stefan said to Kai.

He got in the car and they began driving away.

"I lied" You said

"What?" Damon questioned

"I lied to him". You sobbed

Shortly after you gave Elijah his ring back you moved out of the apartment you two shared. He begged you to keep it, and that he would go, but it held to many memories that you didn't wish to remember.

After you moved you were broken. Completely shattered. But, you had a best friend that helped you. Your friend Josh helped you through everything and after a year and a half you were finally ok.

You were on your way to meet Josh at the restaurant you guys met at every Tuesday when you saw him. Elijah Mikaelon in his green suit walking down the streets of New Orleans. You hurried and walked away but he had already spotted you.

"Y/N?" He called out.

You turned around and were met with his chocolate brown eyes. Only, they didn't hold the joy they usually did instead, they held pity. You hated it.

"Hey! How are you?"

"I'm well, and you?" He asked

"I'm great! How uh how's Hayley?" You asked

You didn't know why you said it but you did. Honestly you didn't care how she was but it was already said and you couldn't go back.

"She's great, were great." He said

"Would you um, care to have lunch with me?" He asked

"I'm actually meeting someone." You said

He looked disappointed and hurt. He was trying to be polite so you gave in.

"Actually, we could meet at Cafe Du Monsue tomorrow if you would like?"

He smiled. That was your favorite cafe to go to when you were together and it brought back memories. He knew it did for you too.

"Sounds wounderful." He said with a smile

"Great, I'll meet you there at 2:00."

You said your goodbyes and headed to meet Josh.

You walked into the restaurant and saw him sitting there.

"You better have a good reason for making me miss my dinner with Aiden." He complained

"Josh, you'll never guess who I just saw."

After catching Josh up and heading back to his place for a while you went home and slept.

It was 1:00pm when you woke up and you rushed to get ready. You did you're hair and got dressed and by the time you got to the Cafe it was 2:00.

When you walked in you saw Elijah sitting at a table in the back. He waved over to you and you sat. You picked up the menu and it was silent for a minute before he decided to speak.

"Are you alright?" He asked

"Of course I am, why wouldn't I be?" You questioned

"Y/N, your hands are shaking." He laughed

You looked down and sure enough your hands were shaking so much the menu was practically falling out of your hands.

"Nervous are we?" He said

"No, I just... had too much coffee this morning."

It was a lie. You were nervous, nervous about how many things could go wrong.

He chuckled

"What?" You asked

"Nothing you just, haven't changed." He smirked while sipping his tea he ordered.

"Whats that supposed to mean?" You asked offendedly

"You're still a terrible liar." He laughed

"I am NOT a terrible liar!" You laughed while kicking his foot under the table.

"Ok flower, enough." He laughed

That name. The name he had given you shortly after you started dating. It made you freeze. This was what you were afraid of. You started to cry. You tried turning away before he could see but it was too late.

"Y/N? What's wrong?" He asked still unaware of what he did.

"Nothing, I just I have to go." You said while making you're way to the door.

Elijah began playing back what just happened in his head when he realized what he had done. Quickly, he pulled out a $100 bill out left it on the table and ran to you.

"Y/N darling wait. I'm sorry!" He yelled trying to catch up to you.

"Stop called me name like that and leave me alone!" You yelled

When he caught up to you he grabbed your wrist and spun you around, pulling you into a kiss. You were shocked at first but, it felt so right to kiss him. When you finally realized what you were doing you pulled away.

"What are you doing?! You yelled

"You have a girlfriend!"

"Y/N I don't have a girlfriend." He smirked

"But, you said you and Hayley-"

"I lied." He confessed

"After loosing you I realized that Hayley wasn't the one I wanted, she never was. It was you. And it will always be you." He started

"After I realized that I thought you had moved on. So I lied." He said

" Y/N, Flower. I love you. In my 1000 years on this earth I have not loved anyone as much as I love you. I'm so sorry for what I've put you through and I hope and wish for you're forgiveness. Because I can't live without you."

You were emotional. You loved Elijah with all of your being and you knew that nothing could keep you apart. You grabbed his face and pulled him in for a deep kiss. Pulling away he reached into his pocket and pulled out you're ring.

"I've had this with me from the moment you gave it back. To remind me that you are the only women who will have my heart and love."

He slipped the ring on your finger and gave you one last kiss.

4 years ago you met him. Kai Parker. Everyone told you that he was dangerous and evil. That he killed his entire family and didn't feel bad about a thing. Of course, you knew it was true. But you didn't treat him any different. Everyone of your friends has killed. So you decided to give him a chance, like you did them. And after a while you fell madly in love with him.

You were happy. You're friends didn't understand why. How could you love someone so cold? But they didn't know him the way you did. The Kai you knew was different. Or so you thought.

2 years ago he left. Without a goodbye, without his stuff, and without you. You thought he loved you. He proposed to you the night before he left. You were so excited to tell everyone. But then time flew and you moved on.

Everyday you would leave to "go get food at the grill" but in reality you snuck off to see your boyfriend of 3 months. Enzo St. John. You kept it from everyone. You just weren't ready for anyone to know. Enzo was there for you after everything with Kai happened. He was amazing. But he wasn't the one you truly saw yourself with. And you hated yourself for those thoughts.

"Hey." You said with a smile as you sat down and the table he chose.

"Hello gorgeous." He said in his sweet and soft accent.

"Order anything yet?" You questioned

"Not yet. Shall we?"

After you had lunch you kissed Enzo goodbye. He offered to drive you but you liked walking. It calmed you.

When you reached the Salvatore house you saw him. The Kai Parker. The man who left you. All you did was stand there with pure shock on your face. After a moment passed he finally decided to speak.

"Y/n." He said softly as he took a step closer.

"I was just coming to see you."

"Why?" You said as all your emotions rushed through the surface.

"Y/n."

"Why the hell would you even show your face after what you did to me?!" You said as you started to feel rage and sadness.

"I-" he started

"I don't want to hear it. Whatever you have to say isn't good enough. I've moved on." You said cutting him off

"Is that why you still wear your ring?" He questioned pointing out the engagement ring you still wear

You looked down. All your anger vanished into one ball of sadness. You tried you're hardessed not to cry but you eventually gave into the sadness.

"Why did you leave me?" You cried

"Baby. I'm so sorry." He apologized

He came closer to you and embraced you. You fought as hard as you could trying to free yourself from his hug but you gave in. You missed him. God you missed him.

"My dad found out about us." He spoke.

"He threatened to kill you. So I left. It hurt me to leave you Y/n but I needed to do it. At least until I found out a way to kill him."

You looked into his eyes and saw the hurt in them. You knew he was telling the truth. It didn't ease the pain though. But it made you love him more.

You put your face in the crook of his neck and spoke.

"I have a boyfriend." You said

He sighed

"I know."

You didn't know what to do. All you could do was be with him. Your fiance. The man you would choose time and time again. No matter what.

Elijah and you had been married for almost two years. After Hayley left Elijah behind to marry Jackson you were there. He was left broken and you put him back together. But, deep down inside Elijah never stopped loving her. And you knew that.

You were in you're bedroom when you heard him come in. He look devastated. Like he didn't want to do what he was about to do. But he knew he had to.

"Whats wrong my love?" You said with concern in your voice.

He stood there looking at you. His y/n, the women he promised he wouldn't hurt the way Hayley hurt him. The one who was always there for him when he needed someone. He knew what he was about to do would crush you. But he needed to be honest.

"Elijah?"

He lifted his head up.

"I'm in love with Hayley."

And just like that his world changed forever. He couldn't go back. Couldn't change what he had said. And couldn't change the way he felt.

"What?" You said as tears filled your eyes.

"I'm sorry y/n. But I'm in love with her."

"How long." You said holding back tears.

"How long did it take you to realized you still loved her?"

He didn't know what to say. Deep down he knew the answer but what frightened him most was giving it to you. He knew that this would push it over the edge. That's why he just sat there. In silence.

"Please. Just tell me Lijah."

"Shortly....after I married you." He hesitated.

You stood there in disbelief. Had it all been a lie? The promises of a future with him, the I love you's, the unconditional love? The man you loved, the man you vowed to be with as long as you both shall live was standing in front of you admitting he loved another this whole time.

"You lied to me." You sobbed

"Flower." He said softly.

The nickname he gave you years ago was a reminder of one of his many lies. And it made your heart break even more.

He stepped closer to you trying to comfort you but you had had enough.

"Don't. Please." You said as you backed away.

"I trusted you. I trusted you and you have broken me." You said as you looked at him with tears in your eyes.

The words broke his heart. He never wanted this. He never wanted to see you like this. Especially if he was the cause.

"I'm so sorry Y/n."

"Then why are you doing this to me?"

He had no words. He didn't have an answer. He wished in that moment that he could take the feelings he had for Hayley away but he couldn't.

"Because you deserve better."

"That's what Damon said." "After he broke my heart and stomped on it the same way you have at this very moment."

It was true. Damon Salvatore had broken your heart the same way. He had left you for another as well. You thought that after him you would never love another. But then you met Elijah. And he too had broken you.

You slipped off your ring. And walked toward Elijah.

"Thank you." You said.

"For showing me how easy it is to get hurt."

You grabbed his hand gently and placed your ring in his palm. In that moment you knew that you loved too easily. You walked away leaving Elijah feeling guilty and most of all hurt.
