“Okay, so I just gotta start avoiding her.”

Jax thought to himself, he began walking from the circus stage towards the café, then all of a sudden.

“Hey, Jax!”

“Oh… uh- hey, Pom.”

Jax was looking anywhere but in her eyes.

“You… good?”

Pomni questioned.

“Yup. Why wouldn’t I be?”

Pomni tilted her head.

“…You’re looking at the ceiling.”

Jax blinked.

“…Am I?”

“You’ve looked everywhere except at me.”

Pomni chuckled and smiled up at him, he couldn’t help but smile back, feeling a faint blush creeping across his face.

“Hello my little Chaotic Cupcakes! Today’s adventure is: A Nice Relaxing Evening in a Bar!”

Caine announced, he clicked his fingers. Everyone was teleported to a bar.

“Oh, not THIS again.”

Jax jokingly said, looking at Zooble. Jax looked to his right, Pomni. On his left, Ribbit.

“$h!t”

He thought to himself.

“I thought I’d make this adventure just a little more interesting!”

Caine announced.

“I’ve added a few challenges for you guys to complete!”

“Great.”

Zooble sighed.

“The first challenge is the drinking challenge, you have to form pairs, the pair who drinks the most wins!”

“Jax, you… wanna be on my team?”

Pomni asked.

“I- uhm…”

He glanced at Ribbit.

“Sorry, Jax, I’m with Kaufmo.”

She said while a smug grin formed across her face.

“Sure… I’ll be in a pair with you.”

Ribbit smiled even wider.

“Traitor.”

Jax thought to himself.

“Okay, Pom, leave the drinking to me, I was kinda a party boy in the real world.”

Jax smirked.

“Oh, please, don’t flatter yourself.”

Pomni rolled her eyes.

Everyone grabbed their drinks.

3. 2. 1. GO!!

Jax immediately started drinking, as confident as ever.

“See? This is easy.”

Pomni raised an eyebrow.

“You say that now.”

A few minutes pass, Jax is still going, but losing his confidence.

“I’m doing great.”

“Jax, you just tried to drink from an empty cup.”

“Who? Me? No I didn’t.”

30 minutes went by, Ribbit is holding back tears and she’s about to burst out laughing.

“You know, Pom…”

“Yeah?”

“Your hat is weird.”

Pomni blinked.

“Gee, thanks.”

No, no, wait. I mean a good weird.”

He squinted at it.

“Actually… It’s kind of adorable.”

He smiled.

“What?”

Pomni stared at him in disbelief.

Ribbit burst out laughing and she began to wipe away tears.

“Okay, Jax, I think that’s enough for you tonight.”

Ribbit said, she could barely breathe, she hadn’t laughed like that in years.

“HEY CAINE, WE WANT TO GO BACK.”

Zooble yelled, Caine just instantly snapped his fingers and brought them back to this circus.

“Oh, what a boring adventure that was.”

Caine disappointedly said.

“Oh, wait.”

He snapped his fingers and Jax was back to normal.

“Wait, so who won?”

Gangle asked.

“Oh, I don’t know, I wasn’t keeping score… uhm, you won!”

Gangle and Zooble were so happy they won.

“Did you mean what you said back there?”

Pomni asked.

“What? Me? Pom, you know I don’t mean that stuff, I’m just playing around.”

“But, you’ve been so nice to me lately, I thought there was something there… between us?”

Pomni looked up at him with sad eyes.

“Pomni, do you think I have feelings for you? Oh, please, you mustn’t know me at all.”

Jax chuckled, and he began to walk away.

“So you’re gonna throw everything we had away?”

Pomni asked.

“We didn’t have anything.”

Jax forced a laugh.

“We’re just friends, that’s all.”

Before Pomni could say anything, Jax had already left.

Ribbit met up with Jax in her room, Jax was confused in what was happening, Ribbit never calls him in there for no reason at all.

“Soooo, Jax, what uhm… you been up to recently?”

Ribbit tried to act casually by smiling, but instead it was one of the freakish smiles.

“Uhm… Ribbit? What’s going on? Why’d you call me in here so unexpectedly?”

“Jax, you’ve been acting, let’s just say, different.”

“Me? Different? Nah, I’m the same as always.”

Jax raised an eyebrow, he had absolutely no idea what she was talking about.

“Let’s face it, you’re in love with Pomni.”

Jax’s jaw dropped, he was in complete and utter shock. He started to laugh, as he thought it was a joke.

“Me? In love with Pomni? The small little jester? Gee, Ribs, you get funnier by the day.”

Jax was wiping away tears at this point. Ribbit looked confused.

“Jax, have you… never been in love before?”

“What, me? Of course I have, I’m a very loveable guy, you know.”

“Jax, you’re totally in love with her, you’re doing nice gestures for her, making her laugh, heck! you even pushed her out of the way so a BOULDER wouldn’t hit her. You’d pay to watch that to happen to anyone else!”

She exclaimed.

“Ribbit, I swear, I’m not in love with her, I don’t ‘fall in love’ it’s… it’s not in my nature, so can we just drop it.”

Jax chuckled a little.

“But, Jax, Kaufmo and I-“

“Not a peep, okay? Just stop it.”

He sternly said, and stormed out of the room.

Later, Ribbit and Kaufmo met up.

“Yep, he’s in denial.”

Ribbit explained.

“Woah, Jax is in love? That’s crazy, definitely not on my 2026 bingo card…”

“So, I guess we just have to let him figure out on his own, then he’ll come to us. I just know it.”

Ribbit said sharply.

She glanced over at Jax, who, once again, was laughing with Pomni.

“There’s no way he can’t see it.”

After leaving Ribbit’s room, Jax entered his own room and sat on his bed, alone with his thoughts.

“There’s no way I like her, she’s just… Pomni.”

“I mean, sure, she’s funny.”

“And kind.”

“And somehow always smells fantastic.”

“And her laugh is…”

Jax thought to himself, he paused.

“Hold on…. Did I just list out all the reasons I LIKE that jester?”

He questioned himself. All of a sudden, someone knocked on his door.

“Oh, I- uh, hey Pom, what’s up?”

Jax muttered.

“Did you wanna grab a bite to eat and sit on the couches again? Pleaseeeee, I had so much fun last time!”

She begged, Jax looked down at her with her big puppy dog eyes.

“How could I say no to a face as gorgeous as that?”

He thought to himself.

“Sure, Pom, only ‘cause it’s you though.”

Jax winked.

“Hahaha, Jax, you’re such a flirt.”

When Jax and Pomni sat down, Jax could feel Ribbit staring at him, AGAIN.

“Damn it, she was right.”

He thought to himself. Pomni gave him a nudge.

“Dude, you good?”

She smiled.

“…Yeah.”

He looked at her smile and sighed to himself, he thought

“Today’s adventure is: A Hardcore Day of Rock Climbing!!!”

Caine screamed. He snapped his fingers and they were teleported to a huge rock climbing wall.

*GYULP*

Pomni gulped. All of a sudden Jax saw a huge rock that was about to fall on top of Pomni, he gasped and pushed her out of the way, just before it hit her.

“DUDE! What was that for!?!”

Pomni exclaimed.

“What? You know me, just fooling around.”

Jax rubbed the back of his head.

“Since when does ‘fooling around’ mean saving me?”

Jax shrugged and walked away. Ribbit was watching them closely. When they got back from the adventure, Pomni fell headfirst onto the floor.

“Pom, you good?”

Jax tapped her shoulder, she raised a thumb.

“Kaufmo!!!”

Ribbit exclaimed.

“Sup’ Ribbit.”

“Do you notice anything… different… happening with Jax?”

Ribbit sat there, staring at the pair, trying to figure out what was happening.

“Ehm… No, seems fine to me, why?”

“Something’s off with him, and I’m going to get to the bottom of it!”

After another adventure, the gang is coming back to the circus through a portal. Pomni almost trips but, thankfully, Jax caught her.

“Gee, Pom, you gotta start taking care of yourself more!”

They both chuckled together.

“Kaufmo, you seriously can’t see ANYTHING different with Jax?”

Ribbit asked, hoping Kaufmo would agree.

“Hmm, I guess he’s acting a tad nicer. Probably because he just wants to be friends with Pomni.”

“Jax doesn’t ‘make friends’ you just become naturally close with him, come on Kaufmo, I thought you knew him!!”

Jax noticed Pomni had dropped her key on the floor. Instead of pocketing it like he normally would, he picked it up and handed it back to her.

“Uh… Thanks, Jax… whats been going on with you recently?”

Pomni questioned.

“Me? Nothing, I’m right as rain.”

Ribbit KNEW something was going on, but she couldn’t put her finger on it.

Jax, then opened a door for Pomni. Everyone stared.

“What? I’m capable of being nice!”

And he followed behind Pomni.

“OH. MY. GOSH!!!”

Ribbit yelled. Kaufmo got a fright, and yelled

“WHAT?!?”

“JAX. IS. IN. LOVE. WITH. POMNI.”

“And how would you know?”

Kaufmo asked.

“You can tell! He lights up when she’s in the room and he keeps being SOO nice to her.”

Ribbit and Kaufmo sat in silence, they stared at Jax and Pomni, sitting on the couches together, laughing so hard tears were forming.

Jax noticed Ribbit and Kaufmo were staring, and raised an eyebrow.

“Welcome back, my juggling jellybeans!”

Caine screamed at the top of his voice.

“Ugh, Caine, don’t call us that.”

Zooble answered in an angry manner. Pomni quickly scurried away towards the rooms, while looking around nervously. Jax followed a bit after. Pomni went into one of the NPC rooms and quietly waited. Soon, Jax reached outside the room and quickly scanned the hallway, then he decided to head into the room.

“Gee, Pom, couldn’t wait to see me?”

Jax said sarcastically while grinning.

“How much longer are we keeping this a secret?”

Pomni asked nervously while fidgeting with her fingers.

“Just a lil’ longer. Besides…”

He ran his fingers through her soft hair, noticing the warmth growing on her cheeks.

“…I kinda like having something that’s just ours.”

Pomni smiled.

“You’re impossible.”

“Yeah?”

He leaned in for a kiss. All of a sudden, a bright light flooded the room. They both turned.

“KINGER!?!”

“Oh my!”

Kinger gasped, he slammed the door behind him and ran down the corridor.

“What are we gonna do? The secret’s out, he’s gonna tell everyone!”

Pomni nervously said while pacing back and forth, biting her nails.

“Relax, Pom, Kinger won’t talk, he’s crazy.”

Jax coolly said.

“Jax, he becomes lucid in the dark, we’re done for!”

“Pom, don’t stress it, we’ll just keep going as we are, if he talks, we’ll announce we’re dating. Okay?”

“Okay, thank you, Jax.”

“You know I got you, Pom pom.”

Jax gave her a peck on the cheek and then left. Moments later, Pomni left too.

Everyone was then sitting on the couches as usual. Jax sat beside Pomni, Kinger sat beside Ragatha, and Gangle sat beside Zooble. Jax locked eyes with Kinger, Kinger started whispering something in Ragatha’s ear. After he had finished speaking she was in disbelief and looked at Pomni and Jax. Pomni and Jax knew they we’re done for. Ragatha told Gangle, then Gangle told Zooble. As this was happening Jax and Pomni held hands.

“Is it true?”

Ragatha asked.

“Yeah, it’s true, might as well tell you now.”

Pomni said, her voice cracking with anxiety.

“You @$$£$ found an exit and didn’t tell us?!?”

Zooble screamed in a fiery rage.

“Zoobie, what are you even talking about?”

Jax chuckled.

“You guys were in the NPC room whispering about an exit. Something like ‘I like having something that’s ours’ and that’s why you didn’t tell anyone else… Wait, that doesn’t add up…”

Kinger proposed, he immediately realised that his theory didn’t make any sense.

“You guys are seriously gonna believe this nutcase?”

“Jax.”

Pomni angrily said. Pomni and Jax looked down and realised they were still holding hands. Zooble’s eyes immediately locked on their hands.

“Wait… why are you guys holding hands…?”

Zooble asked, and then, it clicked with them.

“Wait a second…”

Ragatha thought out loud.

“You guys are dating! You weren’t whispering in the NPC room, you were making out!!!”

Zooble exclaimed.

“OH. MY. GOSH. I CAN DRAW THEM TOGETHER.”

Gangle yelled excitedly.

“Woah, I’m sorry I doubted you guys… I uh… congrats?”

Ragatha admitted apologetically.

“Oh, I must’ve misheard you.”

Kinger said.

“Pom.”

“Yeah?”

“I liked it better when it was our secret.”

“Okay everyone, today’s adventure is: Snowdrift Valley! Spend your time ice skating, snowboarding or skiing at this beautiful icy glacier!!!”

Caine screams in excitement.

“Ugh, Caine. I’m not going skiing.”

Zooble complains. Caine snaps his fingers and teleports them all to this beautiful icy glacier where the sun is only rising. It’s bitter cold but in the horizon you can see a beautiful salmon sky just behind the mountains. Pomni begins to quiver in the cold, and teeth start to chatter.

“I-It’s S-so c-c-cold!!!”

Pomni exclaims. Even though Caine had given them the ability to change clothes, Pomni really hadn’t thought this one through.

“Gee, Pom Pom, nice one, coming to an icy wasteland in a t-shirt and shorts!”

Jax chuckles, he’s wearing a big coat with a big fluffy hood on it. He looks cozy as heck.

“Jax, you’re such an a$$ħ@!£!”

“I’m only kidding, Pom. Here, take my jacket.”

Jax unzips his jacket and hands it to Pomni. Pomni is in absolute shock, Jax? Being kind? This was so out of character for him.

“Wait, what? For me?”

Pomni says, gasping.

“Yeah, don’t sweat it, Pom, it’s just a jacket. Anyway, you wanna go ice skating?”

“How is he acting so casual? He’s acting like we’re dating… I wish... Stop, Pomni, get a hold of yourself! But oh my gosh, his jacket smells divine.”

Pomni thought to herself. His jacket had a strong scent of lavender, so good!

“Oh my god, why did I give her my jacket..? I mean I know I’ve been crushing on her, but gee, is it that obvious?”

Jax thought to himself. Pomni and Jax began to walk towards the ice skating rink. They take off their shoes and start lacing up their ice skates. Jax goes onto the rink with ease. The scraping of their skate blades echoed across the frozen lake.

“Woah, he must know what he’s doing.”

Pomni thought to herself. When Pomni stepped onto the rink she nearly slipped and instantly held onto the bar. Jax began to chuckle and then said

“Pom, you never go ice skating before?”

“No… is it that obvious?!?”

They both chuckled and Jax skated over to her. Jax held Pomni’s hand as they began ice skating, they were having a great time. Then, all of a sudden, Pomni lost her balance. Just before she hit the ice, Jax caught her in his arms. They both just stared into each other’s eyes, admiring each other. Their cold breath mingled in the frosty air.

“Yo, Pom, are you uhm… staring into my eyes..?”

“What! No!! You are!”

Pomni stood up by herself and began to slowly slide away from Jax.

“Need a hand, Pom?”

Jax chuckles, Pomni looks at him with an angry face.

“You know you’re cute when you’re angry.”

Jax grins, with absolute confidence, knowing deep down he is in utter fear waiting for her response.

“You think I’m cute..?”

“Don’t sweat it, Pom, it’s just a tiny crush.”

Jax said loudly and confidently, but then realised he shouldn’t have said that.

“Wait, you have a crush on me..?”

Pomni whispers, absolutely flabbergasted.

“NO! NO! WHY’D I SAY THAT?!?”

Jax thought to himself. He quickly began trying to think of how he can fix it.

“Crush? I literally said blush, or I uh…”

Jax began stumbling over his words. Until Pomni waddled over to him, took him by the chin and said

“Jax, shut up.”

And gave him a kiss. The rising sun reflected across the frozen lake, bathing the ice in warm shades of gold and pink.

“Gee, Pom, didn’t take you as the romantic type.”

Jax said nervously, while rubbing the back of his head.

“Seriously? Me? You’re the one who ‘Shows no feelings’.”

Pomni chuckled.

“Pom, you wanna go out with like the coolest guy in the world?”

It’s around 2am, and Pomni can’t sleep. She tossed and turned but couldn’t catch a wink of sleep.

“Ughhh, why can’t I sleep?”

She grunts. She decides to get up, and she can see Jax’s door is ever so slightly open. Pomni decides to take a peek in, and sees that Jax can’t sleep too. He looks at her and says

“What, you stalking me now?”

“Oh, I uh… No it’s just I can’t sleep. I’ll leave you alone.”

And she scurries away. She finds a quiet rooftop on top of the circus that she didn’t even know existed. She lays down and looks at the stars, the stars are glimmering down on her and she’s able to make constellations out of them. She can see a smiley face, then a square, then a rabbit.

“A rabbit, heh… reminds me of Jax.”

She thought to herself.

“Jax is so funny, and so handsome… wait, WHAT? No I can’t say that about him! He’s… Jax!”

Then she feels a tap on her shoulder and she gets frightened.

“Pom, you good?”

Pomni looks up, oh no, it’s Jax! “Oh yeah… me? everything is fine!”

She says nervously.

“Right, so can I join you? I can’t sleep and there’s nothing to do.”

“Oh, I mean, sure!”

Jax sits down and says

“Do you think we’ll ever leave?” “I think about it every day, but… I’m not sure, why?”

Pomni says curiously.

“I don’t know it’s just, I had it awfully rough out… there, and I don’t know if I ever wanna leave.”

“Really? I mean, was it really that bad out there, surely whatever is out there waiting for you isn’t as bad as being trapped in here, right?”

Jax looks away and sighs.

“Oh wait, I know I shouldn’t assume I know what your life is like out there, I’m sorry.”

Pomni says apologetically. “Y’know, Pom, I haven’t had a friend in here in… a really long time. It was better that way. But now that your here? I can’t shake you. You still show up after I say mean stuff, why?” “Well, I… I guess I just care about you.”

She says anxiously.

“You don’t care about Zooble or Gangle, why choose me over them?”

Jax says, raising an eyebrow.

“I mean, I’m not sure, I guess I just seem… interested in you… I guess. But you’re probably my best friend in this place.”

Pomni says, smiling. Jax and Pomni sit there and admire the stars for a good while, until Jax breaks the silence with,

“You’re so annoying, Pom.” “What!?! Why!?!”

“You make me care. I don’t like caring.”

“What are you saying..?”

“Okay, Pom. I like you, don’t make a big deal about it.“

“Jax… are you.. ASKING ME OUT?”

Pomni says, giggling.

“Oh don’t flatter yourself, I know you’re just gonna tell the others, so you can laugh behind my back.”

Jax says, Pomni smiles and grabs his chin and kisses him. “Pom?”

“Yes, Jax?”

“Please don’t forget me when you wake up.”

“What?”
