The corridors of Galveston Shallow were wide. Half the light came down shafts from the surface, the actual light of the sun strung through a series of transparent shielding to keep the radiation to a minimum. One interesting thing about the Protomolecule transformation is that in the TV show, it looks more sci-fi, with blue and cyan lighting, techno-tentacles, and other effects. In the book, it's closer to body horror and biopunk themes: red and brown colors, crawling hands, transformed flesh on the walls, and "zombies" with black vomit.
