I was making an MCRN shawl.

I just really liked the color scheme picked by the production designers, and let's be real, I ended up really liking Mars. Bobbie and Alex ended up being some of my favorite characters in the books, and Captain Sandrine in the show, despite the fact she had all of ten minutes of screentime. XD I didn't get it quite perfect (the red stripe should really be another shade of brown) but this was what my local yarn store had on hand, so I think it turned out pretty well. An homage rather than a direct replication. People kept telling me they loved the color palette and I was like uh thanks, a production designer on SyFy picked it out like ten years ago.

I was originally planning to do a scarf but when all my plans for that ended up being too complicated or involving weaving in one million ends, I found this pattern for a color block triangular shawl and made some adjustments to fit the number of colors I needed. I love the idea of having a socially acceptable blanket. I'm already picturing how much warmer my winter is going to be, especially when I go to the movies because the theater is always cold, no matter what season, and now I can just curl up with my popcorn and my socially acceptable blanket and be cozy.

So obsessed I'm making another one in a different color palette (more Earth colors ;-) gotta represent all three, it's only fair, even if I started with Mars as my fave). Triangle shawls are great. I also still have a bunch of yarn leftover so I might have another project planned with this color scheme.

OC Sunday...and here are my two OCs from two different franchises who end up together!

Inez Yao is an MCRN nurse from the world of The Expanse. Of Sino-Texan descent from the Mariner Valley, she's brazen, bright, and bats her eyes at everything. "I think I saw her flirt with a door once," says James Holden at one point.

Meanwhile, Druid is the sergeant of Islander Squad from the 41st Elite. He's a focused and direct leader who spent most of the Clone Wars on Kashyyyk. Druid speaks multiple languages, likes onions in all forms, and was formerly a very, very good friend of Mayday.

They're salt and pepper, honey and Sriracha, seemingly opposite but by the end of Far Past the Ring, they've noticed each other and by the time we meet them again (briefly) at the beginning of To Guard Against Titans, they're hitched.
