when you post about a study that only applies to the us could you include 'in the US' in the post please. thanks
if you're talking about the trans wage gap, there's a study out of Canada that shows similar. Admittedly Canada is pretty similar to the US socioeconomically, and those two obviously aren't representative of the whole planet, so I'd be willing to accept that this pattern doesn't hold true for everywhere on earth.
This Survey out of PKU doesn't give any specific numbers sadly for income, but does state "In terms of ability to find employment, levels of acceptance at the workplace, and freedom for gender expression, analysis of this survey determined that, on average, transgender women face the most challenges at all stages of employment", and does show other indicators of worse treatment across across the board (higher dropout rates, high rates of rejection by loved ones, higher rates of self-harm/suicidality etc.)
(There's a more recent survey from 2021 though, though they don't talk about income at all, only about improving conditions for trans people across the board and the need for further improvement still)
This is a generally understudied topic, and I am limited to English, so if anyone knows of similar studies, please tell me. Given what existing data shows, and what "transmisogyny" as a social theory suggests, we don't have a reason to expect that the pattern of trans women getting paid the least out of any gender demographic would be the case at least most of the time.
You can't assert that something "doesn't apply outside of the US", and immediately discount the data, you'd need a specific why trans women are being treated worse in the US (AND Canada and China) that wouldn't apply elsewhere to dismiss it.
damn that's crazy anon good thing trans women and sociology of the transfeminized only exists in the usa

There's this 2019 study for the EU (Intersections - Diving into the FRA LGBTI II Survey Data), which does not feature wage, but does examine differences in employment discrimination.
Survey respondents were asked about their current employment status; trans and non-binary respondents were less likely to be in paid work (39.11% compared to 49.06% of all LGBTI respondents), more likely to be unemployed (8.34% compared to 4.78% of all LGBTI respondents), and more likely to be unable to work due to long-term health problems (5.88% compared to 2.35% of all LGBTI respondents). These differences were exacerbated to certain groups of trans and non-binary people: trans women were much more likely to be unemployed (11.67%) or unable to work due to long-term health problems (7.32%), and less likely to be students (16.19%, compared to 27.36% of trans and non-binary people and 27.92% of all LGBTI respondents).
The survey asked respondents if they felt discriminated against when looking for work and when at work. The share of trans and non-binary respondents that felt discriminated against when looking for a job is 31.79% (compared to 10.17% of all LGBTI respondents). This share is much higher for trans and non-binary people with disabilities (44.73%) and trans women (43.03%). At work, trans and non-binary people were also more likely to experience discrimination (34.42% compared to 20.83% of all LGBTI respondents), with even higher rates for trans people from an ethnic minority (including migrant background) (41.08%), trans and non-binary people with disabilities (44.95%) and trans women (36.35%).
And another one about trans people and poverty from 2021.
The FRA LGBTI Survey II found that almost half (46%) of trans respondents had difficulty making ends meet. 54% of trans women reported difficulties – the highest rate among all trans subgroups.
I feel like showing me art that you think my art will look like "when it gets better" is a very backhanded compliment that also sets expectations I don't plan to meet

Waiting for "Uber drivers are petit bourgeoisie because they own the means of production (car they might not even own)" to be a real take that people have, as opposed to any real analysis of the ownership of like. Uber. The app.
btw the whole "you are actually an independent contractor and not an employee" thing is THE ENTIRE GIG ECONOMY GRIFT. It's the mechanism by which workers are being deprived of rights. It's the most transparent way to dress up exploitation in a thin veneer of privilege imaginable, how the fuck can this website— oh. Right. Of course.
Part of the problem is that discussing this requires people to understand anything deeper than the most surface level.
A lot of people look at an offer like this and go “okay, you get $3 per delivery, so just do more of them and stop complaining!” without factoring in the fact that this is $3 for an hour of labor (because 39 minutes is the driving time ONLY) and nearly 23 miles (which doesn’t even factor in the cost of returning to your start point, going home, etc.)
In a car that gets 25 miles per gallon, in a city where gas costs $4.37 per gallon, this trip is literally going to cost money to complete. There is also no guarantee of a tip & to make things even worse many people will put a tip on the order up front and then delete it after getting the food, so we’re often baited into working for free (or worse, paying to work) and everyone just shrugs.
The most I have ever earned after the cost of gas running Uber Eats was $4 an hour. It usually averaged $0 to $2 during the week.
People also seem to think that Uber Eats drivers are all privileged enough to “just go get a real job” but if you actually DO this for a living you’ll see that all the drivers waiting around you have some barrier to “real” employment like not speaking any English, being disabled, being transgender, etc.
I have a condition that makes it impossible for me to have a job where someone else sets my schedule due to an illness that fucking nobody understands, so this is quite literally the only option I have and I am in very real danger of not surviving to the age of 35 because $2 an hour doesn’t even cover keeping the lights on.

Selections from goofing around.
Pulled from the May '26 Sketchbook Page and colored for pfp use
SIMPLE GUIDE:
Body Horror: Things that cannot happen in real life. EX: The Thing, stomach mouths, eyes on hands, etc
Gore: Fresh injuries, often severe. EX: Severed leg, gutspill, deep gashes, etc
NEITHER: Healed injuries and burns, congenital differences, missing appendages, etc. If I could theoretically go to the store and see that character browsing the isles- It isn't body horror or gore. That's just a person. *AND the amount of people that tag, not just fictional characters, but real human beings as body horror is staggering. Its not solely a fandom issue, ableism and bigotry against anyone that looks sufficiently "different" is prevalent in real life and has devastating consequences.
(Modified) from my comment left on this post.
I have 3 days left to pay a $400 bill and I barely make $30 a day if I’m lucky
Hey, my friend Thorn really needs some help and I’d appreciate it if you could at least reblog this if you can’t donate. I’d like them to get more than that $400 because they been goin through it in a way that’s racked up debt beyond that, and they can’t catch a fucking break ever.
So if you’ve ever wanted to toss money my way for anything I’ve written/done, toss it to them right now rn instead. And if you can’t? Reblog this so someone else can.
many people ask 'how do i know my art is good enough to start a comic'. this is a very common mistake. you do not make a comic to make good art you make comics because its fun and looked yummy
saying this very gently. how will you improve
me when i improve the skill by (checks notes) not doing it so no one sees me doing it badly
