CD Tutorial
Had someone recently request this information so I thought I'd post about it here. This is my method for making custom labels for the CDs I burn.
1 - create your design online using an art program like Krita or Photoshop or whatever else. I use krita, it's free, but this template is a bit jank on it (you can't edit the circular text because of the way layers work). Original tutorial video Link to template I would suggest removing the center black circle when using this method as it's actually a bit larger than the hole on the physical CD.
2 - Create your word template. Steps: 1- select the mailings tab at the top of your word document, then select labels 2- in the labels window, click options. In this new window, you'll click the dropdown for label vendors and select Avery US Letter. You'll then have to scroll under product number until you can find/select 5692 CD Labels (it's a bit past the middle of the list) 3- Hit OK, then New Document. This will create your word template 4- insert your photo exported from step 1. There will be a space in the template before your photo DO NOT DELETE THIS it'll make your photo off-center
3 - Next you'll need to buy physical Avery 5692 label stickers. I usually do this at an office depot because then you can pay them to also print onto your templates for about 80¢ per page (you get two stickers per page). There are also spaces on the template for spine labels but I just have a big case for all my CDs.
4 - Placing the sticker can be a bit tricky. It's a little odd because the Avery template actually cuts off more of the label than it needs to - the very center is a separate sticker, but I still print onto it, then place both stickers lined up on the CD. This will cover up your CD hole, but you can easily punch it out and smooth down the edges with a pen (I used the handle of a paint brush). You can see the line where it cuts off in the pics below.
I didn't care enough to make these perfect & pretty and I don't think mine turned out too bad (examples below, this was before finding out about previously mentioned space deletion....so they're slightly off center)
Hope this finds someone that needs it <3
