I don’t have any big analysis on the chapter, it was extremely enjoyable, I love how fast paced and tense it was and the fighting & strategies are all hella peak. We got a lot of focus on Kage and we finally get to see tamakoma 1 fight—Konami’s trigger changing shape is incredible, the dual bladed sword instead of an axe is awesome—plus some ilgars were released?? It was so hype and I can’t wait for the next chapter. Hyuse needs to show up😭
BUT! While I don’t have any big analysis there’s one scene that’s just way too good
These two panels specifically
The things it says about each of their characters without actually saying anything or putting too big a focus on it is just TOO GOOD!!
For Narasaka, it shows how good a shot he is and how well he can strategize to hit his target. He knows Kage. He perfectly aligned it so that when Kage dodges—because it’s Kage, when his SE goes off it’s his instinct to avoid it rather than shield—it’d hit Kakizaki. That’s impressive on its own, but him shooting Kageura instead of Kakizaki also made the bullet way more of a surprise for zaki so he wouldn’t have time to react and put a shield up. Going through Kage prevents zaki from seeing it quickly. For Kageura, I love the use of his side effect AND how this shows how by instinct he moves and how little attention he can pay to his surroundings—allies, not opponents—sometimes. He felt it going for him so he dodged without noticing Zaki behind him or the bullets trajectory. And then Inukai comes in, shielding Zaki at just the right time. Because Inukai is always aware of his surroundings, it’s nothing special that he calls attention to he’s just there and watching and paying attention to everyone. It’s shown in many of his fights. He’s hella perceptive and I like that coolness of thought & perceptions to the wildness of Kage. They end up working pretty good together, it was a smooth series of movements where Inukai accurately covered Kage’s faults
Inukai was there to support so nothing happened, but Narasaka is seriously scary😭 all the A ranks are—dude WHY did Reiji punch through a wall?? Why was he there. Please I thought he was the normal one.
(In all seriousness that WAS a hella good strategy as they had no way of knowing he was there or preparing for him, him breaking through a literal WALL creates an element of surprise that slows the reaction time of his opponents, it was once again thanks to timely support, this time from Suwa, that inukai and zaki remained unharmed despite the excellent play. I also really like how he targeted those two, who were supporting Kageura by limiting Konami. Because it’s the same as their usual strategy, as startling as it was, of him and kyosuke supporting Konami as she runs wild. Inukai and zaki were limiting Konami’s options, Reiji goes to stop them so she can fight freely against Kageura. Kyosuke’s support later on was hella good as well. They’re a finely oiled team and with Jin so far going on defense/support for them all…? They’re gonna be extremely hard to beat. I wonder if we’ll see Reiji or Torimaru’s specialized triggers, since Konami and Michael are using theirs).
Its so fun to read the fast paced fighting and strategies, because there are amazing strategies at play even if they don’t work, and the only reason they don’t is because all of their opponents are skilled and supporting each other. Everybody’s capabilities are being pushed to the limit here.
Can’t wait to see what happens with the ilgars. Hopefully Hyuse.
!!Not art related but I do think it’s very fitting for Inukai’s training with Rokuro to be set up like this when we’ve seen time and time again that he’s always aware of his surroundings!!
for example; blocking Mikumo’s bullets, putting up a focused shield right where Ema was sniping him (even if it did end up breaking), and blocking the lead bullet from hitting Ninomiya.
It’s also kinda ironic that this is something him and Kageura (who doesn’t like him 💔) have in common except he doesn’t need a side effect for it.

hyuse and chika should stay stapled together in the away mission. they become the most interesting versions of themselves when they're interacting with each other and they leave echoes on each other in a way that doesn't really happen with other characters.
like. so much of chika's depth and nuance was brought to the surface because of hyuse. there was inklings of it. in reiji's conversation with usami post one of the early matches about how chika would volunteer for the dangerous parts and was happy to be used as bait and what-not. and how osamu and yuma wanted to let her get into the habit of valuing herself and that's why they treat her so carefully and preciously...and like the sentiment is there and in the right place but it's almost like they overcorrected. osamu especially can't escape from his bias that chika is someone that he needs to protect and while yuma was the first to recognize that chika should be a combatant so she could fight, he also has his bias that she is a friend. a friend he wants to help and recognises, but ultimately a friend he wants to support.
and chika doesn't need support. like obviously she does, and everyone else has lifted her up to get her to this point, but also it's not what she actually needs.
so it's hyuse who just calls her out and says "you can shoot people." and not even in a cruel way. he's genuinely baffled because he doesn't understand why this has gone on so long and no one has addressed it.
and this sentiment is coming from the fact that this hyuse also has his own bias. and his bias tells her that this is a child soldier. because game recognises game and while yuma is also a child soldier, hyuse feels more structured and directly taught as opposed to yuma who feels like he was given lessons and training, but also heavily encouraged to figure it out on his own and define his own path.
that's why hyuse can speak so concretely about how to break down overwhelming things. that's why he doesn't say ambiguous lines of supportive dialogue, he actually breaks it down and offers insights and actionable, understandable steps.
chika doesn't need steps. from his point of view, chika is already there. chika doesn't need to be pushed or prodded or backed into a corner—she needs to make a decision. and chika panics and retreats. her friends and confidants take over to help soothe her and that's when she's able to finally say things herself instead of people assuming and diagnosing on her behalf. she's able to talk about how deeply she thinks about the way people think about her. about the lengths she goes to in order be amicable and not rock the boat. about how she doesn't say anything because last time she did, her friend got taken and she was so afraid of being blamed for it. more than her grief, it was her fear.
hyuse sees how she has comported herself in order to survive and he sees how that is no longer conducive to her actual goals. because there is a difference between "i want to fight" and "i want to fight".
so that's why he tells her to protect osamu and yuma in his stead. he doesn't tell her to shoot, he tells her now. and that says a lot about him as well.
he gives her a fucking fist bump im still screaming about it.
the way characters see each other being reflective of they themselves is oughhh. seriously one of the most attractive things about world trigger because of the diverse opinions, mindsets, and backgrounds that all feed into who they are, what they do, and why they do it.

Rosaline is genuinely one of my favourite characters in Romeo and Juliet for what she represents.
Once again people have probably talked about this. But I wish to also talk about it so enjoy my massive word vomit ig.
She exists to show that when Romeo loves, he loves hard. He is besotted with her, he loves the idea of loving someone. Very good. Very nice.
Few issues with this, however. Firstly, Rosaline has sworn chastity. Maybe a reason I enjoy her so much is because of the asexuality of it all. But I digress.
I find it interesting how Romeo... just seems to accept it? But also doesn't. Like, he's mourning the relationship. He doesn't understand why this wonderful person wouldn't want to have children, and spread wonderfulness throughout their broken world. But he accepts it. He respects that it's a decision she made, so he won't try and pursue her any further in risk of breaking that. He'll watch from a distance.
Another issue with his feelings. Rosaline is a Capulet. In act one scene 2 it states "my fair nieces Rosaline and Livia" on the guest list, so she's Julie's cousin.
She's invited to the great feast, which is kinda the whole point of Romeo even risking going. So it shows immediately that Romeo doesn't actually care about the feud at all. He still loves a Capulet. While Rosaline isn't exactly the only child to the head of the house, she is still a beloved child of the family. Romeo has always been without bias or hatred towards this family, he thinks the conflict is ridiculous, he doesn't generalise all of them into a mass of hatred. Very nice :)
This is a side tangent, but when I performed in a rendition of this play, Rosaline actually did appear on stage. It was an 80s pop band style thing, and she was a part of a Capulet girl group while also being a soloist in her own right. During the Capulet feast, she sings I wanna dance with somebody. She wasn't actually named as such, but when the guests cheer for her some of them shouted out her name in excitement.
More notably, that was a musical number. A number where Romeo goes to the front of the stage, risking being seen because he wants to get a better look at the masked singer who sounds so very familiar. And in that musical number, guess who else he sees at the front of the stage? A certain young dancer, shining under the lights in white, under the watchful gaze of her parents and suitor.
I love the idea of Rosaline, because she leads Romeo to Juliet. She scatters out the crumbs, even if it's subconscious.
So, once again, I would like to see/do an adaptation exploring an idea. I would like to see it when Rosalind more present. Maybe have her flee the scene during the first battle, protecting her peace. Show her on stage when Romeo tells Benvolio of his love, so the audience can put a face to the name. Wandering across the back of the stage, carrying a bouquet of flowers Romeo left for her. Look over at him sadly as he stands with his back to her, shaking her head softly as she edits.
Have her at the party, rejecting the hands of suitors. Have her dance with Livia and the other Capulet daughters, hair flying, masks tight, keeping each other safe against the crush of bodies. Spilling wine all over the floor and laughing.
Maybe she sees Romeo. Maybe she nudges Juliet, nods to the small group of boisterous masked boys that shouldn't be there at all. Maybe she put some of the flowers from her bouquets in Juliet's hair, so Romeo can see that she knows. So he can see that she's giving her blessing, thanking him for the attention, but look. This is the true one for you, this is the one that deserves your flowers.
I like hearing about aus where she's close with Juliet, but I do think her isolation is so important to her character. So just have her be present, but distant, like the rest of Juliet's family. Have them be the cousins at the bi-annual family gathering that hang out because they're the same age and all the adults are drinking and being stupid. Peak dynamic right there.
And then, right at the end, have her there at the crypt. Following her aunt and uncle, parents keeping her close to their side. Just to make sure their daughter is still safe from it all. Linking arms with Livia, trying to brush back her hair, distracted and sleepy and confused.
Imagine her eyes landing in these people. People her age. Juliet, her sweet and strange cousin, blood pooling on the stone slab. Romeo, the boy that loved Rosaline purely and honourably enough to let her go, lips damp and skin leached of colour, bottle of poison rolling away and shattering on the ground.
I want it to hit her. I want Rosaline to meet Benvolio's eyes, and have them both realise they've each lost two people in the span of a week. First Tybalt and Mercutio. And now the people that had a chance at fixing it all.
I want them have a silent, understanding of grief. They didn't know each other. Benvolio heard his cousin, his best friend, wax lyrical about this girl for hours, but they've never actually spoken. All he knows is this warped version of her, a moon maiden, a muse.
But she's human. Her hair is messy, eyeliner smudging as she rubs her skin, her eyes bruised from lack of sleep. She's probably been grieving Tybalt. Maybe they were close enough for her to inherit his black leather jacket that hangs heavy over her shoulders (yh it's modern now whoopsie I'll always spread the biker vibes).
I'm going back to the sleep thing that I talked about last time as wll. If Rosaline is here she ain't sleeping either. The teens of this town have three wolves in them; partying through night, staying up late crying, and having deep conversations until dawn. None of them get sleep.
In this moment, these two children lock eyes as their uncles suddenly shake hands over cooling corpses. They listen to them discuss monuments and ending feuds in respect of their children's love. And their eyes say it all.
Are you hearing this?
It was never about love, this feud. Rosaline knre that she was right all along. Love hurts. Romance gets you killed. In this city, at least.
The feud ends because the adults fucked up. And now their heirs can't continue the fight for them. They can't just dump it onto the next generation. They have to fix it themselves, so why not still point it on their children?
The adults are idiots. Fools. And I want Rosaline and Benvolio to clock it all in a single side eye.
Sorry this took a turn I originally just wanted to talk about Rosaline cause yay ace lifestyle happy pride y'all. But now I want to propose my sequel to Romeo and Juliet: Rosaline and Benvolio. Okay thanks for coming to my ted talk let's make this sequel happen where they just talk shit about their relatives and it should be similar to And Juliet costume wise :3
Highkey as I write this au and expand (because this is still linked to the sleep adaptation it is every evolving) I just want to perform Rosaline atp dream role frfr.
No one (the writer) remembered that Arthur once suspected Agravaine himself… sigh. It's such a shame because Arthur was a beautiful sad puppy here and I kept thinking that this whole thing was stupid and couldn't enjoy the angst of Arthur being betrayed by his nearest and dearest yet again.
I wonder about that too, Arthur... Morgana, I can sort of see her logic. Agravaine on the other hand... can't be Uther related since Morgana is also Uther's child. He doesn't seem to have particular stance on magic either. Besides, in s4 Morgana didn't seem to care much about liberating magic anyway. Only about taking down Camelot.
I like how Merlin comforted Arthur. I don't think he was wrong. A part of me wants him to not just complimenting Arthur all the time (on the becoming the greatest king front), on the other hand, governing a kingdom shouldn't be his speciality or responsibility, so I do very much like the version of Merlin who just completely trusts Arthur as the prophesied king and can accomplish all those difficult political work. If Arthur's runs into problem then that's other people's fault xd If only canon Arthur lived up to that.
This shot of Morgana emerging from the pile of the soldiers breaking into the throne room was insanely gorgeous. Queen of hell. Badass.
But kind of... that's as far as my interest in her character go at this point. And that's a bit sad...
I do feel a little bit bad for Agravaine. Just a bit. He had worked hard through the season on many stupid things and no one appreciated him. It'd be a lot better if we know why exactly he was so loyal to Morgana though.
His big reveal as the traitor was a huge step down from Morgana in s3 too. One is the climax at the end of the episode, and one is a random shot in the middle of an invasion...
Even the soldier looked annoyed that he had to hold the horse for him lol Poor thing.

Makes me happy every time Gwaine was being knightly~~~
Leon didn’t have to be captured this time. Yay xd
Gwaine and Percival’s reaction to Arthur’s simpleton state was pretty funny, but also kind of dangerous?? Is that the only reaction you had to your king who was visibly out of it?? "Cool. This will do." ?? They must have noticed that Arthur was a bit weird since they exchanged a significant look. I guess they just thought Gaius gave him something strong... but still.
I hope Gwaine at least went with Arthur and Merlin. The he could stop to hold off the armies at some point. Standing there with Gaius just to get caught is so stupid... They didn't contribute to slowing down the enemy in any way...
Percival just... disappeared after this with no follow up. Welp. Not fighting the enmies, not in the dungeon. Where's the angst of 'the protagonist's friends got taken down one by one to let them escape'? Or was it supposed to make us think he's dead??
In the end Elyan was the only one who actually took down some soldiers who were chasing Arthur. Good on him.
Badass Gwaine! Brutal too. Much more grotesque than killing with swords. And he showed no hesitation. It's nice to see this side of the knights. They do kill people for a living.
Arthur is pretty being sad~ I can live without Merlin saying “It’s Gwen, isn’t it”though.
"I look for her in the room. She's not there. Then I remember why."
At first I thought Arthur meant it as 'because she betrayed me', based on his flat tone and Merlin's reaction. But he looks so sad, and following last episode's conclusion, I think Arthur meant it more as 'I banished her'. Would be nice if that's the case. It's not very clear though.
This scene is so weird. I don’t feel like Gwen would just do that, showing up while Arthur is sleeping and half naked. Pretty creepy if their genders were flipped... And they got back together so freaking quick! I could sort of accept that Arthur would react with no anger, since that's the whole point of last episode. But Gwen was so insistent that she could not see Arthur. I guess the situation helped... since Arthur's life was in serious danger... and they're not in Camelot anymore...
