always conflicted when I see "immigration is beautiful" type messaging cause I get the point and yes I think any immigrant deserves safe passage to and fair treatment and equal opportunity in this country but I will never be able to find it beautiful that people have to leave their homes and cultures for their safety or for economic opportunity or quality of life usually because of the affects of imperialism and long term colonialism. it isolates the act of immigration almost idk

i don’t want people to be going anywhere for “better opportunities” because i don’t think some places should have better conditions than others (and definitely not to an extent where that would be a sufficient factor to outweigh leaving one’s home)
