Don't change the channel :)

I am breaking free from the generational trauma and religious abuse I endured from my emotionally immature parents. The kind of abuse that made me feel worthless and wrong, for years. Made me feel afraid, for years. Made feel as though I had no voice, for years. Made me feel controlled and misunderstood, for years. Made me feel guilty, for years.

I people pleased. I put other people before myself because I was afraid to say no or defend myself. But I'm growing to love myself more. I'm chosing myself over the people who don't deserve my time and energy. I only have so much of it left to give, after I've given so much of myself-- pieces of myself here and there-- for years. I will collect my pieces. I will take them and I will rebuild with the help of those who truly love me... and I will be a stronger person for it.

I will fight because I have a reason. A good reason. And that's because I'm not done yet. I'm not done as a person. I have so much more left to learn. To give. To teach. To love. To experience. To fight for. To become. I have people who want to help me be the best person I can, who support me and understand me and love me. My wife, the most. And isn't that all anyone can ask for in life? Isn't that worth fighting for?
