He nods, glancing away for a moment and softly chuckling.

This…this felt new yet slowly becoming familiar, slowly sinking into his shoulders for a moment as he rubs his gloved hands.

He says, settling into the slightly awkward silence for a moment.

*ANYTHING [all new materials] WITH YOU LATELY? FOLLOWING THE [latest trends] OF RAINBOW CAPITALISM THIS MONTH?

Not awkward at all, this water cooler talk. Not awkward at all. He’s hoping and praying to whatever god may exist that this isn’t awkward oh dear jesus…

<3    " * Coming right up~! "   Blame either his busy hands or his near ditsy confidence... but he didn't feel the awkwardness.  Oh, he could read that they were awkward, but the feeling it caused him wasn't mutual-- it was something warm, instead. That attempt at normalcy, that nervousness-- that was always the little addison he used to know. Somewhere under all that doom and gloom.

And he makes that boisterous laugh of his, grinning back at them mischievously over his shoulder.  " * Do you even have to ask..? I like to think I set trends this year, really! You know, Cyber City was really receptive to showcasing everyday couples rather than models? Hearing customers say  ‘ I know them! ‘ when they see the ads has been so cute, and---  stop me when I start boring you, by the way. ” He chuckles as he turns back to them with the two coffees. When they approach to give it to him, they’ve clearly drawn a heart in the cream. But he continues with that previous reminder in mind.

@sanguinehaven​ Sent: ❝  Guess someone was paying Promone a visit, almost awkwardly sitting in the kitchen chair, part of a set that was surely missing one for some reason....

Skuld rubs his eyes from underneath those glasses lens, staring at Promone with a mix of guilt and something else.

 *GOT BORED IN THE ATTIC, WHY, DO I NEED A [reason] TO VISIT.. ❞    

⇨  “ * Oh-- non-non--  not at all !    I mean, well, I would love to be your reason to leave that stuffy attic-- ”  His eyes flick open as he catches himself-- was that blunt? Not exactly the warmth he meant to express. He tries again.  “ I-I mean to say-- I’m... I’m just really happy to see you, mon ami. Whenever you want to come by-- come by! My door is always open to you, darling. ”   Finally he remembers to catch the customer service smile he was still wearing from his work day, a much more earnest little one curling on his lips.

Cerise is giggling to themselves, rubbing their face a little before taking a sip of their tea.  ❞ 

Coral nearly drops her phone again, but scoops up with her free hand to save it. She can’t deny it anymore. Two people have told her and shown her the exact same thing.

This is what he gets for messing around with mysterious people on the phone! That’s what she should be thinking, but instead it’s a whirlwind of I’m glad he’s okay, holy shit how did this happen, why is he living on the street, and his voice oh god even after everything I loved his voice what happened-

*I, u-ummm…see. Thank you, very much, Promone.

There’s a thin layer of moisture over her eyes, but not enough that they’ll turn into tears.

*What did happen to his voice, if you don’t mind me asking? Cause…I always thought it was so cute. Even after…everything…

</3    They were very similar really, though perhaps it was just common in the business. Neither one wanted the other to know how much it broke their heart.

“ * Of course... ”  A customer service phrase said with a clear hesitance, much too much sincere emotion and a weight on his chest that dragged the words. 

And when they ask him to describe the voice, a hand goes to his mouth as he turns to wander his gaze, in search of words.  “ * My god. Where do I even... begin, honestly... ”    He chuckles, a nervous habit, an attempt to distance his mind from dwelling on it as he has to talk about it. How does one describe it?

“ * First--  it’s like the sound of him is... I don’t know-- distant? Like he’s coming out of an old microphone, almost? And then these terribly abrupt pitch changes, strange noises..?  He has a very severe stutter now, and even seems to lag at times-- I-it’s not just his voice, it’s almost like.... something’s wrong in his... mind. ”   Now, he knows that’s not something said lightly, and to make it clear he isn’t simply being his old, catty self he’s quick to clarify.  “ * What I mean is-- Its as though he can’t stop... interjecting lines he knows from old commercials? Literally-- like-- he can’t stop..? I-I don’t know why! When I ask him, he can’t explain it to me... ”  He presses a hand into his tufted chest, clearly some sort of shakiness, grief rising in his tone trying increasingly hard to keep a matter-of-fact air.  He flips a limp hand and scoffs.

Coral Addison is usually never one to say “umm” or “uhh”, so whatever she has to say must be serious. Quickly, she turns on her phone and pulls up the photo Cerise took of Spaul/Spam. His puppetfied body sitting there with a too-wide smile. 

*Is this…really Spamton? Y’know, turned into…that? I just want to make sure I’m not being pranked…

It’s obvious she’s in denial. ❞

<3      “ * O.M.G..!  Coral, darling~! Is that you? Comment ça va?  It feels like forever since we talked~! ”   He hums in that bubbly sort of way, though he knows full well from the first sentence they’re here because something is the matter.   “ * Anything, mon cheri. ”   He answers, now with some concern despite how he kept his addison grin, leaning in for their query, but... the grin becomes a frown.

He crosses his arms across his fluffy chest.  “ Ah.  So you.... just heard, then? ”  He sucks in through his teeth as he winces and abruptly shakes a hand.  “ * Trust me! I doubted it at first too-- I mean, when I ran into them-- I thought they were some sort of... robot salesman the queen replaced him with... ” He awkwardly chuckles, shrugging a delicate hand, but he opens his eyes and shows his earnest, pink stare.  “ * But believe me, honey.... that’s really him. That’s Spamton. And I... I don’t know WHAT did it to him-- some sort of AWFUL magic, I guess-- and the damage it did to his voice...?  I-I’ve never seen anything like it in all my life... ”

⇨   Hopefully the poor lightner is quite used to the atmosphere of Cyber City, because the aesthetic was especially turned up to 11 during events like this. Somewhere amongst the steady flow of the pride event’s rainbow LEDs, flashing ads, and constant runway music was the store’s owner. It helps he’s so much taller than the many plug people around. The natural neon sheen of his peach-pink color made him stand out just enough to be easily spotted amongst the scenery, and that sighting is matched, on his way away from some recent customers.

*Goodness,,you better not take that deal, I much rather you stay as you are, I don’t even think you’d be able to really fight? Could you imagine the chipped nails you’d get from that? Even if there is a period where you have control….I don’t think that’s quite worth it.

*Heavens, why would Queen even need more of an army….doesn’t she have the Swatchlings, the tasque manager, and the werewires?

*Let’s hope the majority of the other addisons aren’t desperate enough to go for it…

* Oh-honhonhon! Oh my god, could you just imagine ME on a battlefield..? Sparking and snarling? I mean, I know I’ve been accused of having claws, but this is ridiculous... And I’ll always hope you stay as your sweet little self as well, of course~

*Oh my god dad you sound like you live on a whole different plane of existence sometimes.

*I don’t know, Queen sounds unhinged most of the time, isn’t the point of being wired like, supposed to take your autonomy away? So you’re just?? 100% focused on fighting???

*What’s the point of getting money if you can’t even spend it??? Or like, what if she works you to the bone and you can’t even have any time to spend????

* Oh- don’t get me wrong, she totally is... I mean-- I’m not allowed to say rude things anymore sooo.... let’s say she’s eccentric? But I asked him that-- my ex-- and he said  ‘ Only if the wires give me an order ’  otherwise he’s fine... We went on that Valentines date, and besides being more assertive than I remember... he was in control. For.... the moment.

*Oh my god, aren’t you horrified about the implications???

*Which ex is joining Her Majesty’s army again? Is it the dating ad with the bad algorithm? Or the mmo ad? I’d like to know so I can avoid them-

* Um... I mean... maybe it’s a little frightening, darling... but at least you have to sign up for it, right..? Everything will be alright, hun. Queen she is-- just sort of... like this....

* But~~   ... fighting in her majesty’s army as a ravenous beast isn’t exactly my dream job?

<3  “ * Let me guess, you’ve worked retail, right? ”  He giggles. He can tell, that or they know someone who has. That is a very learned experience sort of thing.
