A demon that's here to help~

She jumps from the surprise of the shout,”AH! Who are you?!” She says equally as loud.

Gall chuckles and walks over and quickly hugs her “Very funny Belle, but seriously when did you wake up? You had us worried sick, I need to call Lavron or something and get him-”

Gall stops and stares at her in shock as he chuckles nervously. No. No no this couldn’t be happening, please god he’s been keeping it together for so long don’t you dare try to pull something like this now. “H-Heh Belle come on it’s me, it’s your brother. This joke isn’t funny anymore. Please say your remember me.” He says his hands beginning to shake

Her eyebrows furrowed,”I’m sorry….I don’t….The Doctor said I got hit by a truck? I mean, I’m still here, so this has to be the best outcome. I just don’t know who I am….or you….I’m sorry.”

“O-oh” He says feeling his heart break as it takes all his willpower not to break down. Instead he lets go of her and holds out his hand to shake with her, she could see despite the friendly grin he was putting on, there were tears streaming down his cheeks and his hand was shaking “S-Sorry I guess I should introduce myself, my name’s Gallius Hinikuni, I’m a good friend of yours and Lavron’s, I also work at your bookstore and have been managing it while you’ve been gone.” 

“I have a bookstore?!” She sounded pleased. She took his hand and shook it,”I guess I’m Belle!” She sounded the same, but almost lighter. Like she was happier.

The fact she sounded happier lifted his spirits a bit. Maybe she couldn’t remember but all things considered maybe it’s good she doesn’t remember everything. “Y-Yeah want me to tell you about? I’ve been dying to complain about some of the annoying customers I’ve been having to deal with.” He says as he sits down next to the bed quickly wiping away a few tears as he starts to cheer up a bit

Eddie nods his head,”MmMm…” He looks at his hands for a long moment,”It’s my fault….It’s all my fault she’s like this…..” His hoarse voice manages to choke out, heavy tears start roll out from his hair shrouded face.

“It wasn’t your fault Eddie…” Gall says as he makes him look him in the eye “And Belle wouldn’t want you blaming yourself and shutting down like this. I’m not saying you need to just pretend everything’s just fine but I am saying that you need to keep going cause when she wakes up, and no matter what anyone says or what you think, I swear that she will wake up. She’d be horrified to find you rotting away here next to her bed. So come on, let’s get up and keep moving, and when she wakes up let’s give her the biggest smiles we can manage.”

Bullshit. That was bullshit. Gall growls and grabs him by the shoulders and glares angrily into his eyes “She’s right there! She’s right there healing, using all her strength to stay with us, after everything that’s happened with you, with me, with Lavron do you think she’d just give up?! She made you a promise and if I know Belle even a percent as much as you do, I know she never breaks promise to anyone of her friends or family, and you need to stop acting like you’re alone in all this. She may be your only blood relative left but that doesn’t mean you don’t have a family! Dumplin, The Fiaclans, Kurbi, Lavron, Jolly, Me. We’re not going anywhere none of us would let you be alone. Not just because Belle is our friend, but because like it or not we’re all one big messed up monster family!” He says before pulling him into a hug “Now come on little bro stop crying, Belle would hate to see her brother so upset...”  Even if he was never going to be okay again, like hell Gall was going to let this kid think he was going to end up alone...

Gall sighs and leans back in his chair looking defeated for a moment before glancing over at Belle and grips the armrests tightly. He could almost hear her asking him to keep trying to reach him, he was in there somewhere and unfortunately Gall was the only around who could pull him out of this state at the moment.  He leans forward a bit and thinks of what to say before speaking “You know if it wasn’t for Belle, I’d probably be dead or worse.” He says calmly as he stares at her with a blank look on his face. 

Eddie’s face tilted away from his sister for a moment, and for a moment, curious life seemed to creep into his eyes before flickering back out.

It was there for a moment and that was all Gall needed to know to keep going. “Back in October when the mutants were roaming around, I was out doing something I shouldn’t and one of those things pretended to be a person and bit me on the arm. I ran and fleed bleeding heavily before hiding in an alley. I don’t remember much of what happened next but someone who I hadn’t seen for years appeared and took me, my grandmother. She claimed she wanted to help but she only wanted to use me. She took me to her home and locked me up in her basement and experimented on me. I don’t know how long I was down there but it felt like an eternity.” He says calmly refusing to take his eye off Belle, he was trying to help her but right now the thought of her spurring him on to keep talking was the only thing keeping his mouth moving.

Gall pets Jolly gently and keeps going with his story  “She wanted to turn me into a monster, a demon that she could control like a puppet but to do that she had to alter me. She put me in the middle of a symbol and spent who knows how long carving that same symbol into me…” He says lifting up the back of his shirt revealing the fading scar of a magic circle covering most of his back only slightly disrupted by where his wings were sitting curled up against his back. He puts down his shirt and sits down and stares up at the ceiling “Whatever was she doing was beginning to work, I could feel myself slipping away, being swallowed up by this big ball of fury that she wanted to unleash onto the world….by the time Belle and others arrived it was almost too late. What was left of me was hanging on by a thread. I watched myself as if I was watching from a far tv screen. I attacked them and fought them, Macey even chopped off my hand…she stitched it back of course don’t even see a scar.” Gall says examining his own hand as if he had never seen it before as he briefly glances over at Eddie 

Eddie was still facing Gall, and that was the only indicator that he might be in the moment.

“Luckily nothing shocks the system quite like losing a limb so I briefly got control of myself and begged them for help…They fought me off as best as they could before eventually Belle cast a spell and was able to save me. Unfortunately she couldn’t completely reverse the process so I became the handsome fellow you see before you but she saved me….then I shoved my hand through my grandmother’s chest and killed her.” Gall says as he clenches his fist tightly the whole moment playing back in his head over and over again as his hand starts to shake before he grabs it to steady it. “….I wish I could say that was the end of my troubles but unfortunately it only gets worse from there.” He says with a sigh as he wipes some tears out of the corner of his eyes

Eddie’s hands gripped on the legs of his pants.

“A few weeks later Lavron invited me out to a haunted house. After what had happened I just sort of shut myself up in my girlfriend’s apartment. She was a...special kind of girl that Macey. Incredibly beautiful, incredibly fiesty....undoubtedly fucked up in the head.” He says with a depressed sigh “She had her vices, she was a drug addict, a gang member, incredibly violent but...to me she was sweet, caring, funny and the most amazing girl I had ever met...” He says with a longing grin on his face before it fell. “Until she snapped. When in that house with Lavron we got displaced in time and ended up missing for two weeks. You probably remember how worried Belle was for both of us then, but Macey...she snapped. She took so many different drugs to keep herself settled she was twitching like mad when she found me. She was completely out of it, nothing I could say would calm her. She broke my arm dragging me out of the shop and back to her apartment. She threw me around and screamed at me before finally cornering me in the kitchen. When I tried to fight back...she said I was nothing, she was the powerhouse and I was nothing...” He says shaking softly as tears fall down his cheeks “She then drugged me and knocked me out. She used magic on my mind to try and make me forget. Thankfully Belle got some kind of warning in one of books and came running. She burst in breaking down this magic barrier Macey had set up...” He says not wanting to say what Belle had done as that might just make Eddie worse. “She came in and Macey snapped, she tried to kill Belle and Lavron and take me away from them, finally Belle stabbed her with an icicle and she calmed down and we left. I haven’t seen her since, except for this one really vivid fever dream I had where she randomly teleported into my room, sat down on the edge of my bed and apologized and even gave me something to cool my fev-” He stops and blinks a few times as the pieces finally clicked into place “Sweet fucking christ that was real!”

It was the third time this week he had been called and summoned by either Daisa or Dahl, after every call Gall would hope this would be the last time but a part of him knew it wouldn’t. Gall opened the door to Belle’s room and his grip on the door tightened as he took in the few of Belle’s frail form lying in bed and quickly looked away at the reason for his late night visit. “Ed…you can’t keep sneaking out of the house like this. You’re making everyone worried sick.” Gall says walking over towards the quiet human child as he pulls up a chair and sits down next to him with a concerned expression on his face

Gall sighs and pats Jolly on the head as he keeps staring at Eddie trying hard not to look at Belle, he couldn’t look at her like this. It took all his willpower not to sob and breakdown everytime he saw her like this. Truthfully he had avoided coming here until Eddie started sneaking out. Usually Gall sat with him until either Dahl got off work or until Eddie passed out and he’d take him to the shop and have someone pick him up in the morning. He usually tried to chat with Eddie during all of this, to get even a word out of the kid’s mouth to show that he was still in that head of his. “So some annoying customers came into the shop today. They kept complaining about my cookies and saying Belle made them much better, I agreed but still told them to shove it. Guess I’m not really made for customer service.” He says with a small chuckle hoping maybe something from the story would make him react

Gall sighs and tries to move some hair out of his eyes “Take it from a guy who’s just recently got hair, keep it out of your eyes. It gets real annoying real fast.” He says trying move Eddie’s hair so he could see his face. “Honestly I’m surprised you haven’t even noticed yet. I mean last you saw I was bald blue and handsome. Now I’m still handsome and blue but now I’m a red head.”

He managed a disinterested grunt. His long hair miserably falling back into his face.

“Geez you really need a haircut. What do you think Jolly, does Eddie need a haircut?” He says to the hellhound mostly trying to see if he continued to talk will eventually make Eddie talk and also cause Jolly is more likely to respond at the moment
