"I caught something in the air, it reminded me of your house. The dog hair-covered blanket that you kept in your basement. We wrapped ourselves on office chairs after wintry school days, playing monkey island and listening to guybrush talk over the hum of the dehumidifier. We'd eat granola bars or oatmeal and joke about likening my digestive system to a bovine's. We'd laugh and smile and sit quietly, pleasantly, like we had done the days before. But like other days, we'd get the call, right around sunset. My mom saying it was time to go home. I'd grab my backpack and button up my coat, reluctantly standing around for any few extra moments. I'd smile again, say a simple 'bye' and walk out the door into the biting briskness of twilight."
"Your whole life you're looking for a best friend, someone who matches your personality so perfectly that you don't know how you ever lived without them, until you do and you feel unwhole but you survive and find that the only person quite like you is yourself and you are your best friend but you aren't because you hate these things about yourself like how you always eat that extra cookie or stay up later than you should but you know you love these things even though they make your life worse. And then you meet someone else you think could be the one who fits in the nooks of your heart and the crannies of your mind that you didn't know existed. But, just like yourself, you can't spend enough time with them, until you do and you learn to hate them too and you push this person out of your life or even worse, they push you and all these places in your heart start hurting as your brain can't get of the tracks it's gotten so comfortable with. And then it's just you again. Good-old, reliable you. At least you don't get on your fuckin' nerves. Right? Right?" -something I found in an old notebook
and just like that, her name pops into my head but she's gone. there's no sign of her, as if she really was ethereal as her name suggests
We just move stuff around until we die. My mom's particularly good at it. She makes these things she likes to call "stacks" where she places t shirt after jean after textbook after jacket until there is an impressively tall stack making its home in my living space. I have several of these stacks in my room at this moment; one on my dresser, one on my desk, and one on an old computer I had lying on the ground. Ya see, the problem with the stack is that it gives the illusion of tidiness but is actually one of the most impractical structures of things one can make. Oh, you want that pair of jeans near the bottom of the Leaning Tower of Pissed-off? Try to play that bad game of jenga without the balled pair of socks falling down and rolling somewhere unreachable and forgettable.

I wake up from a long nap and walk to the bathroom. I sit down and on the wall in front of me I see an orange spot on the off-white wall. After a few blinks, my eyes focus and I see that it's a lady bug. I quickly pull a length of toilet paper and fold it a couple times. But I pause, thinking of what I am doing. Who am I to kill this bug? Do I have that control over its life? If so, should I exercise it? I ponder and speculate, and then the lady bug falls off the wall. I pick it up with a sheet of T.P. and throw it in the toilet. I wash my hands and get back into bed.
Listening to some French jazz at this wedding reception and the face of a girl pops into my head. Not just “a” girl, but the girl that I saw time and time again in the library last semester. I couldn’t help but smile, which I find myself doing less and less these past few years. I don’t know what came over me, but I know she was smiling back. Y’know, I hardly went to the library until I saw her for the first time.
"Phase III: Dump Nixon" Seems about right.
This kinda sucks. I've been wanting to write more so I carry my new, empty notebook with me everywhere. I always find myself listening to music when I'm not with friends and I feel like it gets in the way of my thoughts, and in lieu, writing. I desperately go on walks to try to un-clear my head but I inevitably get bored and listen to music. And when I realize I'm not doing myself any good, I take off my headphones and unknowingly hum a tune in my head until I realize I'm not actually thinking about anything. Maybe thought comes from experience and I haven't written anything because I hardly do anything. Maybe I don't want to write anything in my notebook for the same reason I hated arts and crafts as a child: the second I alter the page, construction paper, or popsicle stick, it becomes imperfect, non-refundable, and worthless. I hoped walking 3 miles out of town, into the beautiful countryside would provide inspiration in a supernatural way that couldn't be matched by writing in my disorganized, ordinary room. But I didn't think about what inspiration really was. Either with or without it, I still have to be the person that writes.
Reminding myself: I must make actions on my thoughts or intentions for others to understand. Many of my actions may go unnoticed or misread, so more actions may and will be necessary. Love others, and treat everyone with respect. Do not hold myself higher, as we are all just human.

I hardly give myself time to think about stuff. Not just thoughts in passing, but more of reflection or ideas. When I started listening to podcasts as I fell asleep in my early teens, I had no idea that my listening habits would progress to the point where audio (music, podcasts) replaces my thoughts. Even as I right this, I'm listening to HypeMachine's currently popular songs. It doesn't feel right, or it feels "less productive" somehow. I don't feel like anything is lost by listening to music while doing other tasks, but that very well may be because I haven't listened to the void of audio in so many years. I want to think more. I want thoughts to race through my mind and feel creative again. I have a knack for thinking in the way of solving puzzles or problems, so I feel like there could be so much potential. But what I hardly think about is thinking of stuff I don't want to. Being overly skeptical or playing out senseless scenarios over and over does not sound fun. I want to be able to write about my life, experiences, fiction, poetry, journalism, or whatever. I want to write and write until I'm better than I was the week before. I wanna be funny and know how to write a joke that others can enjoy. I wanna read books that will expand my mind. I've got a lot of work to do. But I gotta start somewhere.
here comes some storm
You always see people screaming on social media sites about how frightening the storm is. I personally enjoy thunder storms. I find them thrilling and refreshing. I feel excited as opposed to afraid because I know the storm won't last forever and there's a chance to see some damage being done by a wonderful act of nature (everybody likes stuff exploding and all that jazz, right?). But when a storm like a hurricane comes by and shuts off my power for a week, it's totes inconvenient. I still get to pretend to enjoy the short refrain from electronics and try to embrace reading books, but candle light isn't as romantic when it's not your choice.
After the disappointment of missing any nearby lightning, The rain eases up and the sun feels so bright and hopeful compared to the abysmal darkness that accompanies the rain. Yea, everything's wet and almost no activity is better after rain, but the extra glisten from the glaze of fresh rain water gives the world a glimpse of hope.

Video
*** sometimes I write to get thoughts out of my head. I write these notes and for no other reason. this one I titled "video" because I was frustrated with a project I was assigned. ***
The thing I hate about creativity is that... I have this feeling toward creativity. It feels very foreign to me. I can't tell if I appreciate or resent the fact that it is very unlike other concepts like logic or _____. Let's say, you have some Calc homework that needs to be done by this Friday. If you are prepared, follow the right steps and you spend enough time with it, you'll finish your problems, hopefully they're all right and you didn't make many mistakes. This is a good approach to doing problem sets for math or memorizing equations or learning state capitals. On the other hand, I've found this is a terrible way to be creative. I've always had the sort of mindset where if I think about something enough, I can figure it out. When it came time for me to make something creative, I couldn't find any steps on how to paint a masterpiece or write a powerful story. Then I looked at what I knew were great creative pieces. I thought that the successful books, paintings, and movies were the ones that knew how to do it right. I thought if I tried doing different stuff but in the same ways as things I thought were creative, my stuff would be creative too. I still wasn't understanding what creativity was supposed to be. The thing was, any time I had an idea or thought, I felt like it wasn't good enough. This is a very dangerous way to think.
Let me tell you a story. Back in 2009, my dad got a camcorder. I played with it, recorded a few dumb videos with my friends, put them on YouTube. People started watching them and something very bad happened. I started caring what people thought. I didn't want to put out videos on YouTube and people think I make garbage. Every video idea I or a friend had wasn't ever good enough so the video making ended. Three years later and I wish I hadn't stopped.
my problem with blogging.
There isn't much I have to say that's worth writing about. Well, not much I'm willing to tell the internet. My thoughts and ideas are precious to me. I don't like to share my opinions. I believe opinion is mainly built on perspective ,which every person gains through living their own lives. I don't want people to hold what I say against me. My thoughts are so far from concrete they are practically soft grass. If you haven't already noticed from reading this, my mind jumps from topic to topic before I can completely develop a complete idea and write it down. I'm more likely to share my thoughts with those that are close to me. For example, what would a stranger think of me if I said I didn't like dubstep? Would he judge me from that moment? (Would that even be a bad thing?) He wouldn't know that I have been a fan of dubstep in the past, that I use to crave it, but I've moved on to different artists, but for many reasons or no reasons at all. And what if a reader thought I was a hipster for saying I don't listen to dubstep because it went too mainstream (even though the craze has gone down in the past few months). I think the idea of disliking something solely because it is popular is dumb, as well with liking something just because it's popular. These quick judgments are hard to avoid. People judge, it just happens. I don't like the idea of someone judging me solely on one facet of my mind they found online. But what if people judge me for keeping to myself? Doesn't that kinda defeat my goal? So it comes down to whether or not I share my ideas. People are gonna judge either way. I wouldn't wanna share my ideas because people that blog seem to think their thoughts are important (looks like I'm judging, cool.) I'm also lazy. And I don't have strong opinions on a lot of things. What would be the benefit of posting stuff on the internet? My main concern is helping myself through writing because I can't honestly think anyone could be helped by the stuff I write unless I wrote some tutorial on how to properly cut a jack fruit or something like that. The only other thing I can think of writing for is entertainment. It'd be awesome if I could make people happy or laugh. I really appreciate good humor, but it's not like I know what I'm doing so it'd be a lot of hit and miss. I wouldn't wanna write to make people laugh, but to write stuff that makes people laugh. To be inherently funny is a dream of mine. It'd be cool if I didn't have to try. And to be more creative would be cool. But now I'm getting off topic. I kinda forgot what I was getting at and I don't feel like going back and reading stuff. Tumblr has comments, right? I'll just use those.
