A movement brought to the internet by Refinery 29 to help make a safer space online for everyone, especially for women.  In a survey of 3,000 people 47% of them have expressed that they have experienced some form on harassment online. Out of the people surveyed, between the ages 18-29 that number jumps up to 65%. This numbers are disgusting and unfortunately have only been rising since social media has become some popular over time. Most of the abusers seem to be men and the victims women, which has becoming increasingly a very popular issue in this day and age.  I am personally happy that this issues are being brought to everyone’s attention because as a woman I have experienced forms of harassment online. Men are less worried about the issue, but they should help express and put a stop to the problem. Blackmailing has become and easy thing for “trollers” to take part in because they can at times hide their identity.  Cyber stalking, revenge porn, and sexual harassment has made women all over stray from social media all together. As women, we should not have to “hide”, but should continue to take action and spread our experiences and why these things should stop. The more we talk, the more they will take legal actions out on our abusers.

The #MeToo has struck a movement all over the internet, using social media to bring attention to stop sexual harassment and the amount of victims there are.
