HAPPY 4TH ANNIVERSARY TO MY LEGACY FAMILY!!!!
4 years ago today i created the founder of my legacy!!!
it's kinda funny because i never actually planned on starting a legacy at all lol! i've been playing sims since 2010-2011 and i'd never managed to get past 3 generations. i'd always get bored, make a new save, create new sims, rinse and repeat LOOL
when i made amii, i literally just wanted to play around with the actress career and see what it was like having a famous sim, that was it!!
and somehow............ here we are, 4 years later!!!!!!!
i've said this many times, but i genuinely have no idea what it is about this family that's made me so attached!! somewhere along the way, it stopped feeling like just another save file and it became THE save file
there's just something so special about watching them grow up together over the (irl) years...... seeing kids become teenagers with all their teen drama, then adults with careers and families of their own. watching everyone slowly get wrinkles and gray hairs, become grandparents, meet new babies, make new friends, lose loved ones...... and then opening the family tree and realizing just how much history is there now
i love looking back at how differently i've handled each generation!
the first few gens i was basically just playing. i didnt even know storytelling was a thing back then , so i was completely focused on gameplay, aspirations, careers, collecting things and just seeing what happened next
then around generation 4 or 5, i started taking more screenies and writing little scenes for myself, but gameplay was still the main focus!! the little stories were there to enhance what was already happening in game
then came generation 7,,,,,,, ellie's gen!!!! that was probably the biggest shift i've ever had with this family. i became completely obsessed with storytelling. i planend arcs and relationships and dialogues and timelines and i spent SOOOOO much time writing
and now, i've somehow come full circle LOL
i'm back to mostly gamplay again, letting the game surprise me instead of trying to script every moment
and i really loved every single one of those phases!! i don't look back at any of them wishing i'd done things differently. every phase was exactly what i needed at that moment, and i think that's part of why i've managed to stick with this family for so long. i let the way i play evolve with me instead of forcing myself to enjoy the game one specific way
ANYWAY!!!! looking back at where we started to where we are now makes me a little emotional........ four years is such a long time to spend playing with one family and they've been there through so many periods of my own life too
so........ here's to the founder who accidentaly started the only family i've ever been able to stick with......... and hopefully to many many more generations!!!!
