As dawn turns to day

As skies turn to blue

I look to the horizon

For a future anew

I open the door

I feel the outside

I breathe in the air

I watch as birds fly

The meadows are my peace

The trees are my town

To the forest I wander

I step foot on the ground

But out in the distance

Is a plume of grey

But as the smoke ever billows

It won’t ruin my day

‘Tis a cabin, ‘tis a camp

Onward I shall go

I say its not a problem

Out of fear it is so

Let the journey commence

And as day turns to dawn

As the sky turns the grey

The flames will not fawn

I turn to run home

And as sky turns to black

My once horizon of hope

Now lacks a sun to stare back

In desperation I yell

I am met with no answer

Only a circus of sorrow

With fire as the dancer

There is no one to hear me

There is no one to see me

I guess that’s a good thing

Means no one burns with me

Even if the flames settle

And I find my way home

The forest is gone

And with it, my soul

When new trees start to grow

Out of ones charred and black

What was taken today

Will never truly come back

I wish for the past

For a life I could live

Free of these pains

Oh, what I wouldn’t give

For the morning sun to shine

through my windowsill

It’s brilliant rays

And the warmth they’d instill

A life free of pain

A life free of sorrow

A life where I dream
