SMOTHERED MEATBALLS
These flavorful meatballs are cooked in a golden mushroom sauce with green peppers, onions, and Italian-style bread crumbs. I came up with the recipe on my own.
INGREDIENTS
2 pounds lean ground beef
⅓ cup finely chopped green bell pepper
⅓ cup finely chopped onion
2 eggs
1 ½ cups Italian-style dry bread crumbs
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed golden mushroom soup
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1 cup sour cream
½ cup milk
2 tablespoons browning sauce
salt to taste
ground black pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
STEP 1
Set oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees C).
STEP 2
Ground beef, green pepper, onion, eggs, seasoned bread crumbs, salt, and pepper should all be combined in a large mixing dish. Completely combine.
STEP 3
Large meatballs with a diameter of about 2 inches are formed from the meat mixture. Place on a broad, shallow baking sheet at a distance of about 1 inch. Bake for 30 minutes in a preheated oven. Start the sauce while the meatballs are in the oven.
STEP 4
Mix the soup, mushrooms, sour cream, milk, browning sauce, and salt and pepper to taste in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Mix thoroughly.
STEP 5
Remove the meatballs from the baking pan after they have done baking, then add them to the soup mixture. Add the meatballs and mix to combine. Once more, bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes, or until the sauce bubbles.
