"I may be in need of some cough syrup..."
The plague doctor gazed up and down over the man, before sighing and gently laying a hand upon one of the other’s shoulders.Â
“I think you may need a bit more than some cough syrup stranger, how about you come into my little doctor’s abode, and I try to ensure you don’t die.” she’d state with a tone of comfort.
Mike was sure it was nothing worse than a common cold he might have caught in the Cove. But now that the doctor told him that more treatment than cough syrup and some tea with honey was needed, he got worried.
He blinked slowly and sighed.
“Yes, of course…” Pause for soft cough. “Certainly…”
She’d usher the other into her little abode of medicine, chuckling slightly as she ushered the other onto a medical table of sorts. “Alright so you think you have a cough, or something akin to a common cold……..hmm, you may need some herbal tea to clear it up, a strong mixture from the looks of it.” she’d state to the other, rubbing the beak of her mask.
Moving quickly, she’d begin to mix the tea, the precision she had when grabbing and mixing various ingredients into a little mortar and pestle was amazing, and soon, she was mixing a dark liquid with the ingredients and stirring it around.
“This mixture may give you the runs for a day or two, no need to worry, just don’t forget to wipe vigorously.” she’d mention offhandedly.
As she was mixing the herbs and other ingredients into her potion, Mike coughed a bit more into his hand. To his horror, he noticed that he expelled some black liquid and quickly wiped his hand onto his coat, hoping that his dear doctor wouldn’t notice.
Clearing his throat, he frowned softly.
“The runs and a cold… Not a good combination, but I guess I’ll survive…”
She may not have seen it.
But she smelled it almost immediately and turned around on her heel, and let out a huff, folding her arms as she stared at the other.
“You’re hiding something from your doctor aren’t you? That’s not a smart move, especially when your doctor is known for eradicating plagues......and most of the time the people that have the plague.” she’d remark, stepping forwards, before taking more quick steps at the other and stopping right in front of him.
She was silent for a good few minutes before letting out a deep, rumbling laugh. “Don’t worry, that’s not something I recognize, so why don’t you just tell me what’s wrong, so I can actually help.” she’d remark to the other.
