Mornin.
Gabe settled down in his morning chair, bleary eyed and disgruntled like every morning. An expression was plastered across his features, like that of an axe murderer— Tired. It was seven A.M. and he had to be awake for whatever reason, something about Toby and running.. Or was it jogging? He half expected to be enclosed into a sheild of cereal boxes as he seated himself; Cinnamon toast crunch, cheerios, whatever was stored up in the cupboard at the time. But to his dismay, he sat at an empty table in an empty kitchen in a near empty house not being fed just yet. Effort. It took effort into heaving himself up from his chair into movement towards the pantry door which held his comfort, the shelves and drawers that kept away his spoon and his bowl. Then the milk. He almost felt sorry for himself at the amount of sheer laziness that had plagued his body so early in the morning, but it was far too early to even begin to care about anything except food. His stomach growled shortly after, reminding him that if he didn’t get up now, it would bother him all day. Promptly, he shoved himself out of his spot and gathered his bowl and spoon, and his choice cereals along with the milk. And all over again, he fell back into the same spot and worked routinely. Bowl, spoon, cereal. Milk… Milk… More milk… Perfect. He leaned back to marvel quietly as his bowl, wasting no time shoveling delicious cereal into his mouth. He was yanked from his current state by bare feet slapping against the tile behind him. “Mornin.” A half sleepy Toby drawled in a hint of an accent as he made his way into view. Gabe didn’t reply, instead, he forced another load of cereal and milk into his mouth and let out a heavy breath through his nose. Toby didn’t get the message, though. He began to yammer on about the dream he had, and “Oh, you were there too, and…” on he went. Gabe’s hand was now gripping the spoon unbearably tight, so tight the the milk had splashed onto the wooden table instead of making it into his mouth. Soon, the thinner man’s voice became a dull hum until he was attempting to keep Gabe engaged on whatever the hell he was going on about. “I dunno if that’s weird, though dude… I dont— is that weird?” His face was scrunched up in a confused manner, like it so often did when he had mixed feelings on something, or if he was about to force himself to do something he really didn’t want to do. Gabe’s eyes averted to Toby, who was now deconstructing his makeshift wall by stealing the Cheerios and placing it next to his almond milk. “What?” Gabe answered without real thought of how to reply, he was more focused on the fact that his cereal is getting soggy and his roommate was destroying his peaceful morning. He should have expected this. Toby’s expression dropped as he poured his cereal and milk. “Dude, were you even listening?” He asked, a bit offended, as if he had expected more from Gabe. “Uh…” Was all the tanner man could come up with, earning an eyeroll from Toby. “Whatever… So anyway…” He began again, and as if on que, Gabe tuned out again, his eyes suddenly glued to the back of a cereal box. This was gonna be a long morning.
