For the first time in a long time, Adeline was glad to be back at camp. She had a lot of memories at the camp, although most of them were when she had a different personality and wanted to be better than her sister, Aspen. Over the years, she realised how petty she had been, and her fake personality was soon removed. She grew to enjoy helping people, which is how she ended up carrying Quentin’s child for him and his husband. It made her feel good.
Hearing the words, Adeline turned around to see Owen, her ex boyfriend in the door. “Hey, of course not,” She said, standing up straight from putting her bag down on the tent floor. Ever since the pregnancy had taken, Adeline had made it a habit to keep her hands close, or near her stomach, especially with her bump forming rapidly. Today was no different, as soon as she stood up, her hands placed in a comfortable position around her stomach. “How’re you? I haven’t seen you in ages!”
Adeline looked as though she hadn’t changed at all. The last ten years were good to her, she seemed practically glowing. Her hand resting on her stomach didn’t escape Owen’s notice. He furrowed his brow for a second but decided not to jump to conclusions about anything and grinned. He stepped into the tent, “It has been ages. It wouldn’t be too forward to ask for a hug, would it?” Owen didn’t keep in touch with many people from camp outside of his siblings. The last time he’d been there was more as a trainer than a camper so many of his friends from his adolescence hadn’t been there. Not that he hadn’t enjoyed being there. He had met Adeline after all, albeit under strange circumstances.
“I’ve been alright. I’ve been working for my mum’s business but I’m trying to find my own place in the world still. I don’t want to be dependent on her for a job and income my whole life, y’know?” He paused and looked her up and down, “You look incredible by the way. How have you been?”
