There's also a later more fine tuned draft of Charles Gaunt's Bathroom Haunt. But I'll slip that in later. It's the one that won second place in a competition. I'd say it's close to complete as I'll get it.
Sweetmeats
Remember when I last posted here? Yeah it's been ages. But I happened to have this one piece of drabble typed up for a quick exercise in my fiction writing class. It's a first draft, but maybe y'all will enjoy it!
On the contrary, I do indeed possess two blogs here on tumblr, but as I cannot send messages from my personal blog, I prefer to write anonymously. Do have confidence in yourself - you have a lot of talent; don't be afraid of judgement. I read a quote once by Neil Gaiman, in which he stated that there might always be writers better than us. He continues to say that, despite this, "No one will ever write a Neil Gaiman book like I do." - Sky
Apologies, had taken a nap and upon waking was busy trying to get skype to work.
Well, one does as they please on this site, and more power to them for doing so.
I'm familiar with the quote, but thank you all the same. Someday we'll see just what a Glenn Rieck book will read like.
Hello sir! Having observed your various interactions with Cara, I decided to have a gander about your blog, and by doing so I stumbled upon this gem of a writing blog. As a fellow writer, I wanted to compliment your writing style. I started reading your short story, "Charles Gaunt's Bathroom Haunt", and though I've not finished it, I'm having a good laugh. I feel as though I'm going to enjoy reading your stuff. - Sky
Curious. I received a new follower for the writing blog, but your signing off as Sky lends itself more to you not having a tumblr.
Regardless, thank you! I haven't posted anything in quite some time, too self conscious, but I really should. I should be writing more in general. Well, I've nothing but time now that classes are done, so we shall see.

Charles Gaunt's Bathroom Haunt
Charles Gaunt died Tuesday the 18th while cleaning his bathroom, having slipped on some spilled water and fatally hit his head on the still dirty toilet. That his cleaning would go unfinished was more worrying to him than his dying, though there was a good chance that he only thought so due to the blood loss and severe blow to the head. Were his priorities better straightened out he would've had time to call an ambulance and may have even survived.
Once again, Glenn's New Orleans isn't the title of any of that. There currently isn't one. On the laptop it's saved as "NEW ORLEANS" (all my writings are titled in all caps) so...yeah.
Glenn's Untitled New Orleans Project, 2
This section isn't finished yet. FARRRRRR from it. Will be the first chapter when it is, but for now I'm posting here for ease of sharing with other people. As it's completed I'll update this or something. Once again, seriously, fuck the format change.
Glenn's Untitled New Orleans Project
So I haven't continued any other stuff I started, wasn't in the mood for them, they'll be revisited eventually. BUT I did start something new, and have every intention of getting farther with this, for many reasons. Enough chatter, here's the opening. Like everything posted here, this is the first draft. Also, I hate how formatting changes from when I copy/paste from OpenOffice.
Stonehorn Prologue
Since it's been so long, here, have a real treat, the opening prologue from Stonehorn, which I had vowed not to share yet but I like so much it won't matter.

Long Live The King pt2
2.
“I heard that nowadays they cover the coffins in cement or somesuch to prevent grave-robbings.” If they heard me they made no indication.
Fiction often presents graveyards as unbearably eerie, home to your typical spirits filled with longing or vengeance; ground that is only walked upon comfortably by the malevolent or strange. Then again fiction also dictates all graveyards must be difficult to get into, guarded most often by some aged caretaker who is ominous enough to match the nature of his post (and who strangely always seems but a year away from taking a more permanent stay there), so that goes to show how often you should trust fiction. Rather, this place fitted well with the term Final Resting Place; peaceful, quiet, the only sounds our shoes squeaking against the dew on the freshly trimmed grass. Had we time to to aimlessly look around I'd expect we still wouldn't have been able to find something creepy about the graveyard. Not a light fog, a wild animal, nor even a weathered headstone.
Perhaps the only detail we expected of a graveyard to show up was how frustrating it was to navigate. We seemed to constantly walk past turns we intended to make. Even when we didn't, the layout of the paths seemed to outright contradict the 'helpful' map that was posted near the entrance. This would have been less an issue had we been able to drive on the paths inside. Of course, lifting a car over a locked fence wasn't exactly a task either of the four of us were up to.

If anyone had seen us all crowded together in that alley, I wonder what they would've thought they stumbled upon. The six of us all dressed up in typical funeral attire; a black suit and tie on every man, a modest black dress on the only woman. Perhaps they'd assume to have stumbled on a criminal meeting; or, if more imaginative, a small cult worship circle. Of course it wasn't anything as fantastic, simply what it appeared to be, a Funeral. One of us stepped forward to talk. He was fairly short compared to everyone else, less than 5'6 at a guess. His face covered in a full brown beard that matched the short brown hair on his head, both looking to be freshly trimmed. His eyes were red both from tears, and trying to wipe them away with too much force; despite the tears though there was a smile on his face, the crinkle at the corner of his eyes showing it to be sincere. While we may have been mourning, in a way his happiness reflected the same we all shared at that moment.
“It's been a while since everyone's been all in one place. Like, what, two years now?”
He was nervous, like anyone who's ever stood in front of any size crowd and gave a speech. His hands fidgeted in his pockets for a moment as if to grab something, presumably he had a speech written out, but he couldn't bring himself to go through the motions of something pre-rehearsed.
“Well, um, yeah. We're all here and...and so's he,” gesturing to the corpse in the dumpster we were all crowded around, that was lying on top of rotten meat, tomatoes, and plastic.
