hopefully if you're reading this the Childhood Souvs site has launched. I keep finding things to edit on the site and living life outside of my computer world as much as possible is a huge priority this summer. I highly recommend! We went all of July without Facebook! I've been slow at my own projects ever since Winnie became a twonager. Childhood Souvenirs has been such a fun way to document our love for fashion and design. It has led me to start so many additional side projects and for now I’m moving at precisely the pace i want. I'm currently working on a shot list for a little ad with our "new" b&w VHS camcorder. I've personally never had to convert VHS to digital so it'll be a good learning experience and a determination on how often we will utilize this new cam. As soon as I figure out how to clone myself, I'll be a much more productive artist and mom! For now, please enjoy this new space I've claimed to share our goings-ons and news.

Here are some crayons I mixed up for her birthday! I had a peanut candy mould and asked my community for broken and unwanted crayons. They definitely delivered! I got 3 bags full that I picked up from kind people who had them sitting around.

I separated out and used only the Crayola brand ones so the consistency would be the same for all the crayons since I planned to mix colors.

Then I soaked them in water inside of a ziplock in the sink to get all the wrappers off. Most came off pretty easy but some of the older crayons had a tougher adhesive.

Basically I broke them up even more to fit in some silicone cupcake cups, and picked my color combos! I put them in the oven at 300 degrees and kept an eye on them so they wouldn't burn. Within a few minutes the cups had melted colors!

To add swirls, use a toothpick and keep adding wax til you fill the moulds!

Took quite a bit of time and my kitchen smelled like melted crayons for a while but Winnie just loves them. I put them in a cute vintage cookie jar and she uses them all the time!

Safe-to-eat finger paints. I believe the ratio was 2/1, water to flour. These were so easy to make and she had a ton of fun. A plus that I didn't have to be anxious about her licking her fingers. But she didn't anyways..i let her paint on a huge poster board with one glossy side so that the “paint” wouldn't seep through.
