Yes, this is all a part of the Simone Simos racist saga, but I would like to say this: If an accusation about a person keeps coming up consistently over the years, I think it is worth investigating. I don’t want this to be true, don’t get me wrong. I love Simone’s voice and have grown up with Epica; but hearing this, researching the subject, and hearing about how she snubbed Cammie Gilbert makes me sick to my stomach. I don’t count the hair touching incident in South America as a part of her racism. It’s treating darker skinned fans differently, snubbing a black woman, and her bullshit statement (”I love Mexican food”) on earlier racism rumors that makes me more inclined to believe that there is some weight to these rumors that makes me more inclined to believe that there is some weight to these rumors against darker skinned people. Perhaps there are unconscious biases that she holds. The point is: I wish people would stop treating her like she is some goddess who can do no wrong. You don’t hace to dislike her, you don’t have to stop supporting Epica. I will enjoy older Epica songs and I will always appreciate her contributions to the symphonic metal scene. Unfortunately my view on her is too skewed to support her career at this point.
I’m forever tired of this rumor spreading. I spoke out about this when this Cammie thing was new.
As someone who is known to be very shy around people I’ve NEVER MET BEFORE, I get how it is to have people falsely label you as something you aren’t. People have labeled me as “cold” or “rude” because I don’t respond or react to people how they’d like me to react to them. And Simone is known to be a very quiet and shy person off the stage. I’ve met her a couple times, and while quiet, she is very sweet when approached politely and without being too loud or overbearing or too forward.
Everyone screamed “racist” when she wouldn’t let anyone grab at her in certain countries, but if a bunch of people you don’t know personally just randomly grabbed at you, would that make you feel comfortable? Everyone accused her of hating Evanescence for saying that Epica and Evanescence’s music were incomparable because Evanescence was more “poppy” or “mainstream”. And later Amy Lee even agreed with what was said. And also, they ended up meeting and becoming friends, despite fans still bickering about it. Now this resurfaces. I’ve seen Simone interact with fans very nicely (when I’ve done VIP), you just have to know how to approach a person who’s shy.
Don’t judge ANYONE based on the opinion of another.

‘10 to 15 years ago, it was a relatively new phenomenon, [in the late 90s], more ladies fronting metal bands. Of course, it’s not an entirely new thing, but there was a different type of music attached to it, a different vibe to it, compared to early 80s with Doro and Lita Ford and more the heavy metal genre. More and more bands came and maybe had a bit of the same sound in the beginning. First it was called gothic metal, a name I didn’t understand…’

But I don't have the memory to be making them right now. Sorry for sporadic posts. I'll make sure this blog becomes active again!
