I'm curious about tartaros in AU. Do the demons take sides? On the one hand, they support their creator. On the other, they were made to destroy zeref, so it stand to reason that they would support Ignia.

Does natsu sometimes instigates fights between his brothers because it's funny and he's chaotic?

If they make their own guild, would it be tartaros still or some other?

How does the rest of fairy tail react to the brothers?

And many more questions that I'm unaware of but certainly asking in another reality/another time.

There is a couple important things you need to know about this au. Natsu although is involved in fairy tail and has its mark is not in the guild hall a lot. In fact many members of fairy tail barely know of his existence, he’s not a threat but he’s definitely an Allie. He will come when fairy tail is most in danger and swears on that word. I will talk about his relationship with everyone after I discuss how ignia, zeref, and Natsu all know each other.

Zeref has met igneel long before his village had been burned down, and igneel was of course a little younger. Some of the lore is a bit messed up or changed for reasons that make it possible for certain characters to interact :) anyways zeref and igneel have known each other since zeref was incredible little. Zeref often running off to meet the giant dragon, it seemed as if zeref was the only one who realized he was there. Of course eventually when zeref got to know igneel better he also got to know igneel child, ignia

Zeref had picked up some magic from igneel which made ignia jealous. I know ignia was not raised by his father because of the war and I think the mother dragons takes care of the offspring but I’d like to imagine igneel had took ignia places when he could because igneel never took the traditional roll of a lot of dragons.

Zeref and ignia end up becoming sort of frenemies in a way, both silly kids igneel had taken under his wing and adored, but igneel knew Zeref belonged with his human parents and he couldn’t really take him when he and ignia left to go home. Now igneel had not stopped visiting when the two left they would always reappear happy to see each other again and eventually another face was added to the mix which was Natsu!

Natsu when he was first born and opened his eyes quite literally got a dragon shoved in his face, and so did zerefs parents. Now of course zerefs parents were terrified but understanding and seemed the dragneels had quiet an affinity for dragons, well more like igneel maybe it was because their smart son wouldn’t make the mistake of trusting a beast with no morals. In my au they all sort of speak dragonic or a different language.

They all grew up with each other it’s quite sweet actually. It was like it was destined to happen since the family lived on the outskirts and Natsu and zerefs dad had a lot more in common than one would think. They all did, once the village was burned down it was around the real start of the war and when ignia and igneel had gone off to deal with it

Zeref and ignia are around the same age I’d say their twin age sort of. But this destruction broke Zeref and Natsu and Natsu a little more literally. Zeref did everything and anything to fix Natsu and of course he started studying non stop, he studied and traveled but he always came back to the same place ignia and igneel had come back to. Ignia eventually did return without igneel, as igneel was a king after all and ignia wanted to go see his totally not adopted brothers only to find them torn to shreds.

Ignia was devestated and angered you could say ignia and zeref had that in common. They share an anger for grief as no other but ignia wanted to study with Zeref as boring as it was he held power that Zeref didn’t have yet and ignia is a defiant kid he could do anything he wanted. This led to zeref and ignia traveling out to revive their deceased brother.

Ignia and Zeref are quite sweet in a way that they bully each other in a needed way, without the other they would become what we see in canon which is completely crazy and out of touch. I mean zeref and ignia might be crazy but they can never truly become to crazy out of reason, of course eventually they find a way and they revive Natsu using ignias scales and igneels, this makes them both become cursed but they share that curse in a way that keeps them apart, when they are apart the curse is less of taking life away but when together the world is would he destroyed. They are two pieces of a puzzle

Eventually through the years the two are kind of both gods (and Natsu but I’ll get into that) meaning they both bring destruction and carnage. Ignia bring destruction and zeref being the death that comes with it. They realize very quickly they cannot be together and they give each other one last hug before separating.

Ignia goes off and joins his father explaining and there’s a darkness in ignias heart that igneel can’t explain. Both igneel and ignia have human forms because they would have a closer bond and I feel zeref would teach/convince igneel to have one. Anyways sorry I’m rambling but anyways igneel finds zeref tries to tell him how crazy it all is because at this point zeref is his second son and then he sees alive Natsu and freaks out.

Natsu in this au when he is first awakened is pretty blank and such he remembers things from his past and god he wants to feel it but he can’t. Eventually slowly he gets motor controls and the spark to love again especially with igneel now softening at the boy.

Natsu in this au looks a lot more dragonish, meaning he has a tail and wings and one dragon leg of course as he ages these become less and less with zerefs help. Since zerefs curse is extremely less he can still raise Natsu and bring no harm, though he still has voices. Igneel and zeref decide they have to raise Natsu essentially because Natsu is the first book of demons

AND FINALLY to answer your question the tartaros demons were made to obey zeref but they were made to give Natsu friends. Natsu is a lot more powerful and he contains power no one can imagine. But as Natsu two brothers are destruction and death there’s something that Natsu possess that they don’t which is after death and carnage is life and rebirth. Natsus fire is still chaotic and destroys things but his fire can make things come back stronger than they were, this can be controlled it’s not something that’s uncontrollable but currently it is and it’s mostly destruction so the demons were the only thing that Natsu if he did destroy wouldn’t die.

Zeref is not heartless especially not with his second dad around nagging him about the whole thing. First jackel and Mard geer were made first. Funny enough Natsu calls jackel and mard his cousins because of how closely they resemble his family and the same goes with the other demons their “unofficial dragneels”

Though you may ask about larcade and such and that guy comes later! Theres also other dragons that sort of raised the entire tartaros gang which would be atlas. But he doesn’t come until later.

Another thing about Natsu is since he woke up technically early because of power of ignia he falls into comas, long sleep comas that make sure his body continues to reserve energy properly. Of course ignia needs to go back to this silly war and the obvious plan the HEARTFILIA ancestor is planning and does that but ZEREF when he finds Natsu asleep and igneel gone he freaks out.

Zeref in this au finds his creations to be his beloved kids and treats them with genuine dignity as Natsu basically got his spark back thanks to them. Most of the demons respect both Zeref and Natsu in a way that’s beyond maker and minion, they aren’t human and don’t have a lot of self control and Zeref mourns that but he cannot figure out how to change it so they don’t change to madness like him.

Zeref instructs the demons to watch over Natsu because he trusts them their strong and they do.

This is we’re Zeref meets mavis and their love story does its thing but Zeref is a little more involved with the people for he doesn’t cause damage to an increasing degree. This gets some funny scenes of him crawling out of windows to stop anyone from dying, ZEREF is quiet…silly in this au he gets to be a immature 20 year old for once even though he sticks to his calm demeanor growing up with ignia will make you a little ridiculous.

One thing you must know is zeref wants to be with ignia again and loves his adoptive brother and he wants to break the curse for the both of them and Natsu, Zeref does not wish to die because he can live and do so many things (Natsu made him have that impression on life) so Zeref does give Mavis the spell and once she’s cursed and Zeref says sorry and runs away because Zeref over stayed his stay

Now when Natsu wakes up to find ZEREF panicked he does soemthing about it and visits Mavis head on. With zeref of course but also this leads to zeref finding out Mavis is pregnant. Now Mavis does give birth but one doesn’t make it and that’s larcade of course zeref makes him a demon which Mavis isn’t too happy about but Natsu doesn’t seem so bad so how bad could larcade be. And that’s how August and larcade exist in the world but anyways Natsu and Zeref join fairy tail and do have the emblem because they meet everyone and it’s an amazing time.

This technically makes zeref Natsu some of the founders of fairy tail.

Natsu is like older like 16? Maybe a little older and decides “wait…what about the other books” litsen the demons are miserable because they can’t particularly act on there own and what does Natsu do? He goes to zeref and mard geers and somehow rewrites the way zeref has written each demon.

In this au Natsu is smart he’s raised by Zeref and has an infinity for different magic. This leads to Natsu building off of zerefs ideas in a way he couldn’t imagine. So each of the demons sort of get a rework not personality but look wise this makes them endlessly greatful to Natsu. And natsus only request if for them to stay his friends forever and be kind. And got did they they have as much free will as a person their people now and they could choose to leave but don’t they want to visit the world with Natsu. They don’t get the fairy tail emblem but they do get little badges

Something about mars geer is he protects everyone’s books, he is very passionate about it and fixes machines as well, mard is a lot like zeref in a way and jackel is a lot like Natsu but it’s just the way they do things. Mard and jackal are best friends and every one of the demons had their own magic that’s not exactly cursed.

Larcade adores Natsu because they are one and the same a boy brought back to life and unlike canon adores him. Eventually Natsu does go back into a sleeping state and this weakens the other demons but they do not mind because they will immediately know when Natsu is awake again. 400 years is when Natsu should stop this behaviour and everything is fine

Until Mavis dies and gets cursed and then zeref meets ignia again and they all sort of go mad the tartaros demons take care of Mavis and so do August and larcade NOW August and larcade are very much immortal and age like dragons because their father is cursed and one was injected with Natsu scales ANYWAYS this happens Natsu keeps waking up to larcade and august being older and older. Eventually Natsu wakes up enough to realize zeref is making a kingdom and ZEREF is making this kingdom way before in canon its way earlier. Natsu is like “stop trying to finish a war with ignia!” And zerefs like “you’re right.” Of course OF COURSE it’s a lot more fighting than that but zeref still feels he’s unfit and runs off but they also have a kingdom to run and this kingdoms is their dads/brothers so they have to take care of it. And who knows most about kingdoms Natsu dad!!! But Natsu has no clue were that old man is so he tries to find ignia and does and ignia ecstatic and also amazed that all this happens and Natsu remembers him

Lots of brother bonding and this is also were we meet ignias kid and it’s a family reunion, I find it funny ignia claims he hates his dad but Carry’s the tradition of raising his kid. Anyways this kingdom is sort of built on finding zeref but also reconnecting and ignia has actually found a way to somewhat dampen zerefs and ignias curse to were it has no effect and natsus like FUCK YES and this leads to them slowly getting more and more memebers who have interacted with zeref that changed their lives and following his kingdom.

There’s a ton more but eventually they find zeref and zeref is shocked and when he gets back ignia hugs him because he’s gotten rid of his part of the curse making zerefs sort of obsolet, zeref mad but ecstatic he finally gets to be with his three brothers and apparently his extended family and all the people he’s changed. This creates the “fiery serpents” I’m still stuck on the name… but a lot of people call them spriggan now spriggan twelve is no longer twelve it’s more the whole kingdom and subsets of things that protect it but the guild their all apart of is fiery serpents including ignia

such now the only guild master of this guild is zeref however this guild does partake in the grand magic games the same year fairy tail comes back and changes it to igneel. Because igneel is there founder in their eyes, that drawing was the main premise if I was to make a fic which would be about ignia and zeref trying to find igneel and igneel in truth is dormant somewhere I haven’t decided were anyways

You might ask how does anything have to do with fairy tail? Well zerefs main goal and Natsu is to stop the cults that have been made around the three brothers, it’s like anytime ZEREF left notes of a project someone would pick it up and use it for wrong and of course fairy tail is a chaos magnet for zeref stuff and since zeref and both have the emblem

They help anytime they can and they don’t say their names especially ZEREF usually covering his fave call them flame and ash. And they come when danger is near, Natsu did still get Lucy into fairy tail although they don’t have the same close bond. Natsu is always there to help them and zeref fairy tail becomes fond of the two (and ignia on the rare occasion he help a few lesser humans even though he loves his guilt also the people in flame and ignias guilt on the spin off are in fiery serpent! This is important) but anyways they come to help in war but fiery serpent isn’t known and god is the emblem trashed for being a dark guilt even though there registered in the magic council they just ignore all the warning because their more powerful than it.

Also a couple of zerefs demons get human forms because once destroyed they are reworked in natsus writing. They take a lot of growing tho infact the whole spriggan kingdom is sort of well….incredible film of people who needed second chances. That’s why it’s so demonized and fairy tail only really knows of fierys presence in the grand magic games

Natsu is very close to sazuka and another things ignia, larcade, august, zeref, Natsu, sazuka all have cats

Ignia has a linx named ash, ZEREF has a cat named sad/despair/gloom, Natsu of course has happy, larcade has June bug who is like a female frosh but imagine someone who walks larcade everytime he sounds like his father , and August has king who is a abandoned well lion king car from edolas (there all from edolas) but another kingdoms king who fell during who would be the only royal blood

These guys were found earlier but kept alive maybe dormant eggs or not. I think that’s enough rambling THANK YOU FOR ASKING THESE QUESTIONS!! I’ve rambled long enough tho here’s some designs for the whole au

Natsu is actually the peace maker between ZEREF and ignia fighting fun fact

Fairy tail is so confused and believes fiery serpent isn’t out to get them and manipulating them… it’s a very long slow burn and learning to trust and protecting each other from the true evil of uhh acnologia

The whole empire acts like an evil version of fairy tail sorry no an inverted version with natsus spirit there’s so much chaos but they adore each other and never get down. Ignia zeref and Natsu are the light of everyone’s life and even if they fight it’s always fun to ride a big dragon around

Atlas is just there Natsu calls him his uncle ofc it’s Natsu why wouldn’t he but he’s as confused as where igneel went as well

Anyways silly brother hc that would fit into lore if zeref didn’t have a curse and joined fairy tail and wasn’t actually insane

-Zeref definitely constantly makes sure his out fit is correct and tidy like he doesn’t mean to do it but he just feels more in control of himself that way. And when he sees Natsu’s clothes always messed up and messy he constantly fusses about it after he fights and brushes Natsu off without realizing

-Natsu is zerefs biggest weakness if that weakness was he just doesn’t wanna hurt Natsu emotionally or physically at all like Natsu is his baby. Zeref could never actually hurt Natsu badly sure Zeref is fully aware Natsu can handle anything but if he’s fighting and someone put Natsu infront of that attack he would immediately stop it, Natsu is very important to him and Natsu knows that to. which why he used it to get stuff from Zeref

-I know zeref made lullaby as a whole killing thing but it would be really funny if zeref also created things or other instruments that reminded him of people he liked especially Natsu so there’s a flute out there that’s just for Natsu but will never be found cause it won’t be played unless Natsu finds it. There’s tons of zerefs instruments and creations out there that aren’t for anyone but Natsu

-Natsu likes to draw not well and he draws like a five year old however whenever it does it just makes him incredible happy and carefree (this is totally not based off of that scene in 100 year quest when Natsu wrote in the library books) and he doesn’t tell anyone about it but he likes to draw people sometimes it’s good sometimes it’s not but it just makes Natsu happy and whenever zeref sees Natsu draws he always sits next to him and watches happily

-Natsu’s very short and I mean like 5,3 and it’s cause Natsu has always been small he’s just small and zeref cant get over how funny it is because Natsu convinced half the people he knows he’s taller than he is by just not standing directly next to them it just makes zeref giggle sometimes Natsu literally needs to climb on him for missions but Natsu being small helps them do a lot of things like sneak into vents or something

-zeref is a big hugger and wraps his arms around Natsu head and in a death grip he rubs his face in Natsu hair. Sometimes zeref will lift Natsu up to see things and he always hugs Natsu before lifting him up on his hands

-Natsu and zeref both speak a different language and it’s not a normal language it’s a mix of old language from there town and draconic which makes a weird language no one knows because the whole town was wiped out. I also believe this town had there own customs and beliefs and coexist with dragons just didn’t care for them which is why they knew draconic but so jumbled with some other language Natsu and zerefs culture and language is just incomprehensible to anyone. This town celebrated life and death which is why zeref is named after death and Natsu is the summer it’s like after a volcano erupts new life begins.

-igneel was fond of zeref and wanted zeref to stay with him when he dropped Natsu at his door and zeref still does not know why

-Natsu and zeref hold hands all the time to not lose each other

-zeref has dragon parts like Natsu but more demonic from his curse but he’s rarely seen with his demon/dragon tail

-Natsu and zeref act so similar sometimes there both bubbly in the same way boyishly happy to be around each other

-would elfman Mirajane and lissanna be the opposite of ignia zeref and Natsu I think they have a “who are the better siblings battle

-Natsu and zeref hate ignias “nieces” (the gold dragons ancestors) because they thing there such great siblings when there just the worst versions of them

-Natsu and zeref can never take things seriously there always giggling and confused by the target
