Gaining a Mark
She rolled her eyes, “No need for the sarcasm, Crouch.”
“I was beginning to fear that you’d never catch up on it. Perhaps there’s hope for you, after all.”

“Never heard of the idea of being positive for once?”
“Never heard of speaking when spoken to?”

“I did have to spend quite a bit of time proving my loyalty. Seems like I’m starting to be trusted.”
“That’s great news!”
For a potential Death Eater, Anderson was disappointingly dim. She’d have to learn to pick up on sarcasm soon if she wanted to make it out of the meetings alive.

“Your words wound me, Crouch,” Emmeline said sarcastically.
“That would make my life so much easier, though.” Sadly, he still needed a wand for that.

A good memory that makes Barty smile.
Barty rarely saw or spoke to his mother's side of the family. The Crouches visited them every year on Boxing Day and on Barty's aunt and uncle's anniversary, but that was it.
He didn't know them at all, really -- his mother always spoke Dutch with them and when they tried to speak English, Barty had a hard time understanding their accents -- which was why he was so surprised when his mother told him he was going to spend his summer holidays with them.

A drabble about a romance/Barty’s love life.
Barty and Regulus's first kiss had been a little bit awkward. Slytherin had just won their first game of the season, thanks to Regulus's brilliant catch, and there had been a crowd of ecstatic house mates all around them.
Even though he had still been angry with his best friend, Barty had come to the game -- he'd never missed one ever since Regulus had made the team. Regulus, temporarily forgetting that Barty was angry at him, had run over to him and hugged him so tightly that Barty could hardly breathe.
When he realised that Barty wasn't hugging him back, Regulus pulled back. "Barty, it was just a rumour, I swear!" Regulus said, looking upset. "I never... you know." He wrinkled his nose.
"Why does everybody say it's true, then?" Barty frowned.
"Do you think I'd be alive if it were?" Regulus said, looking away from Barty. Barty followed his line of sight and saw that he was looking at Amycus Carrow. Of course, Barty thought. How could he have been so stupid? Everybody knew how much Amycus hated anyone who even showed the slightest interest in his sister.
"Oh," Barty said, feeling a little stupid. Regulus rolled his eyes at him and stood up on his tiptoes, leaning in. Barty couldn't believe this was actually happening, so he just stood there, eyes wide.
It was Barty's first kiss and he had no idea what he was doing -- Regulus didn't either, as far as he could tell -- but that was all right, because Regulus was kissing him and this was everything he had been dreaming about for the last two years.
"Oh," he repeated, after they broke apart, feeling more than a little stupid that he had never even considered the possibility that Regulus might feel the same way about him.
"Yeah," Regulus said, smiling up at him.

A story about Barty’s family/home life.
Barty wasn't surprised that his father hadn't come with his mother to pick him up. It wasn't like it was the Christmas holidays, after all. It was only normal that his father wouldn't find picking his only son up from Platform 9 3/4 after not seeing him for half a year important enough to get out of work early for. No, he wasn't surprised, but that didn't make it hurt any less.
He also wasn't surprised when his father showed up to Christmas dinner an hour late. The office was more important than family, right? He was vital to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. They couldn't run it without him.
He was even less surprised when his father downed his entire glass of wine in one go when his mother asked him why he'd stayed at the office so late on Christmas Eve.
Barty took that as his cue to leave; it usually only went downhill from there. He was right again, of course -- he heard the shattering of glass a little while later, combined with his father's booming shouts and his mother's quiet sobs.
His father had never touched his mother, Barty knew that, and while that might serve as an excuse for the man himself, it wasn't good enough for Barty.
Barty vowed that he would make his father pay for making both his mother's and his own life miserable one day, as he did every time his parents were fighting.
A few more years until he turned seventeen and could legally use magic outside of school. A few more years until he graduated. Just a few more years...
Regulus Black
Becoming friends with Regulus was the easiest and most natural thing Barty had ever done. Falling in love was the only logical next step. Sometimes Barty wondered how he hadn’t seen it coming from day one, the way he had almost been drawn to Regulus.
It hadn’t happened overnight, it hadn’t just been there one day. It had happened slowly, over time.
Barty found himself paying more attention to Regulus’s lips (as he was talking or laughing or eating or scowling or not even moving them at all) when they were thirteen.
He caught himself watching Regulus undress one day during their third year. (Regulus had a birth mark Barty liked on his left hip, he would spend hours tracing it in a few years’ time.)
When he heard a rumour that Regulus had snogged Alecto Carrow a year later, he felt angry enough to do something idiotic like confront Alecto about it. (A rumour that turned out to be utter bullshit, Barty found out a few days later, after he finally stopped ignoring Regulus and listened to his explanation.)
It wasn’t until they first kissed, though, that Barty realised why he’d been doing and feeling all of these things. Normally, he would have been angry with himself for being so oblivious, but he had his hands full of Regulus and nothing else mattered.
With you, I don’t feel butterflies in my stomach, no, I feel a thousand stars exploding in my chest at the same time.
