“  well  ,  well  ,  well.  if  it  isn’t  my  precious  little  ingénue  ,  ”  the  sheriff  called  out  ,  flashing  her  teeth  in  a  brilliant  smile.  she  sat  comfortably  reclined  on  her  luxurious  office  chair  ,  one  beautifully  sculpted  leg  draped  gracefully  over  the  other  ,  both  heels  resting  atop  her  desk.  “  i  don’t  believe  i  need  a  reason  to  summon  one  of  my  subjects. ”  she  had  one  ,  of  course.  beyond  her  pervasive  sense  of  curiosity  ,  but  that  would  come  to  light  in  due  time.

dark  hues  flickered  over  to  the  guards  who  were  stationed  in  the  doorway  ,  and  she  waved  a  hand  to  dismiss  them.  considering  her  age  ,  she  thought  their  presence  was  unnecessary  ,  but  the  queen  insisted  upon  it.  something  about  valuing  her  leadership  and  advice.  “  i  trust  you’re  staying  out  of  trouble  ?  ”  the  older  woman  added  while  gesturing  towards  one  of  the  empty  chairs  on  the  other  side  of  her  desk.  “  i’d  hate  to  have  to  punish  you.  ”  her  tone  was  dripping  in  sarcasm  ,  head  lulled  slightly  to  the  side.   a  punishment  could  absolutely  be  arranged.  

“If you missed me so much, you could have simply sent a postcard.” She offered in that same kind of well earned sarcasm, even as she did follow the directions that were wordlessly offered to her. Body lowered into the seat, before her legs slowly crossed one over the other, letting the slit in her dress reveal tattoo kissed thigh, as if she’d intended to create the visual for the Sherriff, especially at the mention of punishment that had her leaning back in her chair. “I have been on my best behavior, but punishment sounds like it could be fun, so I may request to change my answer.” Chin moved upward, as if it was a challenge in and of itself before she seemed to switch gears just as easily as she had sat down. 

Dark eyes glance around the shop with her words, he didn’t think it was that bad, maybe a little cluttered but what did she expect. “I wasn’t a little bitch,” He mutters hand running over his face, he hadn’t expected to see her here or really anywhere it was half the reason he chose a shit hole like Columbus Ohio.  “Great to see you again, Lou, what brings you to the centre of the world; Columbus fucking Ohio?” 

In her opinion, there was nothing in Ohio worth having or seeing, other than him - obviously. A small smile was there, but it was smug and just as entitled as she was, before giving him that look. “You, you bring me halfway across the world to Columbus fucking Ohio. The least you could do, after such a travesty, is offer me a drink.” 

a  lump  fixed  itself  in  her  throat  ,  heavy  from  the  weight  of  her  broken  heart  and  all  the  broken  promises  november  had  delivered  in  that  same  manner.  she  could  still  hear  them  now.

“It’s my weekend.” She repeated with understanding before she would speak again, the same cool calm affinity in her tone, full of reassurance she wasn’t sure was for Elise or herself. A small smile was there, uplifting the corner of her mouth just enough. “But they are till our children, family.” A reminder, as if they both needed that one, shrugging her shoulders temporarily before there was a pause. 

“I dont...” She stopped, before taking a step forward, like she had wanted to. Her body moving on autopilot if she’d left it alone long enough. “I didn’t mean to put you on the spot, you can go.” A hand waved in front of her, as if she was letting her exwife off the hook and inviting her to leave, like she probably should have in the first place.

there was nothing malicious about inviting the woman over that helped numb valentina to the harsh truths of her life. being around calliope was more than comfort, it was a sense of freedom that she couldn’t resist. she really refused to dwell deeper into the developed necessity for calliope in her life for some time now but when the words break through her wall of fake happiness and she is visibly shocked. shifting on her feet but there isn’t an instant denial to her brilliant observation, “what? no..,” she letting herself drown in the waters of her dead marriage with lies that aren’t keeping her afloat, “how could you say that? they love me just fine.”

shane’s eyebrow raised at logan, trying to read her but there was something off. they always did this, they would banter and annoy each other with the girls they brought back to their place. it’s been their things since shane learned that logan was not the prissy straight girl she assumed she was when they first met. but the way she grabbed her glass that shane could assume was more alcohol than not, it almost seemed like she was actually annoyed and not just part of the game they played. “i’m never wrong,” shane said, shaking her head before dropping down on the couch next to logan. plucking the glass out of her hands, shane took a sip before groaning and handing it back. “fuck man, why even beat around the bush with the lemonade?”
