1. 만족감을 오래 유지한다 정신력이 약한 사람들은 긍정적인 면보단 부정적인 면에 집중한다. 그래서 부정적인 면 하나에도 마음이 크게 쓰이는 것이다. 하지만 정신력이 강한 사람들은 부정적인 면은 인정하되 확대 재생산하지 않고, 그 부분은 최대한 작게 만들어 마음을 덜 쓰고, 긍정적인 부분을 곱씹어 스스로 만족감을 오래 유지할 수 있도록 한다. 이런 사고방식은 작은 실수 하나에 멘탈이 붕괴되는 일이 없게 돕는다.

2. 다른 사람들의 도움 받는 걸 부끄러워하지 않는다 정신이 건강한 사람들은 자기 자신의 에고(ego)에 갇혀 있지 않다. 그들은 필요할 때 다른 사람에게 도움 청하는 것을 두려워하지 않으며, 이것이 스스로를 무능하게 만든다는 생각은 하지 않는다. 왜냐하면, 사람은 누구나 모르는 부분이 있기 마련이고, 질문 몇 가지로 타인에게 모든 것을 평가받는 게 아니라는 사실을 알고 있기 때문이다.

3. 자기공포를 없앤다 자신의 정신력을 약하게 만드는 것은 외부환경이 아니라, 그 환경에 대응하는 스스로의 마음가짐이다. 정신력이 강한 사람들은 바로 자기 공포가 멘탈의 적이라는 것을 알고 있으므로, 자기 공포를 다스리는 데에 마음을 쓴다. 특히 일어나지도 않은 일을 계속 걱정하면서 불안을 극대화하지 않고, 실패하는 모습보다는 잘 해내는 모습을 상상하는 식으로 자기 공포를 없앤다.  

4. 자신을 용서할 줄 안다 자신에게 화를 내고 비난하는 것은 현재와 미래를 망치는 지름길이다. 잘못을 하거나 실수했더라도, 계속 자학과 비난으로 자신을 대하는 것보다, 과거는 과거대로 남겨두고 그로부터 배움을 얻어 더 나은 현재와 미래를 만드는 게 중요하다.

5. 정기적으로 운동한다 너무나 당연한 말이지만 그만큼 매우 중요한 사항이다. ‘Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute’에서 진행된 한 연구는 10주 동안 매주 2번씩 운동을 한 사람들이 더 사회적이고, 지적이고, 유능해진다는 결과를 발표한 바 있다. 운동하면서 신체의 고통을 이겨냄으로써 자신을 더 신뢰하고, 인내심을 기르며 삶에 대한 긍정적인 성향을 기를 수 있기 때문이다.  

6. 완벽하지 않아도 된다고 생각한다 완벽주의자인 사람은 주로 다른 사람들의 시선을 과하게 인식하는 경우가 많다. 완벽해야만 다른 사람들에게 자기 자신 혹은 자신의 결과물을 당당하게 드러낼 수 있다고 생각하는 것이다. 하지만 이런 완벽주의에 집착하다가는 스스로가 누구인지를 잊게 된다. 정신력이 강한 사람들은 평가를 두려워하지 않고, 자신의 마음과 결정에 따라 자신감을 갖고 행동한다. 타인의 평가로부터 자유로우므로, 완벽하지 않더라도 자신을 있는 그대로 사랑할 줄 안다.

7. 위기에 차분하게 대처한다 정신력이 강한 사람들은 위기가 닥쳤을 때, 감정에 동요되어 우왕좌왕하지 않고 침착하기 위해 애쓴다. 불안한 태도가 위기를 대처하는 데 도움되지 않는다는 것을 알기 때문이다. 좋은 결과는 차분하고 안정된 마음으로 임했을 때 얻을 수 있으므로, 위기 상황일수록 이성을 찾고 침착할 줄 알아야 한다.    

8. 쓸데없는 데 힘쓰지 않는다 우리는 종종 삶에서 스스로가 통제할 수 있는 건 우리 자신의 태도뿐이라는 것을 깨닫곤 한다. 자신의 힘으로 어찌할 수 없는 일임에도 그 일에 너무 많은 에너지를 쏟으면, 상황은 하나도 변하지 않은 채 탈진하게 될 것이다. 자신의 통제력을 벗어난 일은 아예 신경 쓰지 않는 것이 정신력 강한 사람들의 특징이다.    

9. 실패를 받아들인다 멘탈이 강한 사람들은 실패를 잘 받아들인다. 왜냐하면, 그들은 그 실패가 성공으로 가는 길에서 꼭 만나야 하는 이정표라고 생각하기 때문이다. 누구도 실패를 수용하지 않고는 참된 성공을 할 수 없다. 더불어 너무나 참담하고 좌절감 느끼는 일이 있을 때도, 그들은 가장 힘든 순간에 돌파구가 나타나리라는 희망을 품고 인내한다.

I tried my best to stick with characters that are confirmed to be cannon.  Not trying to invalidate any head cannons, but I am focusing on the cannon which is what I’ll be listing.  Sometimes there are some debate over certain characters, if you disagree with a character I apologize I’m doing my best.
