Suddenly, there was a warm peace She cared no more to understand Resolution was a premise that was alluring, no more Then she buried her old excitement in a cold muddy ground Beside the empty potential of so many things that hardly mattered She was creating space for tomorrow Laying disappointment to rest.

Quick history lessonâŚ
What is now known as Puerto Rico, is a little island in the Caribbean archipelago.
It was originally inhabited by TaĂnos (natives to the land), who referred to the land as BorikĂŠn.
In 1493, in his second voyage to the Americas, Christopher Columbus claimed the island for...

A lot of people donât know how many ways racism can manifest itself and in how many ways people fight against it. When I think of how racist, how Eurocentric our so-called education in Amerika is, it staggers my mind.

When people say that homosexuality is too hard for kids to understand, I lol.
Itâs really not that hard is it to say, âSometimes boys like boys and sometimes girls like girls. Now eat your fucking jello.â
I like jello
the purpose of education is to instill and develop inner peace in every single individual that is being educated.
the purpose of education is to train individuals to be critical thinkers at all times.
having peace is the answer to all problems because once you live in peace, problems become void and impossible, because you then reject any notion that problems exist to bring you down.
negativity is thrown out the window.
any education system or any classroom in which students are being terrorized, manipulated, and forced to regurgitate other pplâs beliefs and ideas, well, thats not education my dude. thatâs MENTAL SLAVERY.
peace.
People get used to anything. The less you think about your oppression, the more your tolerance for it grows. After a while, people just think oppression is the normal state of things. But to become free, you have to be acutely aware of being a slave.

Jordan Trent Miles
had never been in trouble with the law
was on the High Honor Roll at CAPA High School
was a viola player for both CAPAâs symphony orchestra and jazz band
On January 12, 2010, one day after his 18th birthday, CAPA High School honors student Jordan Trent Miles was ambushed by three plain clothes Pittsburgh police officers, who failed to identify themselves and approached him aggressively. The officers did not say âStop! Police!â, they jumped out of an unmarked vehicle, one of them yelling âWhereâs your money? Whereâs the drugs? Whereâs the gun?â Miles, never before in trouble with the police and thinking he was being robbed, began to run, and slipped on the icy sidewalk. The officers overtook Miles and administered a brutal beating that left him unrecognizable, ripping dreadlocks out of his head, and continuing to beat him as he lay on the ground after their initial assault, stammering the Lordâs Prayer. There can be no explaining away or excusing what was done to Miles. The police officers lied about what happened, claiming there was a bulge in his pocket they assumed was a gun but âturned out to be a Mountain Dew bottleâ. No bottle was ever entered into evidence, and Jordan and his friends will tell you he doesnât even drink the soda. The officers also attempted to claim a neighbor reported him as a prowler and attempted to bring assault charges against Miles, which were tossed out of court when the neighbor said she did no such thing. Despite all this, the City of Pittsburgh went on to reward these violent officers with a commendation and, during their suspension, paid them more than they earned while working. Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh DA has not brought charges and the Justice Department announced on May 4th, 2011 that it would not prosecute the three officers. The mayor and police chief announced on May 5th that the three officers would be returning to work.Â

Here is a Georgia State Trooper in riot gear at a KKK protest in a north Georgia city back in the 80s. The Trooper is black. Standing in front of him and touching his shield is a curious little boy dressed in a Klan hood and robe. I have stared at this picture and wondered what must have been going through that Trooperâs mind. Before the Trooper is an innocent child who is being taught to hate him because of the color of his skin. The child doesnât understand what he is being taught, and at this point he doesnât seem to care. Like any other child his curiosity takes hold and he wants to explore this new thing that this man is holding probably because he can see his reflection in it and thatâs a neat thing and he wants to check it out. In this picture I see innocence mixed with hate, the irony of a black man protecting the right of white people to assemble in protest against him, temperance in the face of ignorance, and hope that racism can be broken because this young boy may remember that a black man smiled at him once and he didnât seem so bad after all.
