I’ve never had a boyfriend. I’ve been focused on surviving my whole life that having a relationship wasn’t a priority.

I was talking to my friend the other week and I had this realization about how I was left to survive on my own and be self-sustaining from a young age. I was nine when my brother was sick then I was 10 when my sister was sick and tried to kill herself and that didn’t stop for another decade. I had to become the independent good grade can do it herself child. And I don’t think my parents ever realized why. And now that I’m older, it breaks my own heart to think of the pain that I had to go through and just keep my chin up. I was young. I was impressionable I needed someone to protect me. Why did no one protect me? Why did no one check in on me? Why did no one ask me if I was OK?
