Eddie isn’t even aware of himself or his feelings. Its clear he has repressed a lot of his identity and his turn back to the church further amplifies his fear in accepting himself.

Let my boys get over their traumas first.

If they gave you people buddie immediately you wouldn’t be happy. Its a lot more natural to do it this way instead of forcing them into a relationship.

The show isn’t over, calm down.

And its clear that ABC are working toward it. Fox didn’t even have that many Ryan and Oliver interview panels and ABC have had LOADS (the Buddie panel guys.)

It appears to be happening at some point (from interviews) and the actors want it to happen.

Eddie: You two told me you were gonna spend your stay here sightseeing, so stop meddling and go experience LA.

Sophia: Anyway, speaking of sightseeing Edmundo, are you seeing anyone?

Eddie: Like hallucinating or...?

Adriana: Honestly Mundito, both.

Eddie: Single and no hallucinations. Happy?

Adriana: Not even a 6'2 blue eyed mirage that could bench press you without breaking a sweat?

I'm not normally one to really participate in fandom spaces but recently I got super into 911 to the point where i've started reading fic and logging into tumblr again, and I'm just having a lot of feelings about eddie diaz and i dont know where else to put them. so here goes...

I see a lot of conflicting things about eddie in fandom spaces, and a lot of opinions about his history and his sexuality and his relationship with shannon. I have my own opinions ofc, but I am so so so fascinated by eddie and shannon's relationship and i'm so upset that the writers fridged her. Just imagine what we could have had with their relationship. I know most of fandom is convinced eddie is gay, but as much as I love buddie, I am convinced that shannon was one of the great loves of eddie's life. (my personal opinion of eddie's sexuality is that he's demisexual/demiromantic, and has really only ever had those sorts of feelings for shannon and buck, his two best friends).

I specifically want to talk about something that I dont really see fandom addressing at all about eddie's time in the army. I've seen a lot of people hating on shannon for leaving like she did, and a lot of people hating on eddie for "running away" to the army during the early years of christopher's life. It was a shitty situation and they were having all sorts of miscommunications that exacerbated the shittyness of the situation, but bear in mind that these are two 18/19 year olds with no college education, no money, no good jobs and a baby on the way. A "normal" baby would have been hard enough, but they had a medically complex child with cp, and what i presume was a rough birth and a long hospital stay for them both, but the bills must have been astronomical. I'm also assuming from the clues we've gotten on the show that they were receiving little to no support from their parents, and in fact, eddie's parents were being actively terrible to shannon and increasing the stress she was under.

All this to say, the only reason this little family was not drowning in medical debt and on the verge of poverty is because of the military benefits and health insurance that eddie was getting, and that his family was covered by. They should have communicated better, and supported each other more, but they were two young adults doing the best they could, each fighting their own wars (shannon was a de facto single mom for a child with cp with evil in laws, eddie was in afghanistan). It makes sense with all these stressors that their relationship imploded when eddie got discharged, especially if shannon's mom's cancer and eddie's injuries and ptsd were more stressors to add to the pile.

But eddie having army benefits and training made it so he could get a firefighter/paramedic job, and enough savings to hire carla and get christopher into that fancy private school that accommodates his needs. So its was a difficult set of circumstances that they had to navigate, but I don't know what they could have done differently and still had the amount of financial security that they did. Its the tragedy of america that they make healthcare so inaccessible that desperate young people with no other option join the military for benefits, especially people of color, but there you have it.

However, I think if shannon hadn't died, they could have had a chance to make it. maybe they would divorce, maybe they would get back together, but I think they would have been friends/lovers who coparented well together and loved each other as family regardless of if they were together or not. They both love christopher so much, and they were both doing their best and they could have had it all. (im crying now)

A place where creativity comes first, where every fan is welcome to share their ideas, and where we can spend the summer celebrating everything we love about 9-1-1 while we wait for the new season.

Before we begin, though, I want to explain what this project is—and what it isn't.

❤️ A Different Corner of the Fandom

This isn't a "Buddie" fandom and that's completely intentional.

Not because I want to exclude Buddie fans—quite the opposite.

The Buddie community is already incredibly active, creative, and fortunate to have countless events, prompts, challenges, and spaces where people can celebrate the pairing together.

Honestly?

I'm a little jealous. 😄

So instead of trying to compete with something that already exists, I wanted to create something different.

A space for everyone who enjoys 9-1-1 from another perspective.

Whether your favorite part of the show is the rescues, the friendships, the families, the character development, the writing, or completely different ships, this is your chance to create alongside people who share that same spirit.

Different doesn't mean better.

Different simply means... different.

And I think that's something this fandom deserves.

🎨 What Are These Challenges?

Beginning with the first week of July, I'll be launching one new creative challenge every week.

Each challenge will last seven days, giving everyone plenty of time to participate.

There are no winners.

No rankings.

No pressure.

Just creativity.

You can participate however you like.

✍️ Write a fanfiction.

🎨 Draw traditional artwork.

🖥️ Create digital art.

🎥 Make an edit or a video.

📸 Design graphics.

🎵 Create playlists.

📚 Write meta or analysis.

💭 Share headcanons.

Honestly...

If it's creative, it belongs here.

There are no limits on the medium you choose.

The only goal is to have fun together.

📌 The Only Rule

There is only one creative guideline for these challenges.

Since this project was created specifically to explore another side of the fandom, Buddie (Buck/Eddie as a romantic pairing) won't be part of these prompts.

Buck and Eddie's friendship—their incredible brotherhood—is absolutely welcome.

Their romantic interpretation simply isn't the focus of this particular project.

Likewise, the Ravi/May pairing won't be featured, since this space follows the continuity and relationships established within my own fanfiction universe.

Everything else is fair game.

Canon couples.

Past couples.

Rare pairs.

Friendships.

Sibling relationships.

Mentorships.

Family dynamics.

Crossovers.

Original characters.

Alternate universes.

Missing scenes.

You have complete creative freedom.

For readers familiar with my stories, you're also more than welcome to include characters and relationships from my universe, including Maydie, Bucklara, Rosavi, and Hallie, alongside original characters like, for example, David (Rosario's brothers).

But none of that is required.

Whether you stay entirely within canon or venture into something completely original, you're invited to join us.
