Finally! The Chapter 3 update is online, click here to read. Please be sure to check the updated content warnings.
This is a partial update, more will come in the next one. I would suggest not caring about saves this round because the next update will require restarting to work properly.
I don't have much to add, please let me know if there are any issues and I hope it's enjoyable!
Apropos of nothing and perhaps only a little inspired by the previous reblog to finish it, a short character story set in a New York tattoo shop, about 9 years prior to the start of the game.
Character short: Marley
The beep of the entry sensor disturbs his lunch. Sal puts down his sandwich and grumbles a few obscenities. Some people won't read. Some people won't even look at the color indicator on the door. Moments like this he wonders how come most of his clientele is young adults and wishes his business could attract the older grumpy types. Those make appointments. They know the value of time.
He squeezes out of the service room, grabbing a towel on the way to do away with the grease. Other than that, Sal deems himself presentable. At least presentable enough to tell off whomever dares enter the door he forgot to lock.
In just a few steps Sal sees who it is.
The lad has been here before. He stands there in his typically pristine clothes, of beige that Sal finds a messy eyesore, ogling the wall of Sal's previous work like he were in a damn art gallery, hands clasped behind his back. Not browsing, actually fucking studying it. Something warm wraps around Sal's neck and his chest puffs out a little.
"I ought to just straight ban you from this place." He brings down the towel onto the reception counter with passion. The intruder has the gall to smile apologetically, although he is damn capable of reading, of that Sal is sure. "I don't need mommy and daddy in here screaming their lungs out like I'm the problem."
The boy laughs—Sal cannot call him anything but a boy, although he has seen his ID to confirm that what's-his-name is at least 18—and returns to scanning the drawings. "They know who the problem is," he says with mirth.
"You all say this," Sal parries, sighing. Much to his reluctant admission, he was never good in dealing with the polite types, although rarely did he ever need to. "What do you want? Quick, it's lunch break."
"Oh." The lad turns to face Sal, expression humbled, but doesn't move to leave the shop. "You have a sketch in there, of an astrochart, not a finished tattoo. I like it."
Sal narrows his eyes, feeling wary and strangely defensive all of a sudden. "You want to buy… a sketch?"
"Ah, no." He raises his right hand and places it on the top of his left shoulder blade. "Somewhere here."
Although the drawing immediately comes to mind, Sal walks to find it on the wall, hoping to see in it what the lad has seen. The wall is busy—the best he had done was not have the images overlap—but the light lines stand out in the sea of ink. Out of the base of the databank cube lines burst out in a projection of a star system, Sal cannot recall which one even if his life depended on it. The charts are tweaked to splay like that only for expos, the everyday usage is far more prosaic. He drew it years ago, almost a decade, on a stained diner table on the way to visit his aunt. It wasn't supposed to mean anything, just a quick gift for a boyfriend he had back then, when both dreamed big and spoke tall.
Kids all like the same shiny things, he absently notes and resigns to throwing out his sandwich at a later time.
"Take the chair," Sal grumbles, and the small light in the lad's eyes flares up.
Red neon on the outwards facing sign wards off other visitors—which are rare to non-existent at this time—and Sal tells the lad to bare the shoulder. It is not the best place, he thinks, and he is used to arguing for the sake of a satisfied customer. They were never right, especially not the likes of this one.
What he sees answers many questions. The very logical spot on the upper arm is taken.
Three circlets of lines: dashed, diagonal, crossing. It is simple geometry. It is lousy geometry, too, the kind that forces you to drive your prices into the ground until you either improve or realize there are other jobs. He runs a thumb, teasing it a bit, exposing the glaring faults of the work that is already well-faded.
"Ever heard of touch up?" Sal criticizes before the dots, much like the dots in his drawing, connect. "Who the fuck did these?"
"Uh, a friend." The reply is awkward but earnest. Sal hardly wants to know more because—
He glances at the ID again: Jordan, Marley, Owen, date of birth—second of May…and it's barely June. Belated happy eighteens.
"Did your friend ask you to provide your parents' permission?"
"She did," the lad—Marley—replies with ease.
Sal feels his jaw grit, but he knows this line of questioning leads to a maze he is too familiar with already. The permits lends themselves to forgery, and no one cares. Some places do not even ask. Some places do it as a side hustle, and the sole damage waiver is pretending you do not know each other for the rest of your lives.
"You sure you want it there?" He pivots instead. "You won't see it."
Marley lets out a short laugh as if the question is in any way amusing. "Yes, there."
But the shitty one goes onto his upper arm, Sal notes with discontent but decides not to argue, although the whole thing feels almost insulting. Marley's track record is hardly something Sal wants to add to, given what lousy of a job he has accepted prior.
Well, he can't expect much from a kid, is how he convinces himself. Maybe once the lad gets something decent…
Instead he measures, finding the good spot and size that he will need to specify for the machine. The tattoo is numerous dots and thin lines, but the lad is not too bony, which balances it out.
Once finished, Sal turns him around to the high-pitched creaking of the chair. If this is some kind of a joke, Sal wants the punchline to land already. But Marley looks at him with a silent question in his eyes, his expectation entirely different. Sal just sighs.
"You're so weird," he voices. It doesn't explain his frustration, not even to himself, but no word of it is a lie.
The lad's hands are crossed, hanging loosely over his hips, and the look on his face is genuinely curious. "Oh, why?"
This kid is a headache, but a well-spoken one, with at least a semblance of an idea what he's doing, so Sal, despite himself, explains.
"You show up here, reeking of good grades, family vacations and a spotless record, a star athlete too for whatever sport trends now, probably. On a rapid shuttle to some top school—and you haunt my shitty shop and look at these tattoos like you are in a fucking museum. Like, fuck, yes, that's weird. Is this a rebellious phase? I might as well book you for removal in three weeks."
Oh, and the fucking beige, but that is a nail too many and too petty even for Sal.
His chest feels lighter. Still, he doesn't chase him out. The lad looks up, a pleasant smile fixed on his face.
"I'm ready to sign the contract," Marley replies.
Bullheaded. With this revelation, Sal relaxes, one foot back in the familiar territory. All of his customers are, that is why they land in his chair. Each searching for their own closure in a few dozen millilitres of ink when the rest of the civilization has found other outlets.
He looks at the sketch in the center of his screen, looks at the young man who requested it, and for a fleeting moment feels a surge of confidence his silly drawing will be taken to the stars, and there is no better place for an astrochart.
How silly.
Sal scoffs—at himself—and names the price because his feet are firmly on the ground. No discounts, not for a silliness, and he tosses the price of the sandwich on top.
The EU is defending this by saying that a workplace is only allowed to do this if they have 'a good reason' and it's needed to protect the peace and neutrality of the workplace, and gives as example that a school who outlaws headscarves need to show that there are parents who are 'uncomfortable' with the presence of people who show their religion.
In other words, everyone can do it and very easily.
Remember people, even if you're don't care about muslim women for some godawful racist reason, when we have vague neutrality laws that prohibit "political, philosophical and religious beliefs" they can be used to affect everyone.
The Belgian headscarf ban in public offices already led to a ban on anything that signals queerness. A woman with short hair is political. Wearing covered clothing or wearing revealing clothing is political. What does 'phylosopical beliefs' even mean here, you can put so much random shit under that.
a person of color will always have a political body, wheter they want to or not. A religious minority never gets to be neutral.
'Neutral' as a public face does not exist. It's just who looks the most like who's in charge. And you might fit in there right now, but one day you will not.
Get angry for other people before it comes to that.

It is me again, your totally legit supplier of very good assets {100% GOOD!!! NO BUGS!!!}. I am back with a pretty useful folder for you! This whole affair is still scam free and no bug included! Download another funky folder to dive deeper into the world of Twine! A ready-to-use folder, still in exchange for nothing {YES, THIS IS STILL 100% FREE!!!} but your love and adoration for my help. What a steal!
Been wanting to use Tweego because the Twine App is left to be desired or because your project is so large it makes the App lag?
I PRESENT TO YOU THE...
Ready-to-Use Tweego Folder
Including an explanation guide on how to set it all up (4 steps max) and ready-to-code files. You can also find the guide online here.
ENJOY!!!
(Tumblr doesn't want me to link the devlog like just above. But it's the last one I created)
NEXT: CScript to Sugarcube Guide with Tweego compiler coming in a few days
sort of trying to imitate a dvd extras section so i've got a 'how to draw (robot)' passage in it so far, but if anyone has suggestions for other things to put in there i'd love to hear them!
I would choose Twine over CS any day. While you'll need some time to learn how to use Twine, it is pretty intuitive in terms of coding, it has great aesthetic customisation and, maybe most importantly, it is completely free and lets you publish and distribute your game at your own pace and conditions.
I'm probably one of the only IF authors who learned to use CS after Twine and for me it just did not click. I widely prefer coding in Twine and the lack of build in save system in ChoiceScript is a huge turn off.
Lastly, there are more and more helpful angels who are sharing templates and coding help for Twine here on Tumblr specifically for IF authors so there's another pro, personally.
Hello everyone 🥰 I’ve been busy with some personal things lately and haven’t had the time to even check my tumblr accounts (or even write my stories) :( But I haven’t come here to talk about that :D This post isn’t interactive fiction related at all, so you may ignore it if you want.
My friends and I started a dubb channel for Psych2go. We translate and dubb their videos into Turkish. There really isn’t a channel in Turkish that talks about psychology. That is why we decided to carry out this project. The reaction has been positive so far 😊 I thought to share the channel here as well. I do not know if I have many Turkish followers but I would really appreciate it if you shared the channel with others.
I've just updated the Alpha Build, and you can play the whole thing now on my Patreon. This also means that we only have one chapter left before the end of the game.
I should be able to finish Chapter 10 in about 3 weeks.
The word count for THS is currently at 364.000 words, which is sth like 134.000 words per playthrough. That's almost twice as much as Temple of Endless Night when I was sitting down to edit it.
The closed beta will take place in October, but I'll probably make a few posts about it before it begins. I know that I'll be looking for 10 people on the CoG Forum.

Your posts about the historical stuff are really cool! Do you have any recommendations for documentaries, too?
Actually yes!
I have one specific film that I recommend to everyone called Ghosts of the Abyss, from when a team of scientists and filmmakers sent cameras into the wreck of Titanic back in 2001.
There are also a few YouTube channels to look at that are really good including History Tea Time with Lindsay Holiday, UsefulCharts, and History Matters.
As for individual documentaries, here's a small list for you to check out of my top 5:
Ok so im honestly just to excited to wait. I think I got most of the serious errors fixed so im going a head and uploading the full chapter! Once my beta gets back to me with any other things ive missed ill go back and edit it. Until then enjoy and let me know what your guys think of the update! Im honestly pretty happy with how it turned out!
It’s finally here… after years of editing, scrapping, and re-writing, the new TLH update is here. I really hope you guys enjoy it and I look forward to any feedback I receive! Shout out to my beta-testers who caught a lot of bugs and spelling errors – it means the world to me that yall took the time to play through the game and help me find and fix any errors that appeared. I cannot express my gratitude enough!! <3
So…
The new word count of the whole game combined is about 39k words without code.
You can now raise more skill and personality stats alongside setting the foundation for your mc’s relationships with the characters (to some degree). These will come into play more in chapter 2!
Coded a new pronoun and identity ‘system’ so people now need to manually input their pronouns. No more settling for only three pronouns! Go ham!
Child MC’s now have separate choices and text from adult and young adult MCs.
You can now meet (nearly) all the companion characters, but not all in one playthrough.
Edited and Re-wrote the majority of chapter one alongside streamlining its code. There are now re-written intros to each MC age and rehauled various (if not all of the) scenes in chapter one.
Made a lil’ graphic that appears on game start up – loading varies depending on internet and device (for some reason).
Edit: lmao in my excitement I forgot to post the link… PLAY IT HERE: https://dashingdon.com/play/clamoribusrogamina/trails-lead-home/mygame/
First of all, I want to say thank you everyone for your patience and enthusiasm for this chapter! It's a huge chapter with more than 55K words and split into two files (although readers won't probably notice it when reading) with quite a lot of variations and flavour texts. Now, the total word count for all chapters available is around 78.5K words.
For old readers who have previously played the Prologue and Chapter 1, I think this update will break the old saves and I recommend to play from the beginning since I've tweaked some stuff in both Prologue and Chapter 1.
If you guys have Choice of Games Forum account, I need you guys' help to please send screenshots of your MC's abilities, skills, personalities, and hidden stats (I've enabled readers to see hidden stats in the stats screen for this update) there on the thread.
It will help me a lot in balancing and setting the stats checks that will come into play in the next chapter, since Chapter 2 will be the last chapter for any abilities and skills stat increase. I would recommend focusing on one primary skill and getting a bit on one more skill as a secondary one, instead of trying to be a jack-of-all-trades. While for the abilities (grav and umbra), it's up to you guys, but I think there will always be one that will be higher than the other one.
Without further ado, some things you guys will be able to do this chapter include:
More MC customization options.
Have breakfast with Ash.
Visit your dad's grave.
Attend your birthday party.
Meet Rin and Takashi.
Talk and get to know a bit more about the other characters.
Receive some awesome birthday presents.
And many other stuff I haven't mentioned yet that I can't wait for you guys to enjoy!
Some minor stuff I've updated previously or on this update that I just want to bring into attention to:
Added toggle function for MC's patronymic name in the stat screen. It'll automatically be turned on in the beginning, and if you don't think your MC's name fits with the Russian naming convention, then feel free to toggle it off in the stat screen.
Female MC can now insert their own feminine form of custom surnames (mostly for Slavic surnames such as "Kozlov" turning into "Kozlova") while still keeping the MC's dad's surname in masculine form.
I've added Luka's artbreeder picture in his character guide stat screen.
I've tweaked the killer's little taunt in the Prologue.
I've removed the options to increase umbra or grav when the teacher sings praises about MC to MC's dad to help remove the dilemma for readers.
live art stream in The Moonless discord server august 15th at 6pm CEST - click here to join the server and see the event!
as a few of you might've seen in my weekly moonday update, i'm having an art stream in the discord server later today! it'll be my first attempt at a larger-scale stream through discord, so with a lil bit of luck, everything will work out fine.
there's no pressure to do anything but watch me draw if you want to join, and hopefully, everyone will have a good time!

Warning : This IF is rated 18+ and will include descriptions of death, kidnapping, abuse, plagues/disease, and other potentially disturbing content.
Life as a simple merchant in a city as large as Yaafena, the capitol of Syleric, was never easy for you, but it becomes much harder when you find an ancient artifact that once belonged to your grandfather, an artifact which defines you as the sole survivor of not only your bloodline, but your entire race. Accompanied by a mercenary hired for your protection, a wandering dancer, your estranged childhood friend of regal descent, and a tavern owner with suspicious ancestry, you embark on a dangerous journey through your nation to find the true abilities your ancestors provided you with.
The Mercenary: Nasiphe (F)
A young woman graced with significant talent in battle, well-known throughout Syleric as a ruthless and loyal member of The Forsaken Brotherhood, and the only woman among their ranks. Rumor has it that any humanity she previously possessed was beaten out of her early in her childhood, and she has since become a stone-hearted warrior who swiftly ends anyone who gets in her way. Don't get too close to her, many terrified citizens warn, for she is a vessel of destruction and malice.
The Musician: Faelyn (Gender Selectable)
Once a petty theif, they were born in the nearby nation of Monadh, but fled their land of birth in their youth to avoid being prosecuted for their crimes. Playful and bubbly, you'll rarely see Faelyn without a smile on their face. They have recently become quite a popular musician in Yaafena due to their incredible gift in both lyricism and playing many instruments. They travel often and have been to many other nations to perform, but, in their opinion, none can measure up to the great land they are so proud to call home.
The Laird: Elsare (Gender Selectable)
Your childhood best friend and the heir to the throne of Syleric, a kind and gentle soul known for their wisdom and compassion, Elsare has always been the perfect child, and will soon become the perfect ruler. You haven't spoken in over a decade, but, from what you can see, they are still the same curious and hardworking person as they were when the two of you were just children. They can often be seen in the palace library, perusing through the various books they have most likely read many times over.
The Proprietor: Levias (M)
The owner of a small underground tavern named The Sleeping Nomad, he was reportedly born to a noble family, but rejected their lifestyle to make a name for himself. Levias is notoriously handsome and flirtatious, and has women and men alike falling prey to his sweet talk and tempting offers nearly everywhere he goes. Some speculate about his ancestry, as he tends to be incredibly secretive about his lineage. Many note his humanoid appearance, but he has many strange features that make some question what he really is.
Almost done with @interactivesummer's prompts (still not bored, one more day!).
Another Vasmosia sibling!
These may or may not be canon.
Day 14 - Melt - Arturo - 625 words
Arturo took out his handkerchief from his pocket and dabbed his dripping forehead. As ice forgotten in the sun, the young man was melting on his chair. He tried to pull on his collar to let some air through his heavy robes, but it made little difference. Soon, he would be found as a puddle of sweat on the wooden floor of the Law Office.
That damned summer!
Arturo scanned the clerk room. With the office facing dead south, under the midday sun, the space was heating up to the point of boiling –he felt–. And he was alone in this predicament. His fellow clerks and superiors had chosen for him to stay behind on this warm day instead of closing shop for luncheon. He truly had gotten the short end of the stick today.
The young clerk got up and walked to the large window facing his desk. If he could not leave the room, he would try to make it a bit more bearable for himself. Arturo pulled the string hanging next to the window, hoping to lower the curtain rolled up above and block the blasted rays. Nothing moved.
What? They still haven’t fixed it!?
He pulled the string harder and shook it around, to no avail. The rolled-up cloth stay immovable on top of the gigantic glass panel. Arturo frown, but continued on his less-than-sane path.
Come on! Get down, you damned thing!
He pulled the string with all of his might, hoping this time it would be different.
SNAP!
Arturo looked bewildered at the broken string twirling like a ballet dancer down to nest on his hand, the snapped end leaving traces of fluff in its passage.
Shit…
He glanced around the room again, scared someone saw his mistake and give him a sermon for breaking company property. That or a client walking on him failing at such little task. How embarrassing… Thankfully, the office was still void of other souls. Arturo sighed of relief before turning back his attention towards the single-panelled window.
This little setback would not stop him from achieving his goal. He would try anything to stop the sun from melting his skin. He used his handkerchief to clear his neck, while examining the window. If he could not bring that damn curtain down from his level, he would climb up and roll it down himself!
Arturo looked around and tried to find something to help his tedious climb towards the ceiling. He hoped for a conveniently placed filing cabinet or bookcase, a sound and reliable structure to hold his weight and balance. He was most disappointed that those furniture were drilled to the opposite wall.
Curses!
Still, that would not stop his quest; he was not one to back down from a challenge. Arturo spotted a few study filing boxes and chairs, pushed them close to the window and built an inevitable sandcastle –it would come crashing down at any moment–.
When he felt confidently secure about his unstable tower, Arturo pulled himself up the dangerous makeshift ladder to reach the top. He carefully planned his next move, ensuring his grabs could hold himself long enough to reach the next one. His balance was threatened once or twice, as the tower was faltering and swinging side to side.
Almost there…
As his hand reached the curtain rod, pushing the cloth down to cover the window, the towed continued its dangerous swinging, much harder now. It loudly crumbled under him. It was by pure luck, or just in time, that his other hand grabbed the rod and left him hanging.
Phew… At least no one–
“Me. Arturo,” a voiced cracked in the office like thunder. “Are we in a Law office or a zoo, here?”
Shit…
