Wake up, turn off the alarm, roll out of bed, go and make a cup of coffee – start getting prepared for work. This had been a routine for her for SO LONG, that she felt numb from it. True, the excitement which would come from time to time to her work place made up for it, and yet she had long dreamed to escape from it all just for a week at least. Recharge her batteries, remember why she loved life so much and why she pitied those who were laid out on her slab.
A simple vacation would have been JUST FINE, a week at some resort in Italy or other, but James kicked it up a notch, never capable of doing things the easy way. A private island, now completely belonging to him, just because he was unwilling to put her in ANY sort of possible danger. Molly found that quite silly, from time to time. It doesn’t matter whether she’s in London or, say, Moscow; danger is danger. It lurks everywhere. But as silly as it was, the gesture was also especially sweet and endearing. And if she was being honest with herself, a private island is much better than a place stuffed with tourists.
And, man, the ability to sleep in alone left a sweet taste lingering on the back of her tongue. A bit reluctantly, she parts with the land of dreams only to come conscious to a strong arm wrapping around her and dark eyes already directed at her bleary ones. Lazy, sleepy smile forms on her features and she whispers out a greeting of her own, fingers gently wrapping around his forearm.
“Better than in a decade, probably.” Molly gives a small joke, a beaming smile not leaving her face even as she bit down on her lower lip. It’s only their first day secluded in the island, and yet she already felt so incredibly happy, her chest felt as though it would burst open any time from all the joy. Just her and her Jim, alone, UNBORTHERED for the entire week. Only the morning of the first week and she was already feeling as though the time was running too fast for her liking. “Did you sleep good?”
James found himself watching her movements rather intensely, taking in every small twitch and movement of her face. He watched as her eyelashes blinked a few times before giving him a full view of those beautiful light eyes that lay hidden underneath. He took a moment to commit this image to memory, so he could have it for the rest of his days. There was a part of him that wanted to live in this moment forever, but being a realist he knew that just simply wasn’t possible. Sooner or later she would return to her job and he to his own.
It almost amazed him at how something so simple had the ability to be so appealing. All the years before this he had never once thought that the dating scene was for him, there was too much work to be done, too much mayhem to cause. Besides finding people who held his interest was a rare occurrence, and most that could hardly made decent dating material. Molly however had managed the impossible, she managed to tame the monster if only enough to occasionally act like a civilized man.
There was part of Moriarty that was rather aware that this relationship of theirs most likely had a time limit. Sooner or later she would realize just how much of a monster he was and that naive would be stripped away and she would leave. He was not like Sherlock, he didn’t believe himself to have a good core deep down inside, hidden under all the rot that was his heart. He would always be a monster masquerading as a man, and given time she would realize that and run for the hills as she should. However he pushed those darker thoughts away, deciding that regardless of it all he was going to live in the moment, and enjoy her love while he had it.
“I could tell, I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen you sleep in before..” he mused softly, his hand slowly drawing circles on her back as he layed in bed with her. “I slept wonderfully.. Almost missed the sunrise which is unusual for me..” he offered a soft smile.
“Would you like some breakfast? Or shall we relax in bed awhile longer?”
