I don't know if they interacted at all, as I came in near the end of Ryan Higa's stream, but Steve and Ludwig were part of the same Valo lobby for scrimages (prepping for Abe's tourney).
Yeah I went and looked and Steve was filling in for the radiant on Ryan’s team for some scrims and they ended up going agains Ludwig’s team. It was just one game and you can watch on either Ryan Higa’s POV to see Steve’s team or from Miyoung’s POV. Inspire the pro on Miyoung’s team was also streaming but has sub only vods. I think it was the last game played on both Miyoung’s and Ryan’s streams from yesterday 7/20 if you wanted to watch. I don’t think there were any actual interactions though.
personally i never look up the lyrics to SUGR? songs. it feels like an invasion of privacy. if steve suptic wanted me to know the words he would’ve enunciated.
My one sugr? wish is that Steve increases the volume on his vocals. It's always so hard to hear!
I don’t have an issue with volume on his music but I do have an issue understanding the lyrics cause he doesn’t enunciate lmao. There’s a funny post about this somewhere I’ll find it and reblog it after this.
:D
A topic I don't think is touched on as much is that a lot of Steve's twitch audience doesn't know the kinds of stuff he had to deal with when he was a more public/outgoing figure. He used to talk about it in the early days, but he had a fanbase for a while that was really weird towards him, his friends, and their significant others to the point where some of the women in Sp7's lives felt stalked. One of the reasons he thought reddit was weird and eventually wanted the sp7 sub shut down is because he saw first hand how some fans were acting and how they kept digging into his life and acting like they had ownership over him. He has such a complicated relationship with fandoms, which is probably why he was so hands off/less involved for a while.
^this is true as well.

I felt bad for some chatters initially, but when they went to Janet's and Baycon's chats and started trashing Steve and spreading their narratives, it made me realize that maybe Steve did make the correct choice for his sanity and peace. Clara specifically has been doing it almost daily. It also bothers me that they feel so comfortable doing it in Baycon's chat because they know Baycon never speaks out or protects his friends and his "mods" are teenagers, iirc, who mostly chill and make chat commands outside of maybe one person who spends a lot of his time making sexual jokes. It tells me there's a boundary issue as well because I can't imagine going to someone's friend and knowingly trash talking that person, acting as if I'm in the right and that's a completely sane thing to do, lol.
it’s really immature tbh and does show that steve may have been right. i think some chatters may have been caught in the crossfire though with him trying to just cut them all off.
i’ve shared my feelings on baycon’s chat and i agree with everything you said. baycon did defend steve a little from what i saw yesterday but i imagine it’s been crazy in there since this all went down.
About the chat drama: I'm surprised he didn't ban people or call them out earlier honestly. I personally rarely chat but when I did, I had a good experience with chat. However I've seen many times when a new chatter comes in being pretty oblivious because they're new and immediately get clowned on... People also love making their messages into copy pastas and spamming them. Definitely made me wonder how many new viewers Steve gets because of that. Even if you think someone is being out of line, at the end of the day, it's up to the streamer and mods to do something about it.
It’s a tough situation. I feel bad for the people who got banned but it really does feel like he had a lot of negative feelings building up over the last several months. I just can’t not respect his decision. He’s had his moments in the past but it’s obvious that his mindset towards streaming is very different than it was a few years ago. Stuff that didn’t bother him then obviously does now. When he addressed the “cliques” in chat before I’m pretty sure he said they made him miserable and not want to stream so I don’t know how much more direct he could have been.
Here’s this clip from chiblee which is relevant I think:
Hi! Do you have the context to what op was referring to when they said that chatters were bringing up the health of one of Janet’s cats, is one of them sick or am I misinterpreting?
No they are all fine. Janet did a stream where she let baton stream for her and she just sat on the couch in her stream room. Hazel is a Scottish fold and that breed is genetically predisposed to a degenerative bone disease and that chatter asked if she showed any signs of that disease yet when Hazel joined the stream at some point.Janet saw it and answered that Hazel was okay so far. Steve was in chat watching the stream too and he did not like that they brought that up to Janet. He called them bummer chatters and brought it up to them when he saw them on his stream the next day. She did apologize to Janet and sort of to Steve but I think the damage was done already and it just added on to it.
Sorry if this message becomes too long. I'll try to keep it as short and factual as possible.
Steve has expressed more often that he's tired of certain elements of his chat, and it makes him not want to stream as much. He got tired of logging on and looking over during streams and seeing chatters insulting him or twisting his words/actions and genuinely making his experience unpleasant. A few weeks ago, he discussed this again and added that he hates how cliquey chat is and how they enable each other, but he understands that they're friends. He just wants them to be normal/better, and he felt like their cliquey nature was preventing others from participating. Some of chat tried to argue and claim it was AU chat, but Steve wondered if it was always the Valo chatters that were "this annoying." Some suggested that they had become too comfortable and weren't considering his feelings and maybe they needed to create a safe word for when their behavior was going too far.
A week or so ago, a newer chatter suggested a game to Steve, he played it, but he ended up disliking the game. That chatter had also started getting into the "clique" and had already developed a habit of insulting Steve and bugging him. He decided to ban the user (people thought it was a joke ban), then after he raided, he ended up banning 3 or 4 more people. Some of the banned just happened to get caught up, but he basically banned some people he already expressed repeated annoyance with including Claralikeswawa (I don't remember her original name). He apparently said she was genuinely unlikable and some of the other people were told that they may be nice but he still didn't like their cliquey behavior. He would rather the chat be dead than have to continue dealing with how they were making him feel. (They shared these messages in Baycon's chat)
The next stream when he was playing some truck driving game, a user named Killingboys returned and tried to harass Steve on behalf of the banned and asked if he was intentionally trying to run away his active chatters. I'm also pretty sure they compared themselves to his "personal 9/11..."
Anyway, Clara and a few others moved to Baycon's chat where they've been trashing Steve in front of Baycon for a week every time they join while Clara claims to "not care" and "nothing a man does will bother her" in between claims of saying "it did bother me, but I'm petty, but idc anymore."
Essentially, Clara and some others aren't owning up to how annoying they were and how many times Steve expressed his frustrations. A specific group did seem to always insult him and be mean, and he told them that he felt like they were always trying to rage bait him. Even Nami, the one who always told the cheesy jokes, had started to become meaner and more insulting by the day. Clara herself stated that she always rage baits men. It felt like a case of them not knowing when to stop. Steve also seemed to think some of them were bummers after they brought up the health of one of Janet's cats to her, and I guess Steve also spoke pretty openly about his issues with chat during the storm chasing streams with DD, who also commented on some of their behavior that he noticed.
Long story short, it's a complex situation. I think Steve hit his limit and finally reacted on his frustrations, and some of chat/his supporters suffered for it. But I also think some of his chatters really need to realize that Steve is a person and their actions do affect him and others, and they need to recognize when to let some things go or stop certain actions. Some had a habit of treating Steve's chat like it was "their" space and they could say and do whatever they wanted.
This is perfect thank you so much for explaining! I went to baycon’s stream today to see if anyone requested steve’s new song and saw people complaining about steve even more than usual. I checked some chat logs in baycon’s stream and saw they were saying they were banned in steve’s chat without explanation and he “took away their safe space.”
I remember getting an ask about Steve talking about the cliques in chat weeks or even months ago so they were fucking warned. I swear I answered and posted that ask but I can’t find it.
“personal 9/11” is fucking insane work though holy shit. i know steve has had many issues with that clara chatter over the years starting with when that killingboys person was banned. i don’t know the time line exactly but I know steve was pissed at that chatter bringing up hazel’s health TO janet.

Demo Man
Hope you're doing well and are enjoying the summer/holiday. Just wanted to check in and send some good wishes.
Thanks for the well wishes. I appreciate you thinking of me <3
Hope you are doing okay as well.
I re-uploaded the storm chasing vods just in case they get deleted. You can check them out here.
His regulars/mods are lenient and justify him doing another one. It does, however, seem like an action he would chastise others for. I speculate that he does certain things on stream with the purpose of having his chat back him up. When he purchased the piano, I thought he might finish some music, but he immediately went into storm chasing. It's a very $$$ hobby while making almost none of it back, so if one is engaging in it, maybe it's not wise to complain about finances, but… as we've seen, streamer/audience dynamics aren't always logical or healthy.
Yeah the thing is I don’t really care how he spends his money. Like I said I think pocket watching other people is lame. Spend your money how you want . I also think them actually going storm chasing was really cool and I’m proud of them getting that plan out of the dms. They’d been talking about going for years.
BUT hearing him complain about how people weren’t throwing money at him anymore to the audience that had helped him with multiple very lucrative subathons at that point is wild. He’s done multiple subathons at this point and still has many goals undelivered from the first subathon. These days he just gets super defensive when people comment on his spending with the cs cases on top of the other stuff and he said he’s been very financially comfortable because of his subathon(s) which is the opposite of what he’s complained about for years.
He bought a rav4 because his old car wouldn’t have fit 4 people for storm chasing. He probably did tell his audience how much it cost exactly but I just estimated around 40k. Now it seems like he jumped the gun a bit as there are no storms for the near future and they probably won’t storm chase as a group of 4 until next year if they are even still interested in it at that point.
Is there an etiquette to streamers doing subathons without getting remotely close to finishing their paid goals from the previous one? It feels... slimy to even consider one, but I guess as long as the audience is okay with it, it doesn't matter?
I think it’s the bare minimum to complete your sub goals from previous events prior to starting a new one but that’s just me. I won’t be spending my money there personally and I guess it’s up to his audience if they are okay with it. I also think it scummy to talk about how long you think your subathon is gonna go on before it even happens.
I do wonder about TOS for stuff like subathons and sub goals tbh. I don’t think twitch has much in terms of consumer protection and it’s very much spend at your own risk.

You can obviously ignore this if you'd like, but how is QSMP2 going overall? I'm surprised there was another one since there was sooo much drama related to the first. Glad you're finding it enjoyable.
I pretty much exclusively watch from Foolish’s POV so it’s just very unserious but fun. I only know about other story arcs from random twitter clips but it seems like people are having fun with it. There were a lot of issues with the last server which is why I didn’t watch for the first few weeks but I saw some clips on twitter that made me want to start watching. Seeing Foolish and Juan yes and each other has been so funny like I’ve cried laughing multiple times from them. I love a fun rivals to besties arc.
But yeah I’ve just been enjoying the silliness for now and trying (and failing) to not get too attached to another Minecraft server.
My only issue with Foolish rp is that since his character is immortal I think people put too much emphasis on him carrying over things from previous servers like his relationship with Vegetta for example. That was only part of his story but people are so set on it returning and I enjoy seeing the new dynamics more.
Do you know if the storm chasing next week is with Chiblee and Janjan?
I believe that’s the plan. I think DD said Chib will be in town from May 21-28 so the trip should be during that window. Idk if things change if the forecast doesn’t work in their favor though. 🤷‍♀️
